Rating: Summary: Offensive Review: While there's certainly some valid advice on dealing with children (as in many other books), there's a clear fundamentalist Christian prosthelitizing element as well. She strongly advocates taking Jesus as one's savior. I wish the religious bent to this book had been apparent in the descripition since, for me, it gets in the way of respecting this writer as a thoughtful broadminded advisor.
Rating: Summary: If you're not willing to be "born again", save your $$ Review: While this book does present valid points...eventually.. which can be found in many other books, it's hard to see the validity here through constantly being told you must repent your sins and accept Christ as your Savior in order to be able to deal with your anger and children. The author is a fundamentalist Baptist, and the message that you must repent and accept Jesus and whatnot before you'll become a great parent is given over and over. Also presented repeatedly are suggestions that you should hold daily devotionals, bible study, scripture memorizations with your children. In short, after you get some illustrations of what kind of "volcanoes" angry mothers a.k.a. "mount mamma" can be, it basically goes into needing Christ in your life and how one must be "godly" and a godly mother. If you get annoyed when the bible thumpers approach you at bus stations and street corners and just won't seem to give it up, then this book is not for you. It's clearly for those who are "born again" or open to the concept of becoming "born again". In my opinion the best part of this book was the recommended reading list at the back of it, so I could find something else to read that might actually present some advise on dealing with toddler and preschooler behavior.
