Summary: Anyone In A Caretaker's Role Should Read This Book!
Review: "She's Gonna Blow" has practical advice for EVERYONE who is a caretaker - whether you're taking care of children, stepchildren, or elderly parents. As a fourth grade teacher, I even found help for dealing with my students at school! Julie Barnhill has combined honesty, humor, visual images, and Biblical principles with practical solutions to handling one's anger. Julie's writing is easily read, but at the same time she touches the reader at a deep, genuine, and personal level with her writing. I often felt like the author was sitting in my living room talking with me! The "Points to Practice" section at the end of each chapter helped me apply and incorporate the anger/child/self management suggestions into my everyday life. Also, the lists of resources and recommended readings at the back of her book have proven VERY helpful for me. I HIGHLY recommend this book - not just for mothers, but for anyone in a caretaker's role! I eagerly look forward to Julie Barnhill's next book!

Review: "She's Gonna Blow !" is an excellent book for any mother ... Julie's book is very easy to read ... it's like she's sitting in your living room visiting for the afternoon. This book will make you laugh and then on the next page she will touch you with God's wisdom and make you cry. I can't say enough about this book ... I wish Julie had written this years ago.

Summary: Some helpful ideas
Review: 3 1/2 - As a previous reviewer indicated, this book does have religious overtones and Julie encourages you to really lean on God in dealing with your anger. I am not a religious person, so I just overlooked those parts of the book and concentrated on the common sense ideas that she presented. I am an intelligent, college-educated mother and didn't find this book to be insulting or condescending. I would recommend this book to any mother looking for support and ideas in dealing with and disciplining her children. As with any advice you receive, you apply the principles that work best for you & your family.

Summary: a book for such a time as this
Review: A very dear friend handed me this book after I confided in her that I was having trouble with my then two year old daughter. Anger and guilt can seem overwhelming when I see myself falling short of the mother God has called me to be. This book has so much humor and insight, it is something that I refer back to when I feel myself slipping into an angry mom. She uses scripture, personal experience, and practical stress and anger management advice. I highly recommend this book!

Summary: Real help for controlling your temper
Review: As a Christian mother, I found this book to be a real gift. I thank Julie Barnhill for having the guts to write it. She is honest about her own behavior and also honest about how, with the help of Christ and many people, she overcame her ungodly anger.

I have talked with many mothers on the playground, through scouts and soccer. It seems that many of us have anger towards our children, screaming at them or even hitting them when they get to us. Yet we have no idea why this is happening. Julie Barnhill gives a well-thought out explaination along with suggestions for changing yourself. I have given copies of this book to several of the mom's (believers or not, I didn't know) and they have always thanked me.

Do yourself, your spouse, and your children a favor and buy this book.

Summary: thank you, thank you, thank you, Ms. Barnhill!
Review: Finally a book that deals with Moms and anger. Most moms, if they are honest, have moments of extreme anger at their children, while at the same time loving them with all their hearts. This book will help you find ways to deal with the anger without damaging the relationships you have with your children. She talks about the damage that words spoken in anger can do, as well as discplining out of anger instead of love. A must-read for all moms.

Summary: She's Gonna Blow
Review: I am an avid book reader and this is a wonderful book for anyone who has experienced motherhood. I have raised two children and wish this book was available to me then! It addresses thoughts and actions that I experienced and was afraid to talk about. It's great to know that I am not the only mother out there who has had angry feelings toward my children who I dearly love. Julie addresses these feelings and I highly recommend this book to everyone. I have given a copy of this book to my daughter who is the mother of two toddlers and she has found it to be tremendously helpful. GREAT JOB JULIE!

Summary: Must have for moms who struggle with anger!
Review: I believe that this book is the best one out there dealing with moms and anger. I never knew I had an anger issue until my son was born. Julie reaffirms those of us who need to know that there are others out there struggling with the same issue...and that change is possible. It is Biblically based, written that way because God is the only one who can bring about geniune change in anyone. I am a college-educated mom as well and hope that the reviewer who wanted to rate the book a zero rereads it with a open heart!
