Summary: Info on all aspects of the elderly immediately!
Review: The most amazing book I have ever borrowed from a friend to read. It is a most important book to have especially if you are "caring" for an elderly parent (in this case, my 93 year old father)and living many miles away (in my case, 3,000 miles). It is so easy to navigate and it is difinitely written for the layman--it gets right to the point and avoids the reader having to read on and on to get an answer. Very important facts in each chapter are highlighted in gray boxes. Thank you, Ms. Morris, for this great compilation on eldercare.

Summary: Lots of answers
Review: This book has a lot of information, a lot of tips, etc. It covers pretty much everything from A to Z. I recommend the book to other people with parents who need care. Both my parents need homecare and I have read a lot on the subject lately. Another book, HOMECARE: THE BEST! has also been helpful and gives interesting information about advocates and caregivers that I didn't find elsewhere.

Summary: A must-buy for anyone worried about an aged parent!!
Review: This book has helped me enormously in dealing with my parents. It's easy to look up information, and it provides a lot of support, letting you know that you're not the only one who is going through this. I can't say enough good things about it. I've given it to a dozen friends already!

Summary: Been there done that...
Review: This book helped me through the roughest time of my life when my Mom became ill and was unable to care for herself any longer. I had to make the decision to place her in a skilled nursing facility. She was in and out of the hospital and the nursing home for almost 8 months before she died; and this book helped me to know what I needed to get her the best care she could have. God gave me the strength and this book gave me my sanity. I have recommended it to at least a dozen others who are facing the same difficult decisions, the guilt, the anger, and all the other feeling that no one but someone who is going through this would understand. This book reminds you that you are doing okay, and prepares you for everything that happens.. One of my friends told me that parts of the book are as if she wrote it herself. I read several chapters more than once...some 3 and 4 times. I truly believe my Mom and I had quality time together before she died because of this book. I could never have gotten through those last 8 months if I had not read it. I can't thank Virgina Morris and Robert Butler enough for writing it.

Summary: Tremendously helpful during a difficult time
Review: This book helped me tremendously as I stuggled through a difficult time being both a parent to my children and having to care for an ill parent. The book is easy to use with helpful information and resources, as well as being emotionally supportive. Easily read, not cover to cover, but as I needed help and support at different moments I picked it up. I have kept it next to my bedside...

Summary: EXCELLENT resource!
Review: This book is exceptional. The author includes all specifics needed to apply the valuable information provided throughout the book...including phone numbers and addresses. Not only did the book help my husband and I prepare to care for our own parents, reading it has helped us prepare for our own aging process. The information will make things as easy as possible for our single child when we become the "Aging Parents". This book is a must have. I bought one for each of my siblings and also copies for good friends who are also caring for elderly parents.

Summary: Highly recommended and very helpful
Review: This is a wonderful book, and will be helpful for anyone facing the inevitable issue of parents or other relatives growing older and needing care of any kind. Easy to read through, as I have just done, it is also a wonderful resource to pull off the shelf as these issues manifest, from talking to your parents about what needs to be discussed as soon as possible, to knowing when to intervene and when to get out of the way, what questions to ask whom, and what to expect. Information about contacts and agencies is liberally sprinkled throughout the book, and a helpful index at the back helps you to find whatever you need at a moment's notice. An initial read-through makes you familiar with what the book has to offer, making it more familiar as the needs arise. Highly recommended.
