Summary: A must read!
Review: This is a must read for any woman looking to leave the work force and begin a career as a full-time mother at home. The authors do a great job of answering commonly asked questions.
Staying Home really encouraged and inspired me with facts and figures, suggestions and feedback from other moms surveyed. This book is perfect for moms who are already home, and would make a great gift for those on the fence. It may be just what they need to take on the role of full-time parent.

Summary: The road map for mothers' journey from work to home
Review: Women are blazing new trails in balancing work and family. Very different from the at-home mothers of the fifties, these women consciously "sequence," moving in and out of the workplace as their needs and their families' needs change. Our members tell us that Staying Home has become their road map as they make that journey.

Summary: A terrific resource for mothers in general
Review: Women today are faced with the often painful decision of staying home with their children or returning to their full-time career after their baby is born. Staying Home, now in its eighth edition, is a terrific resource for mothers in general.

Taking you through the transition between full-time professional to full-time parent, the authors stress the importance of finding support for yourself-whether it be through playgroups, community groups, or support groups. Many women who are home for the first time feel isolated from the rest of society. Making connections early on can help alleviate some of that isolation.

The authors offer many resources and suggestions for avoiding this loneliness. There are chapters that help you focus on your changing relationships; some relationships are made stronger, while others may suffer some hard times. The authors offer tips for staying sane through this difficult time, while validating the decision to stay home to be your child's primary caretaker.

Darcie Sanders and Martha Bullen have fully researched this book and their style of writing is personable, easy to follow, and interesting. The resources listed at the back of the book are invaluable.
