Summary: No Duh! :-( ...Absolutely Nothing New At All
Review: I found Mommy CEO to be a hodge-podge of about 45 questions with answers I already knew from parents to parents. It includes information from pregnancy and infancy to the teen years. Only about 25 pages of the already very short book (150 pages) were relevant to my needs about my child who is 12. I think moms with younger children may find this book more helpful than I did, although I can not recommend this book in general.

Summary: A great book for new parents and grandparents!
Review: My wife received this book for a baby shower. We have both found it to be one of the best parenting books we have read so far. The whole book revolves around a "Preventive Maintenance Plan" for kids.

The author offers enlightening easy to implement plans on keeping our family in "good running order" just like we do with our cars, lawnmowers, TV, anything that we want to preserve in tip top shape, which of course, includes our kids.

Most fathers and fathers-to-be know very little about fathering or how to relate to family members, kids, grandparents or even to their wife, as far as constructive realtionships is concerned.

My friends make fun of me as I struggle to figure out why it is important to sit down and look your child in the eyes and talk to them, to stop and listen to what they have to say, and to turn off TV, radios or any type of noise when you do attempt to connect with your kids.

I was raised in a family where we did things because our dad told us to or we would get spanked. It was pretty cut and dried.

We parent like our parents did with us even though this may not be the best way.

The fact is, even though I am a dad to two older kids, this is my first baby I have actually had the time and energy to become involved in with the parenting process.

In order for me to do so, I needed an easy to follow plan. Mommy CEO fits the bill. After my wife started reading it, she began to discuss things with me and I was clueless on almost everything she was wanting me to understand.

I felt pretty guilty and took the book with me to work and read it on my breaks.

What I found was a manual for life on parenting. As a man, the "preventive maintenance" part peaked my interest. Plus, there are two male professors who write a review on the back, so I thought this must have some basic rules I could use and understand as a male.

It is a very practical book and is for all parents, grandparents and anyone who just wants and needs the basics.

I think the advice from the seven doctors who participated in the book have great insight and words of wisdom as parents. In fact, the whole book is based on tips from parents who have learned how to do something and have decided to share their advice with others.

Some of the questions are: My 8-year-old is afraid of the dark. What can I do? Since we have this problem, I read it right away. The idea that is presented for this problem, literally saved our predicament for our 8-year-old. It came from the combination of the contributors and Mrs. Lynn. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW GRATEFUL WE ARE. No more sleepless nights, at least not for now. Another question is How do parents curtail tattling? Once again, we have never been able to tell the difference between tattling and being spiteful. The tips were great and cleared up a mystery in our house and nipped it in the bud.

As a part-time pastor, I have to say that Mrs. Lynn's book is a blessing in our house and we are happy we got it as a gift and will recommend it often, especially to dads who are just trying to make heads or tails of fatherhood, motherhood and parenting.

Summary: NOT FOR KNOW IT ALLS
Review: My company hired the author to speak at one of our workshops. She brought along copies of her book, Mommy CEO, and went over various topics in the book and some that were not. It was clear to all of us that she is a kind and thoughtful individual who writes and speaks from a heartfelt spirit. I bought my copy of the book and it is indeed filled with wonderful inspiration for motherhood. As a lawyer and a working mom, I find Mommy CEO to be a great help with my family and drives home a message that i often overlook, "over scheduling my children and myself is one of the reasons we are constantly arguing about who did what last and why."

I can say if you are a KNOW IT ALL mom who thinks she has read and seen it all about kids, then this book is not for you. It is in a simple clear and concise format which makes it incredibly easy to use for those of us who proclaim and confess to be dummies in parenting.

The note area provided after each chapter is excellent for jotting down notes on previously read pages or just as a reminder of what captured your insight for your own family after reading that specific chapter.

I like it most of all because the family issues range from baby to early teen years and that is exactly what we need in our house.

The handy index in the back makes it easy to quickly look up a topic and then to jot down the subject in the note section.

To have a place to write down your thoughts is quite creative and I see more and more authors doing this.

That's what we do and it's easy to highlight that topic or maybe a tip with a highlighter so that when we reread a chapter, which we do often, those family issues we recently had looked up is there as a reminder. We go one step more and add the name of the child who has had a problem and the date as well.

It's a simple system that saves tons of time as we can refer to in a hurry at a glance.

I think many people are jealous of Mrs. Lynn as she continues to write, speak and build her thoughts and love of helping moms and children.

We enjoyed her lust of life personality and see it demostrated throughout the book. It is well worth the money, believe me as I am a family lawyer and will now recommend this book to every parent who comes in and wants a divorce or who just wants to be a better parent.

Although SuperNanny is very similar to Mommy CEO, they make a great pair for any home library. Also recommended: SuperNanny

Summary: Wonderful Book For Dads Too!
Review: Wow, is the word for this amazing book. My husband loves it as much as I do. The author is quite amazing as she clearly demonstrates concise easy to follow tips for everything under the sun: potty training, breast feeding, whining, biting, talking back, fighting, not obeying, teen curfew and on and on. There's something for everyone in the family especially if you have a wide space between kids. We love the 2001 revised edition as it offers much more than the older one.

Summary: All Ages and All Stages
Review: If there was an option to rate a book 10 stars, this one would be it. If you are a regular mom who knows it all, or thinks she does, don't buy it. If your are a mom of today, with a crazy mixed up schedule with kids, pets and no time for yourself, get this book. With five kids and one on the way, it's nuts in our house. Mommy CEO is one of the easiest books to follow for the every day simple real life drama that takes place daily in our home.

Just like her articles throughout the internet, in magazines and newspapers, Mrs. Lynn leaves no rocks unturned in helping parents feel better about their job as parents. It's so exciting that she has a new book series coming out geared especially towards moms and her CEO theme. I'm looking forward to the new books and have heard and read much about them. Her latest interview was amazing as she stood tall in the seat with the teen report from a major network and a hollywood magazine.

Bravo to this lovely gutsy woman who is encouraging all moms to be the best that they can be. I love Mommy CEO and you will too.
