Rating: Summary: Thank you girlfriend! Review: I bought this book when my girl turned 1, as I realized she was starting to have her own will and was not my baby anymore. She is now 3 and I still use the book for guidance, when things get tough. Vicki gives you friendly and honest advice, just what you need through the little todler crises. It's a relief from all the unrealistic advices that you find in the regular baby books.
Rating: Summary: Hysterical! Review: I loved this book and it really helped me to know there are people out there with kids like mine!~Jennifer
Rating: Summary: Just Okay Review: I was a fan of the Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy and purchased this book on that basis. I was disappointed because it didn't contain as much detailed information as I would have liked. It is just a basic overview of the general things that happen on a day to day basis with your toddler.
Rating: Summary: Nothing's Sacred Review: Vicki Iovine is hilarious! This book doesn't pretend to be anything more than a seasoned mum's take on that wonderful rollercoaster ride that is bringing up a toddler. It's full of sensible advice, and, best of all, acknowledges that you are indeed still the woman you always were (maybe a little more exhausted than you ever thought possible!!), not JUST someone's mummy.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed! Review: I was disappointed by this book for a varitety of reasons. A minor reason was the oh so many references to kids picking their noses (dull). My main disappointment was that I laughed hard about three times while reading the book. The rest of the time I kept thinking I don't understand why this woman had children.
Rating: Summary: Old jokes Review: Maybe funny if this is the beginning of your first toddler year, but most of the jokes are stale by the time the kid is three. It gives you a slightly better feeling of sanity if you really don't have much of a support system or if you are raising the kids alone. A few good tips on playdates were helpful, and if you lack confidence that you might be doing things right, it gives you a confidence boost.
Rating: Summary: Funny but no practical advice Review: I am a great fan of Iovine's book and I must have read the Girlfriend's guide to pregnancy at least 10 times and it doesn't stop amusing me, but I was kind of dissapointed in this book because it lacks any practical advice, maybe she's trying to be a bit too neutral. It is OK for laughs, though.
Rating: Summary: Vicki is The Girl! Review: It's so nice to pick up a book like Vicki's and suddenly feel like none of this toddler business is unchartered water. She has a way of making you feel completely supported. It's a rare treat to be able to laugh while being educated. I do have to say that this book isn't as funny as "TGG To the First Year of Motherhood". That book was a lifesaver! This one is just a nice breather.
Rating: Summary: not as good as expected... Review: vicki iovine seems to have a reputation as being extremely funny, wise, etc. i dont agree. her book has funny moments, but its not that laugh out loud funny, like i was lead to believe it would be. this is definitely not a book to learn about how to raise your toddler. i dont know exactly what it was, but this book just did not captivate me at all.
Rating: Summary: MY BIBLE! Review: Once again, Vicki has done it again. I love this book!! It is trashed because I pull it out so often for reassurance that my 18 month old is "normal" and that I am not a horrible mother or just when I need a laugh about this wonderful stage of toddler hood!! Great book!
