Summary: My 7 month baby talks to me!
Review: I purchased the kit when my little girl was 6 months old; after a month of showing her the signs for eat, more, milk and all gone, she not only recognises each sign but has started making them. I am delighted and impressed. The beauty of this book is it's simplicity; the author stresses that you can make your own signs and actively encourages this. We now use our own signs for a variety of words. What the book does is explain the process and how, as a parent or friend, we should go about teaching signs. This is fascinating to me and I haven't even watched the video yet!

Summary: Unique, innovative, practical, effective, parent-friendly.
Review: Sign With Your Baby: How To Communicate With Infants Before They Can Speak is a complete course in using sign language to communicate with an infant. This book/video/reference guide package is a complete kit offering all the key tools and informational insights that will reduce communication frustration for babies and parents; enhance the child-parent bond; strengthen baby's self-esteem; accelerate development of verbal speech; result in greater written and spoken vocabularies later in life; empower pre-verbal babies with the ability to clearly communicate their wants, needs and observations; and create an entirely new awareness of a pre-verbal baby's potential. Sign With Your Baby is unique, innovative, practical, effective, and "parent friendly" in scope, format and presentation.

Summary: It really does work!
Review: Many people will be amazed at how quickly a baby can learn signs and that one so small does understand what they mean. My husband and I only knew a few basic signs to teach our first child. We began with "more", "please", "Thank You", "drink" and "all done". We noticed a more contented child because he knew that he could communicate some basic needs. It really helped eliminate some whining! Now that baby #2 is on the way, we are so happy to have found the Sign With Your Baby book and this quick reference resource. The illustrations are very clear and while there are hundreds of signs in the ASL vocabulary, the author did an excellent job of choosing ones that parents need to know. We highly recommend this type of training for any child.

Summary: Good book - don't need the rest
Review: I thought the book was great. Very helpful and I am excited about teaching my baby sign language. Already know others who have used the book with success. You really only need the book by itself.

Summary: I Love This Book and Video!
Review: This book and video kit are wonderful. The book is entertaining and easy to read. The video is very helpful in learning the signs and seeing other children who have learned to sign and hearing from their parents. I would definetely recommend spending the extra money for the entire kit! So far, my 8 month old has learned 2 signs, and I am eagerly awaiting more! Have fun with it.

Summary: The video is worth it
Review: I have been signing with my 9-month-old baby for about a month and a half and she is really catching on. I bought the complete learning kit and it was worth it. The book offers everything you need, but the video shows babies actually signing and offers great testimonials from the parents. It also has a video dictionary of the 54 signs on the quick reference guide. I have never signed before and I found it much easier to learn the signs from the video. This would make a great shower gift. The book only teaches 54 signs. You may find that you want another resource like an ASL dictionary, but it is not necessary.

Summary: reduce the crying and whining in your house!
Review: my 1 year old who is extremely verbal would get so frustrated when I didn't understand what he wanted, and after a few minutes would cry and whine until i finally figured it out. After teaching him simple signs, he only cries when he gets boo-boo's now! This is a must for any parent! Also, I was a little worried that he wouldn't talk if he knew how to sign, but as he gets more verbal, and learns to speak, he signs and says the word. So don't be afraid that your child will never talk and only sign, this is a tool to help children that want to communitate but aren't able to yet!

Summary: Thrilling! It really works!
Review: About a month ago, we ordered the "Complete Leaning Kit", which includes the book, companion video and sign language reference card. As recommended, we started in when baby was seven months old by demonstrating the signs for a few simple key words like "milk," "eat," "drink," "more," "finish," and "change," as in, "change your diaper." The signs are all very easy to make, and we both routinely repeated the signs several times in context to reinforce the associations.

Fast forward to tonight: this evening we were at the mall doing some shopping for baby clothes when we happened to look down at baby seated in his stroller. He was making the "change" sign all by himself. A hoist and a sniff confirmed that he was right! It was time to change his diaper. A few minutes later he also signed "eat" to indicate he was hungry.

He's also been making the "milk" sign for about a week at appropriate moments, and by eye direction and excitement level we know he also knows more words like "Mommy," "kitty," (we have a cat), and several others.

I can't tell you how thrilling this is! If you have or are expecting a kid, or know someone else who is, you really ought to look into it!

Summary: Excellent resource for any caring parent.
Review: I recently read Joseph Garcia's book, "Sign with your Baby," and was very impressed. The book is laid out in a clear and easy to read manner, and is easily readable in one sitting. The concept of communicating through sign language with babies is fascinating to me, and Garcia does an excellent job of not only explaining it, but also getting the reader excited about signing. I recommend it!

Summary: Sing With your Baby works!
Review: My wife and I received this combo as a gift. We had heard prior to the birth our son about teaching your infant/toddler sign language and were very interested. Once we received this package, we immediately started teaching our son sign language (he was about 7 months old at the time). The basic advice was to be consistent and patient and it paid off. Our son was using sign language by 8 1/2 months old, telling us when he was hungry, asking for more, and later on, telling us it was time to sleep.

That is just a snippet of his current vocabulary at 16 months old. This book and video are excellent tools for communicating with your little one. Our son is less inclined to "throw fits" because he can communicate with us about what he needs or wants. His frustrations are definately minimized. We seldom have any question in our mind what he's trying to say to us. :) If not only for communicating with you baby, you should do this because it's fun and exciting as well. Afterall, it is another language, therefore a great exercise in communication for both the teacher and the student.
