Summary: VERY EXORDINARY!
Review: Great job Colin Cowie! I loved the book, but I did find that people with low income would not be able to pull off such an elaborate wedding. The book gave me some very innovative ideas with a smaller budget in mind. Some of his taste is a little to Hollywood for me, but very different and I can appreciate that about Colin! Hey Colin write your next book about how to have a great wedding on a minimal budget.

Summary: Loved this One!
Review: I am still in awe of Colin Cowie's sense of style - whether it be a wedding or small cocktail party he is organizing, he always does it with that extra special flair that no one can come near. Being a real "90's" bride, a generation X'er, I found this book breathtaking. A great fantasy book (since it highlights a lot of people that I'm sure that the average bride can't match in wedding budget), but it does still show how you can incorporate classy, stylish motifs into your own wedding. It encourages you to put your own sense of style into every aspect of your wedding. Also, I loved the cake pictures. On another note, I liked Beverly Clark's book, Weddings: A Celebration - it's not as up-to-date as Cowie's, but still very useful and visually stunning. Martha Stewart's book, in comparison to Cowie's is not even close. She wrote it in the 80's - and you can tell.

Summary: "Weddings" is a Truly Beautiful Book
Review: I bought this book simply because of the hundreds of storybook pictures inside. The pictures alone gave me some great ideas about my wedding. I was also pleased to find thoughtful tips throughout. For instance, he suggests leaving a welcome basket (with handwritten note from the happy couple) for each guest that has traveled to attend the wedding. While I would recommend this book overall, I was unhappy with the complete lack of discussion regarding price. He doesn't mention the actual cost of things anywhere in this book -- that information would have be very useful to me in my own planning.

Summary: Great book with wonderful ideas
Review: I don't know why some people are complaining of the book's expensive ideas, because they should've known this when they looked at it at the bookstore! I think it is a great book and almost all the ideas can be done in a cheap way if you use your imagination and do a lot of it yourself!

Summary: This book is too lavish for my taste.
Review: I found this book to have some beautiful ideas, but the overall effect was much too extravagant. I can only think of maybe five pages that made me pause to admire them some more. I believe that when creating a romantic atmosphere, there is a point when you leave well enough alone. I prefer the styles in Victoria's Romantic Weddings and Mcbride-Mellinger's The Perfect Wedding. Then again, I'd much rather have the Cotswold cottage over the lavish, sprawling mansion.

Summary: Move over Martha Stewart!
Review: I have been waiting for Colin Cowie's book on Weddings for nearly a year. It was worth the wait. While the weddings he has organized for celebs are beyond most brides, the ideas he offers for finding your style, what makes a great wedding and how to organize a wedding are the same no matter who you are and what your budget. For sheer versatility, it certainly puts those other mavens of matrimonial style to shame - namely Martha Stewart and Beverly Clark. Move over girls, there's a new stylemaker in town.

Summary: Just a Question
Review: I kept it five stars so I wouldn't effect the average. I was just wondering if this book discusses weddings for different cultures and/or ethnic backgrounds i.e. Jumping the Broom, Latino receptions, etc. Or is this book generalized in that Cowrie will say things like 'use what's best for you and here're some ideas to get you started'?

Summary: A good book with lovely pictures and original ideas
Review: I really enjoyed this book. The real life weddings gave me some good ideas. I thought that the time schedule which Mr. Cowie gave was practical. I also thought the suggestion that we really examine our likes and dislikes such as favourite movies etc a good idea. The book highlights the use of one's individual style. There is no one so called correct way to do things.

Summary: Treat Yourself!
Review: I was hesitant to spend $45+ on a wedding book, but I have no regrets. The photos are exceptional, showing some of the most amazing ceremonies and receptions I've seen, and the information is surprisingly thorough. Even if your budget is limited, the dream quality of this book is worth the price. Buy the book, run a bath, make some tea, and indulge!

Summary: Stunning visuals - a feast for the eyes
Review: I've purchased several wedding books and magazines, but none comes close to this one in terms of sheer beauty. While most of Cowie's weddings are high budget mega-affairs, many of his ideas and presentations can be adapted to fit any budget. This book is current, sophisticated, and full of interesting ideas rather than pedantic advice, motherly reminders and trite "do's and don'ts". I've looked at it again and again as I plan my celebration.
