Summary: Review of "Difficult Moments"
Review: I thought that this was a well-written book, but it focuses mainly on behaviors in the classroom setting - which isn't obvious from the title of the book. I was a little disappointed, because I need to address specific behaviors that occur at home, and this book didn't help in that regard.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This book is excellent for teachers
Review: If you are looking for parenting advice, this one is not for you. It contains information for teachers on how to deal with and understand the child in your classroom. There are other more informative books for parents. I recommend giving this book to your child's teacher to read.

Summary: BUY THIS BOOK
Review: If your child has meltdowns in school, you MUST read this book. More important, it should be required reading for all school personnel who come in contact with AS kids who have meltdowns.

Summary: An extremely informative book on Asperger Syndrome!
Review: It was wonderful to finally find a book which describes my son's behavior, and an explanation of why he "over-reacts" in certain situations. It's a relief to know he's not the only Asperger child who has difficulties with handling his emotions. I highly recommend this book to any parent/teacher who faces the daily difficulties of raising an Asperger child.

Summary: A MUST READ BOOK
Review: Just wanted to mention that the title of this book was changed to "Asperger Syndrome and Difficult Moments: Practical Solutions for Tantrums, Rage, and Meltdowns" so it's still available on Amazon (do a search)

I highly recommend this book for both parents and professionals

Summary: Very helpful in dealing with problem behaviors
Review: My son's Resource Teacher recommended "Aspergers Syndrome and Difficult Moments: Practical Solutions for Tantrums, Rage, and Meltdowns" by Brenda Smith Myles and Jack Southwick. This has been an excellent book to read and I am thrilled that my son's "team" at school has also taken the time to read this!

While my son technically has high functioning autism and not asperger syndrome, the information applies perfectly. There are many similarities between high functioning autistic people and those with asperger syndrome and the main difference in the diagnosis of the two is that there is no significant language delay with aspergers and there are more symptoms present with autism...This book is packed with information that will be helpful to those dealing with "difficult moments" that come with autism and aspergers. There are chapters on the "rage cycle" and how to recognize when it is coming and also information on self-calming and self-management strategies.

I definetly recommend this book!

Summary: This book is a must-read about rage and tantrums.
Review: Myles and Southwihck offer parents and educators the first cognitive approach to dealing with meltdowns. Each pase of the cycle is broken down into component parts, aiding in recognition, management, and ultimately, understanding of this difficulty experienced by many individuals with Asperger Syndrome. This book is a must-read for those who deal with this constant crisis.

Summary: The Best Book on AS I've read yet
Review: Not only is this book useful for parents, this is a great book to use for teachers, paraprofessionals and principals to get them to understand, and successfully work with, your child. This book was a godsend for my wife and me and it has helped the school work better and more appropriately with my son.

Summary: Asperger Syndrome and Difficult Moments: Practical Solutions
Review: NOW....this is a WONDERFUL book. When my husband and I started to read this book, it was like someone had actually interviewed our son Jon. We were amazed at how it discribed him to a "T". We have learned why he does some of the things that he does and why he understands things the way he does. This book is a MUST for all parents and schools who have kids with AS. I wish we would have had this book 3 years ago. It would have saved us all alot of pain and tears.
