Rating: Summary: Disappointed After the Hyped Reader Reviews Review: ...not so great...i've read many books on the subject to date and this is not one of the better ones -- people say it was a concise capsule on 'not calling' but i dunno.....very pat, a smattering of what is in one of the many other books on this subject -- it's like a list -- not really helpful, nothing you haven't heard somewhere else put out far more in depth.
Rating: Summary: The best gift I made to myself Review: Believe it or not after my boyfriend dumped me I bought most of the books concerning breakups and sad feelings. This was by far the best! When my boyfriend left me I acted kind of crazy calling him 20 times in half an hour that day! After a few days I felt so humiliated that I wanted to call him back and prove him I am not a hysterical girl. This book had all the answers to my problems. It stopped me from calling him for one more time and it stopped me from being humiliated for once again. I also wanted to make a closure and call him for the last time so we could talk calmly and so we could separate with friendly feelings.Big mistake!Rhonda made me realise that the only closure you should make when s/b breaks up with you is with yourself. Now after reading it some times when I have the urge to call him I just look at the cover and all I've learned comes to my mind. After a couple of minutes I feel ok! Read this book again and again cause every time you'll love it and appreciate it even more!
Rating: Summary: On ambivalence Review: Chapter 7, The Ambivalent Man, is worth the price of the book. I meet a guy who was charming, handsome, deep, interesting, and and deeply ambivalent. He positively radiated ambivalence. I never knew what I was doin wrong. I blamed myself for his confusing behavior. Ms. Findling explains the immature behavior behind such actions. She made me realize that sum total of what I did wrong was beat on myself for his actions. She also explained the range of emotions one will feel when breaking away from such a relationship, including lingering love and feelings of warmth, that it is OK to feel these but not to express them.Hats off! By the way, I am gay, and this book was quite applicable for gay men.
Rating: Summary: Follow these directions! Review: Great book for women with man trouble. Everytime I'm tempted to call that man, I pick up this book.
Rating: Summary: Best purchase I have made in a very long time! Review: I am currently going through the breakdown of my marriage. I bought this book yesterday, and I haven't picked up the phone to call my ex since then - and that is saying something. If a friend came up to me and told me that she was being treated the way my husband treated me, I would tell her to get out of the relationship as fast as she could. So why do I lower myself and think he is the best I ever had? This book has made me understand why. Please, don't pick up the phone to call your ex, you owe it to yourself.
Rating: Summary: If you are hurting - Get this book!! Review: I am in the midst of a breakup (he doesn't know what he wants, etc) that may or may not be "really over" If I had not gotten this book - my incessant calling, emails, emtional outburst, etc, would have been the end!I highly recommend this book if you are hoping to get back together and your man wants "space" (after 18 months)(, not for just when you know it is over! Great book , and easy to read- not too wordy but packed with info-!!If you have any hope of saving a relationship- DONT CALL THAT MAN!!
Rating: Summary: Great self-help book Review: I bought this out of many self-help books to get me through a very painful break-up. This book truly helped me from calling him. I found myself calling him over and over even though it was obvious he did not wand to hear from me. This book helped me to recover my lost dignity. I highly recommend it to any woman who is going through a break-up and yet can't seem to stay away from the man.
Rating: Summary: On Target! Review: I had been debating whether or not to end a 12 year relationship for some time. This book gave me the insight to make that decision. The chapter on the "Ambivalent Man" really hit home. I realized that I was not crazy and that any further efforts to save my relationship would most likely be futile. Get this book if you need the final push to end a dead end relationship once and for all and to get on with your life.
Rating: Summary: a great resource when you are going through a breakup Review: I have now read a number of books designed to help you move on after breaking up. This small book is the BEST so far. I quickly read through the entire book today; it was so clear and real and brought my situation into much sharper focus. The material here really hit home in a powereful way! I am going through it again slowly, because there are many gems of wisdom, concisely written, as well as some great little exercises to do to illuminate how you feel, where you are, and what you want to do. It has already cleared away a lot of debri from my thinking, and in one day, has given me a greater sense of peace with the ending of my relationship. Many thanks to the author!
Rating: Summary: You MUST buy this book if you're going through a breakup! Review: I loved this book. I highly recommend it to any woman in the grieving process after a breakup. It's extremely to the point, and very concise. It is never preachy or overly spiritual, and has excellent tips for things to do besides obsessing over the ex. Normally I skip the writing exercise portions of books like this one, but these I actually did and found them to be helpful. I immediately felt a lot better about myself and what I'm going through when I finished the book. I re-read it often when I feel the temptation to call my ex.
