Rating: Summary: Very informative, read this 1st! Review: After I read all kinds of other baby books, I read this one, and it summed up everything in one convenient location. No more "which book was that in?"
Rating: Summary: Needs major updating Review: Although I agree that this book provides a good overview of pregnancy, there are some glaring omissions, considering this book has not been updated for nearly a decade. Since then, new infertility advancements such as Clomid (not mentioned) have become mainstream. In addition, the book gives no warning as to the potential dangers of eating certain types of fish that contain high levels of mercury. Better to wait until the next edition comes out--whenever that may be!
Rating: Summary: New momsRead through the entire book during your pregnancy! Review: I agree with everyone else--this book contains all you need to know about pregnancy, childbirth, and baby care/concerns. I wish I had read through the entire book before giving birth 1 week ago. Then I wouldn't have so much catching up to do. Instead I focused too much on the various pregnancy and childbirth books, when my time would have been better spent reading this guide. It is a great overview, with enough details for all your many questions. So don't make the same mistake I did--get a copy and start reading it today. It will make the time in the hospital right after birth not so bewildering.

Rating: Summary: Great comprehensive book on pregnancy and childbirth Review: I bought this book along with several others and liked this one by far the best. I highly recommend this book as it is a well-researched, informative and all-around useful pregnancy source. I refer to this book often during my pregnancy for questions or concerns that come up. It's great to have an at-home reference guide to refer to as issues or questions come up during your pregnancy without having to call a doctor or search the internet for every question. The only down-side to this great book is that it is great, in size that is. It is not a light read and when up late at night in bed reading, I have found it can be a bit cumbersome. However, it is jam-packed with information, which makes up for its less-than-portable size.
Rating: Summary: What a waste Review: I bought this book for my Baby's first year and what a waste of money. Please save your money. All the information is available for free on the internet and there are better books
Rating: Summary: Everything you want to know Review: I can't think of a subject that this book does not cover. Even "newborn" questions are right here. If I was looking for accurate information I would look to the Mayo Clinic to deliver it, the best doctors in the world and the best baby book you can buy. I've given it to my sister-in-law, my cousin and it's been around the family. It's something you can use forever. By far one of the best reference guides you can buy!
Rating: Summary: Nice book but save your money Review: I got this book -- for free -- from State Farm. Just go to their web site.
Rating: Summary: The only book you need to put your mind at ease! Review: I have had two children in the last three years, both pregnancies were totally different. This is the only book out of the four I have that didn't talk "around" the issues - the authors take a position on each issue and clarify what other books made more confusing. It helped me through many anxious nights!
Rating: Summary: This is a great guide! Review: I have not had any children - but this as soon as I hear of a friend who is pregnant - this is the gift I give them. I have read the whole thing - and it has been a help to me in relating and interacting with any new babies in my life. The fathers really seem to like it also - I think it answers a lot of questions they may be too embarrassed to ask the mother or her doctor. My sister-in-law helped to research, write and edit this book, and she has herself been pregnant twice, so she has a great perspective on the information in it. It's the only book I give to my pregnant friends.
