Review: My sister introduced me to this book when she and her husband decided to have their fourth and last child (1st three are boys)She followed the book to a tee and had a little girl.I was blessed as well with a son and three years later with a daughter after following the suggestions. This book is a useful tool to really understanding the mechanics of your reproductive system. It is not MAGIC(approx.80% success rate), But is based on scientific evidence that will greatly improve your ability to conceive the gender of your choice. It describes about how to chart your ovulation and learn WHEN you actually ovulate. You need to do this for several months before actually implementing the plan.In a nutshell,it all has to do with the TIMING of your intercourse in relation to the time you ovulate(three to four days prior to ovulation for a girl and as close to ovulation as possible for a boy).It is described in detail and the scientific data supplied. Not everyone ovulates on day 14 of a menstrual cycle.Understanding factors such as stress, illness, diet on your ovulation are explained and will help you learn to know your body.Remember, ALL CHILDREN ARE A BLESSING, GOOD LUCK!!!

We have a wonderful little boy almost 3 yrs old. We would really love to have a girl for our next child and we are attempting to conceive this coming February. I have read this book- and it is very informative and interesting. Our bodies are amazing! Even if this method fails (which i cannot see happening) it was wonderful to learn all about reproduction and how my body works. I will be happy to just have another child for they are little miracles no matter what the sex. It is easy to understand- and there are not a lot of steps to follow. You have to be dedicated to following his proceedure though- and you can't skip steps. I will write back and let you know if/when i get pregnant and what we will be having. Wish me luck! Well- as an update I am due Next month(NOV) and we are happy to announce that we are expecting a GIRL! apprently we followed the proceedures well and we will be blessed with our daughter. Give it a try- it worked for me! :)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great Book - Not Just For Sex Selection Review: OK... I may change my star selection within a few weeks. I am 16 weeks pregnant, and my husband and I get to find out the sex of our baby on our next doctor's visit (I'm just kidding about the star). My husband and I had planned for months to get pregnant. What we didn't plan for was for my cycle to vary between 30 to 45 days each time. I was not very hopeful to get pregnant in a timely fashion, but we did after the second try (second cycle). I believe that this book was a great contributor to this success because it gave us a better understanding as to how to tell when we may be ovulating. I never tested positive on the ovulation kits, but I guarantee you that I ovulated during the time I was testing!!!! This book, if anything else, will guide you in a good routine into keeping up with your cycles and when you are the most likely to ovulate... and... therefore... get pregnant (because, let's face it, yes, we all obviously have a sex preference if we are looking at this book, but all that really matters first and foremost is creating that precious baby... boy or girl).
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby Review: A Wonderful and Successful System - My wife read this book long before we attempted to have any children and I was skeptical. She explained the process, which is envolved. It was completely worth the effort to follow the formulas as described in the book. We now have four children, two older boys and two younger girls, exactly as planned. This book was 100% successful for us and our family. After reading and understanding the theories that were explained in the book, we tried it and it worked. The instructions were based on the fact that the baby's gender is primarily based upon the Ph (acid/alkalinity) of the bodies of the male and female at the time of conception. I think there were 5 to 10 different factors that could be pushed in one direction or the other to make it more likely your baby would be a boy or a girl. And for us, it worked each time. I have recommended this book many times over the years and if you want to achieve a special desire in terms of the sex of your offspring, follow the steps in this book and I wish you all the happiness you desire for yourself and your loved ones. Good Luck!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Why not give it a try...Can't hurt Right? Review: Before anyone tries these methods, You should be willing to leave room for error! After all this isn't a sure fire method. I have two sons 6 and 8 years. I desperately wanted a girl to complete our family, but was Very scared we'd have another son. I thought this book could help increase our odds. IT WORKED FOR US! We have the beautiful girl we dreamed of. I read about this book not working for families but I AM A TRUE BELIEVER. You have to follow these direction EXACTLY. The book states to chart a few cycles so you can get to know your body and help you predict with accuracy. I think too many people are too anxious and end up jumping the gun. You must be willing to give this a few months before you actually TRY...This book makes total scientifc sense. READ IT AND RE-READ IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. My advice is try be very specific with your timing, use the same brand ovulation predictior kit every month(even during practice months),keep a journal of everything! Most of all have fun, think happy thoughts and you will have great odds of concieving the child of your dreams.Good luck
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Review: Many thanks to Dr. Shettles for the amazingly clear description of how the female and male bodies work which will aid in increasing your chances of having the baby of your choice. This book is not magic nor does it claim to be, it merely INCREASES your chances and the explanations are very scientific, but uncomplicated, logical and easy to understand. He doesn't just say "do this or do that" but explains WHY. After having had two girls, my third child was a boy and I am sure it's because I followed what he outlined... This book is highly recommended for couples who prefer a certain sex but will be happy with either one. A healthy child above all else but if we can weigh the odds in one direction or another, why not try???
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Worked for us. Helpful if you are just trying to conceive! Review: This is a great book! Very small with practical advice. I found the advice useful for simply conceiving either a boy or a girl. You will need to learn how to chart your cycles if you use this book; the best book on how to do this is Taking Control of your Fertility. I think another reviewer mentions this book as well. The method for conceiving a boy or a girl is not foolproof. But, you can tip the scales in favor of one or the other. We used Shettles' technique for a boy and was successful. (Prayer certainly helped too!) The other thing to keep in mind is if you use their technique, it is much easier to try for a boy than a girl. I would heartily recommend this book.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Sounds better than it is Review: We bought this book to try to conceive a girl after two wonderful boys. You could set your watch by my cycles (seriously) and I followed it 100%. I mean absolutely to the letter. It failed. But the good news is, I'm pregnant with our third and last child, and our baby boy is healthy (so far, 30 weeks yesterday!) and I'm realizing that's what counts!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: It worked for us! Baby boy due in Feb. 04 Review: My husband and I have 3 daughters and we wanted a baby boy to complete our family. A friend recommended this book because it worked for them (they had a girl). So, we had nothing to lose by trying the method. We would love the baby regardless of the gender. We charted my cycle for a few months before "going for it". WAH-LAH! Baby boy! I know I make it sound so simple, but we just followed every instruction in the book for having a boy and it worked for us! Thanks Dr. Shettles!
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: A good resource but... Review: This book is a good resource in learning about sex selection - however-- what is said on the topic could be summed up in about one chapter! The authors go on and on about what the OTHER theories are, and why Shettles' is much better. They also give a boring scientific history about reproduction. They do this numerous times throughout the book, while the information we need to know about sex selection is barely enough to take up a few pages. Also, although the author explains about how timing of your cycle is important, they don't do enough to explain how to begin understanding the charting process. They briefly mention how AM body temperature should be taken, and cervical mucus should be noted, but there are so many more deatils a woman needs to know before they are sure about where they are in their cycle. Therefore, I recommend Toni Weschler's "Taking Charge of your Fertilty" either instead of or in addition to this book. Weschler briefly discusses how Shettles' method works, and thoroughly explains it in about one paragraph - that's all there is to know! But in addition to that, Weschler provides a thorough coverage about charting, and the specific rules for body temperature and cervical mucus in a woman's cycle. There are also great charts provided in the back so that you can photocopy them. Since she is a woman, Weschler truly writes for women and tells them what they need to know. The men who wrote this book, however, only touch upon a woman's body - and go on about things that are irrevelant to what we need to know. It is VERY important to understand the menstrual cycle and a woman's body BEFORE they attempt sex selection. It is definitely possible to get the sex of the child you want - but if you are a woman, you need more information than this book.
