Summary: An Outstanding Addition to My Library
Review: I view working out as a means to get fit using maximum effort with minimum time. Too often, I see people doing too many exercises incorrectly for the wrong reasons. This book can help solve this problem.
Clearly and artistically, Delavier goes through exercises for every body part, describing the execution of movement, variations, muscle functions and draws the muscles used with different colors representing the level of tension each muscle undergoes.
The drawings are beautiful and informative, a true blending of art and science.
Instead of taking somebody's word about a particular exercise, get this book and see for yourself what works.

Summary: Know which muscles you are working
Review: Finally, a basic and simple format for understanding which muscles are working when you perform a routine. Ideal for all weight training rooms as a reference manual. Perfect for helping individuals customize a program when certain muscles need special consideration.

Summary: Great pictures and exercises....BUT!
Review: This is one of the best if not the best exercise manual that i have read, but some exercises are shown wrong!
It's not big things, but press exercises were the wrist is not straight. As i said little things. Inner keys to the weight training universe by Bill Pearl is also a great manual.
But all in all it's a very good book if not the best book.

Summary: EXTREMELY DETAILED BODY MUSCLES INFO
Review: This book is for everyone who loves working out, bodybuilding or to maintain fitness and physique. This book is a science about muscles at work + an art because it shows you almost every exercise for each and every muscle or muscle group using superbly detailed illustrations labelled with the names of each and every muscle part. I learnt alot from this book. Can you believe that when my trainer (who is a professional bodybuilder) saw this book he asked me to order one for him, so im going to order a copy again. I recommend this book to everyone (beginners to pros) who wants to start working out, study each muscle or learn new exercises.

Summary: Excellent reference for weight training!
Review: This is the best reference book I have found for anyone interested in weight training. It gives very specific information on which muscles are used in many many weight-lifting exercises and, especially helpful, in different variations of these exercises. If you want to develop a routine that involves the different parts and aspects of a particular muscle group, this is a great place to look. The information is presented in an easy-to-understand written form and also visually with beautiful illustrations. I was very pleased to find that the illustrations include women's bodies as well as men's. This book presents complex information (which I have found missing or difficult to understand in other books) in a straight-forward and well-organized manner. The only negative thing I have to say is that I wish it had an index. I'm really glad I found this book!

Summary: Truly a necessity for anyone working out
Review: I don't write reviews, ever. However, this is by far one of the handiest books I've ever purchased, and I'd highly recommend it. The diagrams are interesting, accurate, color-coded, and just professional overall. Both my wife and I use this as a reference whenever there is a quesiton. You don't even have to be hardcore to appreciate all the book has to offer.

Summary: An awesome book
Review: This book was recommended on my monthly newsletter I get from Tom Venuto. I recieved my ordered book on Monday and I have already used it twice. It is incredible how it shows exactly the muscles worked for each particular exercise. I love it!! I will be using this book four times a week. It is worth every penny and more.

Summary: Great learning tool
Review: I bought this book because it's hard to find a strength training book that isn't full of oversized bodybuilders talking strictly about building HUGE muscles. This book is perfect for the average person who just wants a scientific explanation of which muscles do what and the proper strength training technique to use for each. I found almost all common exercises included, and they are easily organized by body part.

Summary: The best of the best
Review: The book has a few errors, e.g., a certain muscle will be shown in bold when the text states that a different muscle is being worked. Also, it should have a special section devoted specifically to rotator cuff exercises, a severely neglected part of strength training. But, in spite of these minor criticisms the book is a masterpiece and a must-have. I hope that the author reads this and contacts me for specfics about the errors that I've found.

Summary: Strength Training Anatomy
Review: Excellent resource. Over the last 15years my sports experience includeds weight training, running, bicycling, skiing, yoga, pilates, motorcycling, dirt biking, kayaking. I've had the benefits of one-on-one training and coaching and I've read many books on these topics. I've suffered my share of injuries and learned even more about my body through physical therapy and chiropractic. It is surprising to me to have found a resource that at this point that can so quickly multiply my body knowledge. It is probably the most worthwhile fitness book I've ever purchased. The illustrations are the perfect compliment to dedicated personal training and professional coaching. I'm 36, and a very active woman and I know this book will pay major returns for me in channeling my efforts, and preventing future injury. Get it if you are serious about being fit and healthy.
