Rating: Summary: Excellent Inside View Review: Helps you visualize the muscles you are working out which makes it easy and efficient to TARGET any muscle you want. The safety tips and precautions are very informative and relevant also. Excellent book overall.
Rating: Summary: Indispensable! Review: I buy lots of fitness and strength training books, and this one is by far the best I've purchased. The book may look small, but it provides an extensive listing of exercises and includes tips about variations that will change how you work each muscle. This is important for a couple of reasons. To maximize your gains in the gym, you have to constantly change your program so that your body doesn't hit a plateau. Regularly incorporating new exercises will also keep you from becoming bored with your workout. This book will show you how using a rope attachment with the pulley works a different part of the triceps as opposed to doing bench dips or doing a kickback. Also, the illustrations show you the auxiliary muscles that are recruited during compound movements like presses and deadlifts. At first I was worried that the book might be too much for me to absorb, but it's not because the author does not get overly-technical with the explanations. The text is concise, yet thorough, and the pictures are highly detailed. This is a wonderful reference book, and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: i"m studieng body bulding trainer Review: i would like to by this book. my teacher got him here, a year before. yesterday i saw him,and i"d like to buy him too.
Rating: Summary: excellent reference guide Review: This book is a very good companion to Frank Melfa's (Body Building a Realistic Approach). It's self explanatory. If you don't know, Now you Know!
Rating: Summary: Well worth the money. Great reference book. Review: You'll find yourself frequently referring to this book when you exercise. Beautiful illustrations show which muscles are used. Many exercises are covered for all body parts. I keep my copy with me while I workout. Variations of an exercise are also covered. However this book by itself may not be enough to explain a step-by-step way to do an exercise. Good when combined with 'Muscle Mechanics' or 'Target Bodybuilding'
Rating: Summary: Simply Beautiful Review: Delavier has produced a simply beautiful work in "Strength Training Anatomy". The drawings are better than photo's for this type of work. They are clear and supported by numerous smaller illustrations that clarify the supporting structures and the movements themselves. How they published such a graphic intensive work at such a reasonable price is simply amazing (and beautiful...)
Rating: Summary: a personal trainers point of view Review: This book is excellent for knowing which muscles are being worked for a particular exercise. No expense seems to have been spared for the graphic detail is excellent. The book is also well organized in presenting muscles of the body, making it easier to follow. Coverage is given for both male and female which makes it a true learning experience. I did not purchase this book from Amazon, because it was a have to have book. If you can wait, Amazon has the best deal.
Rating: Summary: Just what I needed!! Review: This incredibly detailed book was just what I needed. I needed to find some lifts to focus on strengthening the long head of the biceps due to loss of the short head when a tendon snapped. I stumbled across this rich treasury of detailed drawings and concise commentary on both how to perform a lift and variations that created different results.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: THIS IS A GREAT BOOK ON BODY BUILDING. I LIKE THE X-RAY TYPE OF PICTURES USED IN THE LAYOUT WHICH HELPS ONE KNOW FOR SURE WHICH MUSCLES ARE BEING TARGETED WITH EACH EXERCISE. THIS IN ITSELF MAKES THE BOOK INDISPENSABLE & A MUST BUY.
Rating: Summary: Amazing - very well done Review: I can honestly say that I have never seen clearer anatomical drawings in my life. Combine this with the way the muscles and bones are presented (in the context of a lift) and this book should be on every fitness enthusiasts bookshelf. As if that weren't enough - the book gives detailed advice on perfoming many lifts. I am one who thinks that visualizing the working muscles is important in lifting. This book is a big help in this regard. Considering the price of this book is less than a single anatomical chart - it is quite a value.
