Summary: For a fearful time, buy this book
Review: This bestselling guide to pregnancy provides enough fear for the newly pregnant woman to swear off ever getting pregnant again. Included in each section are rare complications which are made to seem common. Women who are looking for advice to deal with normal physical changes are confronted with possibilities that can make a normal pregnancy an extremely fearful experience. Women in this culture are exposed to so much negativity surrounding birth and this book validates this, citing these unusual exceptions and making the process of childbirth increasingly frightening.

If you are looking for a book to increase your confidence in the birth process and your body's ability to birth, avoid this one at all costs.

Summary: What a great Book!
Review: As a busy first time mom-to-be I am finding this book invaluable. I can sit down for 10 minutes and catch up on the progress of my growing baby. There are so many great tips and hints spread throughout this book. I have recommended it to two new moms-to-be so far and wouldn't hesitate to tell anybody else.

Summary: This is a must have pregnancy book!
Review: I found this book while I was pregnant for the first time and loved the weekly format. It became a tradition throughout my pregnancy,on tuesday night I would find time to sit and read the next week's chapter. It also gives great descriptions of the baby's size (such as the size of a plum or a outspread hand) which was easy to envision and share with others, especially my husband. Now that I am working on my second pregnancy I look forward to that 1 night a week for reading about my growing babies.

Summary: Informative, easy-to-read, fun book for an expectant mother
Review: I love this precious book. I am currently pregnant with my second child and cannot wait to pass through each week with this lovely book as I did with my first pregnancy. Early pregnancy seems to pass so slowly and this book made that time so special for me. I would give this book to all expectant friends. The weekly pictures are the best I have seen in any book. It made early pregnancy seem more real for me. When you don't look pregnant on the outside, you are able to imagine what the baby looks like on the inside. What a great idea the author had when putting together this book. Thank you.

Summary: After reading this - I was terrified to be pregnant!
Review: I've never seen a pregnancy book that gives two pages per chapter of the changes and the remaining eight pages per chapter of all the things that could go wrong. I was so scared after reading this book. Then seven weeks into my pregnancy I had a miscarriage - talk about the guilt trip! This book was written by a man and it's completely obvious! Read "Advice from a pregnant obstetrician". It's informative, yet fun. It's written by a woman who not only sees this everyday, but who's been there, done that.

Summary: The most informative book on pregnancy for parents to read.
Review: This information is so specific and informative. It alleviates a lot of fear of the unknown and embarassment for the mother to ask her own doctor. It also gives her plenty of information to go with educated questions for her own doctor. This is the ideal gift for a new mother and is better than the more common giftbook of "What to Expect When You're Expecting." That book is also good, but so many people get it for a gift that yours might be a repeat gift. Glade Curtis' book is more informative and the recipient will turn to it more often. It was a Godsend for my first pregnancy, which was a "perfect" pregnancy, as well as for my second pregnancy that was plagued with crises, and my third pregnancy which was a high-risk pregnancy. Now after three years rest, I am pregnant again and I can't wait to reread Glade Curtis' book. Go buy it now!!!

Summary: An absolutely outstanding source of information!
Review: I bought this book with my first pregnancy and loved reading every word of every week's information! There were always questions that I had regarding my pregnancy. If I wasn't due for a doctor's appointment for weeks, I would just pick up my book and find the answer almost immediately! Also, when I had an appointment with my doctor coming up, I had relevant questions to ask and he was pleased to know that I was "doing my homework." While I frown on those who become obsessive readers while pregnant and forget to enjoy the miracle happening inside of them, I loved reading this book! It was informative enough, yet reassuring enough to know that I didn't need to read any other book to ease my mind about anything! Now that I am pregnant with my second child, I look forward to each week's information. I find myself reading a couple of weeks ahead so I know when my baby will be developing what. I also like to practicaltiy of this book. In various weeks, the size of the fetus is compared to everyday objects -- green peas, pinto beans, green olives, softballs, etc. I am as anxious to read during this pregnancy as I was during the first -- if not more!

I highly reccommend this book to any pregnant woman. You'll not want to put it down!

Summary: This book is excellent, I recommend it to everyone.
Review: I looked all over the shelves of the bookstore for a book that would give me lots of pictures, loads of information, and put it all into an easy-to-read format. The only book I found that looked at all usefull was this one. Throughout my whole pregnancy I've looked forward to reading that week's information, and often read ahead in the book.

To all those people who complained that it had "irrelevant" information in it, or just was out to "scare" pregnant women, I have one thing to say, not everyone has a "normal" pregnancy. I think it's absurd that people have gotten so upset by reading what happens to some people during pregnancy. Sure, you might not have cancer during your pregnancy, but someone out there does. Sure, maybe you don't have a VD or maybe you never smoked or maybe you don't have questions about which medications are ok to take during pregnancy because you never get sick, but surprise! other people out there do have these problems. If you don't want to read about them, then skip over the portions that talk about those problems, but don't complain about a book covering all the possible things that could go wrong, just because your pregnancy happened to go perfect. Personally, I never got morning sickness, and yet I'm guessing every pregnancy book out there has entire chapters devoted to morning sickness. If you want a book tailored to your personal pregnancy, then write one yourself. Otherwise, be thankful to have a book that does talk about all the problems, so in case you encounter one yourself, you'll have something to read, instead of just being faced with a bookshelf full of information for those "normal" pregnancies.

Personally, not only did I find this book fun to read, because I got to hear all about how big my baby was and see pictures of what she might look like, but I also was happy to read about all the complications, so that I could be a better informed person. I think Glade B. Curtis did an amazing job.

Summary: Lot of info, easy to read
Review: During my first pregnancy, I read Week by Week at the beginning of each new week. I found it to be informative and easy to read. I like the way the author described the changes that would be occurring to the mother and the baby each week. Week by Week is a good reference source. Another book I really liked but didn't find until my third pregnancy is We're Pregnant! It describes an entire pregnancy and delivery from the perspective of the expecting parents. It gives a true and very accurate look at life as expecting parents. I highly recommend both Week by Week and We're Pregnant!
