Rating: Summary: Love It!!! Review: I absolutly love this book! I am a first time mom to be. My friend recommend this book to me & I've had it since I was 8 weeks pregnant. It is very informative. I love the pictures/sketches of the baby. And I like how it tells you what is going on with your body too, how much you should have gained & how much your baby is. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about, I didn't notice this book focusing on any negative things that could happen during your pregnancy, they just give you the basics.
Rating: Summary: Mother of 3 Review: I am the mother of 3, and with each pregnancy I have used this book. It is so fun to see how the baby is growing, and how much I should be growing. I have given this book to many friends, and they have also loved it. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: pregnancy must have Review: A good friend of mine gave me this book when I was pregnant with my son--thank you Lori! I love reading and it was great to have something to read weekly to help me to understand what my son was going through at that time. Other books went through a month to month design. I recommend this to all my friends who are pregnant or for them to get for anyone they know who is pregnant. I am currently reading "Your Baby's First Year Week by Week" by the same authors and love it also. I used to look forward to Saturday mornings to read what my "fetus" was up to, now I look forward to reading to my son what developments he is making now! Tomorrow we get to read about week 14!!
Rating: Summary: Week by Week Review: Not much to say other than it's by far the best pregnancy book on the market. I have 7, and it's my absolute favorite. I am very surprised that some others gave it a bad review. Tip: Set one day a week and read each chapter (week by week) with your husband or s/o, it really helps to give them a better understanding of what's going on with the pregnancy, especially in early months when you're not showing.
Rating: Summary: your pregnancy week by week Review: With our second child my aunty brought us this book as a gift and it was just the best book it's great to see what you should/could expect from week to week it really help me because this pregnancy was so diffrent to my first i highly recommend this book especially for ladies expecting their first child.
Rating: Summary: No pregnant woman should be with out it. Review: I loved this book. It was great to read what was happening week by week. I recommend it to anyone who is pregnant.
Rating: Summary: Better than any other... Review: This is the best pregnancy book. It covers all the pertinent information in a non-condescending or scare-inducing way. The week by week is perfect for new "mothers" who need more to read than one month at a time. I've given it to all of my newly pregnant friends and every one says its their favorite. (Dump "What to Expect" and read this one!)
Rating: Summary: Many better books out there on Pregnancy Review: This was one of the first books that I purchased when I learned that my husband & I were pregnant. Quickly, this book replaced my excitement and some trepedation, with down-right fear and confusion. My husband and I found this book extrememly alarmist, dis-organized, and full of vague & conflicting information. The book upset me so much that my husband convinced me to just throw it away. I usually give my used items to friends or Goodwill Industries, but I would not want to pass this book onto anyone else and continue the path of mis-information and lack there of! I do not recommend this book for any pregant woman or couple who is looking for accurate information.
Rating: Summary: Waste of money Review: It's basically the same as the "What to Expect" book, which I didn't really like either. I don't believe that using a midwife as a provider is even mentioned in this book, let alone options for alternative birthing locations or methods (home birth, water birth). Not something I would recommend to expectant moms nor would I loan or give my copy away. There are better and more complete resources out there - try a pregnancy/birth book from Dr. Sears or Shelia Kitzinger.
Rating: Summary: Great for first-timers, or those that just can't wait! Review: Being first time parents, we had many questions, but most of all were excited and anxious to learn all that we could about our little miracle. This book details week by week what you should be feeling, how your body is changing and how the baby is changing. It addresses topics when they are relevant to the development of your baby and your pregnancy. It also gives you something to look forward to each week to sit down and read, rather than month by month! So much happens in one month during pregnancy, I can't imagine reading a book that sums it up all in one chapter! (And I did...but I didn't like it nearly as much!) I would say this is a MUST HAVE for every new mommy and daddy! It's especially helpful during those first few months, when not much seems to be happening, it gives actual size illustrations, so you can see exactly how big your little one is!
