Summary: My Wife loved this
Review: My wife loved this book.

I loved Breathe! A Guy's Guide to Pregnancy, but I guess I can chalk that up to another one of the many differences between men and women.

Summary: Don't forget to share with your own mom too
Review: This is the second time I've tried to write a review on this book but I also had more to say this time around anyway. Don't forget to share info with your own mom and other relatives too. After I wrote in the journal, I enjoyed letting my hubby and my mom read it. It was a great idea my aunt came up with. I wrote everything down including appointments, food I ate and even the weight I gained. You may have to write really small or add a few extra pages of your own. My mom sent me my own personal baby journal to make comparisons to, but not before she made copies of the pages. I shared my thoughts with her and she felt included and a part of my pregnanices. My mother-in law even sent me my husband's baby book. While pregnant with my last baby, I also had two children under the age of five but was very determined to not let this current baby go without a journal all its own. I used another book for my toddler and preschooler, Mommy-CEO, new 2001 softcover, to write down parenting challenges and ideas. Mommy-CEO has a section for personal notes after each chapter and it comes in handy and is very mommy friendly with baby tips too. I have not only compared each pregnancy with my mom's experiences with me, but also to the two babies before the third daughter arrived. It's been interesting and keeps each child's development and birth special. Making copies of the pages and sending them out to relatives keeps everyone in the know and helps to fill a lonley spot. This is very important since we have no relatives who live near us. I hope more and more authors offer a place for moms and parents in general to write down their thoughts. Of course, all of these will go to the child once they become old enough to appreciate it and maybe use with their own kids. It has become a tradition in our family to help keep us connected across the miles. I got both books as a shower gift and now give them away to my own friends. One more I bought with my own money was Your Baby and Child to age Five, by, Penelope Leach. All three are terrific and must haves for ALL parents.

Summary: Lunar time is not for me but journal is!
Review: The Lunar time frame is not for me but this journal certainly is. What an awesome safe keep of wonderful ideas for babies. It has grown with me - so to speak - and keeps me anxious to write the next tid bit of info. I also wanted to tell the whole country of two other books that have been by my side as well. I received them for a shower gift and couldn't be happier. One is Guide to Baby Products, by Sandy Jones. It also provides time managment, cost wise and proven baby product reviews which I always wondered about and now have answers to in one book. Another is Mommy-CEO (Constantly Evaluating Others) 5 Golden Rules, Revised Edition, by syndicated parenting expert, Jodie Lynn. It gives endless tips from the real experts, parents who have been there and done that type of experience. The author also throws in her wisdom at the end of each chapter and offers connecting advice for all moms. It is quite similar to The Pregnancy Journal as it provides space to write down your thoughts - kind of like a journal in an early childhood book idea. For any showers of my friends and relatives, these three books will be on my list: The Pregnancy Journal, Guide to Baby Products, and for the oh too soon toddler years - Mommy-CEO, Revised Edition. These three books have been incredible for me and my husband. Just being from a large family and knowing so much about families, but yet not enough about what the heck is really maybe a little better for my own family, was real life spooky and scary. All moms and dads are afraid of making huge mistakes, but little did we know that they can usually be dealt with and life really does go on. I have to admit that these three books have helped in a multitude of ways. One last book, that I bought on my own was Your Baby and Child by Penelope Leach, and is well worth the money. Buy them, read them and be content in your parenting endeavor.

Summary: Love reading daily information about baby's development!
Review: I am one of those people who, when delve into a project, go as deep as they can go and research as much as possible. This journal is helping to quench my desire!

I bought this book "blind," I was just looking for a journal because there were things I didn't want to forget. It was a nice surprise with the daily anecdotal information, could use a little more room for journaling, though.

Only thing to keep in mind; however, is that the journal reports days and months in terms of LUNAR months - and my conception and due dates did not fit within their timetable. I re-did it twice, so I suggest that you use a pencil as you label your dates to the corresponding day of pregnancy.

Summary: Share your pregnancy with your partner
Review: This journal has it all -- daily factoids about your baby's day-to-day development, suggestions for how to deal with various symptoms you may develop as your pregnancy progresses, space to write down your thoughts and measurements, and even a few helpful hints on how to do various tasks once the baby is born. The book told me at what point in my pregnancy my daughter was about the size and weight of a soda can and that the funny feeling in my throat was hearburn as it started happening. My husband and I read each days' entry every night before bed -- it was a wonderful to end each day talking about the baby as it grew. I didn't give it five stars because the entries got a little hokey at times; overall, however, it was a great companion for my first pregnancy.

Summary: Excellent Buy!!
Review: I received this journal as a gift within 2 days of finding out that I was pregnant. It gives a day by day growth of your new little one and I found it to be very accurate!
The best part is that each day is broken into how the baby is growing and also what the new mommy is feeling, as well.
The one drawback is that there is not a lot of space to write anything more than your weight gain and how you are feeling. But with the daily information, it's a definite must-have for expecting parents!!

Summary: Excellent choice for first time mothers!!
Review: This was a terrific day-by-day guide throughout my pregnancy. I would try to read every day and share the progress with my husband, but sometimes it would be a week's worth of reading in one night. Either way, it was much more fun than cramming a month-by-month guide in at once. The tips were fun and I used the journal to fill in all the info each page asked for. When I look back on this, I will have something magical to share with my daughter! I recommend this for all mothers.

Summary: Must have for first time pregnancy.......
Review: Bought this book because i was unhappy w/ the other "pregnancy books". Read book cover to cover the first couple of days. then was able to follow daily. Great day to day progress charts. Love the fact that i can add my own thoughts (great keepsake to look back on how i was feeling). Each page includes great inspirational tid-bits and wisdom.

Summary: A Must Have for First Time Pregnancy
Review: I received this as a gift and every time I find out if someone is pregnant for the first time, I send it to them. It explains on a day to day basis, what your unborn baby's development is, when their fingernails grow, brain development, etc. This allows you to be more in touch with your baby, especially if this is your first pregnancy. To top it off, it also explains what you may be going through physically and emotionally. There is a chart that appears every so often for you to write down what your measurements are, your cravings, your feelings. You will have something to look forward to with each day.

Summary: Child Developmentalist and Mommy
Review: This is one of the most detailed and interesting "what to expect" books for parents that I have ever encountered. This is beautifully written by someone who obviously understands the miracle of prenatal development. I love the fact that you can journal along while your pregnancy progresses. The information is factual, exciting and was well worth my purchase. I gave it to my husband as a "Guess what, honey...we're having a baby!" gift. He loves it too because it helps him understand more about what we are all going through. I've been reading it to my mom over the phone so she can experience the miracle right along with me, even though she is miles away. I have been an Early Childhood specialist for over 22 years and child development is my passion and field of expertise. Since being a Mommy is new to me (and unbelievably exciting!), this is a breath of fresh air in a world of so much uncertainty.
