Rating: Summary: Very Good Resource! Review: I love the detail and the day-by-day explanation of what is happening to your body and the baby's growth. I only wish there was more room to write in it. Basically, I bought this book for myself and a mom friend gave me a another journal that was more touchy feely for me to put all my feelings into. So I definitely am glad I got this book, but I view this book as the one with all my technical pregnancy symptoms - the one I would give my child when THEY are adults and having their first baby... and the other is more about my emotions that I would share with my child whenever they want to hear about it.
Rating: Summary: This book is fabulous! Review: I received this as a gift and read it cover to cover the first day. It is so full of interesting facts about your baby's development, healthy eating tips, and other pregnancy facts that I learned something new on every page. This journal would be a great gift for that mommy-to-be on your list!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: I have pulled this book out for every pregnancy. It is a great resource. Each day of the pregnancy tells how many days are left until your due date, what is happening to the baby inside you and some tidbit of information. There might be a cultural type of tidbit that tells how other women in other countries give birth, prepare for their baby or recover after birth. There might be a trivia like how long whales are pregnant. There might be a diet advice or a cute quote. Whatever it is, everything included is uplifting or with just a touch of humor. Very well done. This is not a book for tracking your pregnancy as in writing a little note each day to your baby. However, there are some spots for writing your thoughts, dr visits, etc. Mainly this is a book to help you learn what is going on with your body and baby during your pregnancy. Wonderful.
Rating: Summary: Every Expectant Mother Should have Review: This journal is really a keeper. Every expectant mother should go through the process of pregnancy being able to reflect on the beauty and awesomeness of this experience. "The Pregnancy Journal" afford this opportunity and more. Not only is there space for the mother to journal her journey; but the author, has sprinkled cultural notes, scientific evidence, health issues and very important suggestions throughout the journal. This book really allows pregnancy to be experienced as what it is: a journey of beauty. Every future mother should have this book!
Rating: Summary: Better for first-time mothers Review: I bought this book hoping for a pleasant way to track the pregnancy of our second child. It _does_ contain a great deal of good information and I like having a place to track my moods, cravings, weight, etc. However, some of the advice, at least to someone who has done this before or has an IQ over 85, may seem patronizing. For instance, I hope most people already know not to eat RAW eggs and meat and that hot dogs contain non-meat additives. While I think the advice is sincerely meant to help you have the healthiest pregnancy possible, reminding me that "your health-concious behavior can support [critical] growth spurt periods" is annoying. I wish the author had left stern voice of reason to my health care providers, or better yet had a little more confidence in her readers. I doubt very much that most pregnant mothers, particularly those keeping a PREGNANCY JOURNAL, are not keenly aware of the connection between their lifestyle choices and the health of the baby growing inside of them. Overall, this book has been very informative and only mildly offensive.
Rating: Summary: A Great Gift To Yourself! Review: Ok, so I never actually used this book as a journal (there's not much space anyway), but I loved to look every day and see what was happening with my baby. My husband loved it as well. He would come home and ask "So what did the baby do today?". It was AMAZING to know which day the heart started to beat, which day the first recordable brainwaves occurred, when the different organs were formed, ect... Every day you have something to look forward to, and somethng to focus on in the baby's development. My only complaint is that towards the end of the pregnancy the book gets a little boring. I understand that all the baby is really doing is just growing bigger, but giving out parenting tips isn't really useful to me yet, so I ended up reading about a week's worth of entries at a time after about my 25th week. You need to treat yourself to this book though, it is really worth it!
Rating: Summary: YOU GOTTA HAVE THIS BOOK! Review: This book has been my Bible. I read it every day and especially love the day-to-day information it gives you about baby, mommy, foods, and other miscellaneous info. I have several baby books, but this is the one I always turn to. I find the other contain "too much information", where I was self-diagnosing every little thing I felt. This book is just wonderful, and my husband enjoys knowing the day-to-day changes that are happening to our baby. I would not do without it and will be sure to buy it for my next family member/friend that becomes pregnant. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!
Rating: Summary: A MUST HAVE! Review: This book has been my Bible, I have it with me every day. I have several other pregnancy books, but I feel they have almost TOO much information. I look very forward to reading each day's new development...about the baby, about your body and its changes, about foods you should/shouldn't eat, and other information that is very interesting. It's a FABULOUS BOOK! I will surely buy this for my next family member/friend that is expecting. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
Rating: Summary: Buy this book as soon as you find out that you're pregnant Review: My husband and I have been reading from this journal every evening. It's amazing to follow the development of our baby. I have never seen or heard of another book that follows the daily development like this one does. Buy it as soon as you find out that you're pregnant!
Rating: Summary: A Great Gift Review: Give this as a gift to every woman you know who is expecting their first baby. I loved the helpful hints and the day-to-day account of how your baby is developing. It has helped keep me going in the early (and later) months of my preganancy when you really can't see what's going on inside you. I also loved the fact that you can journal your thoughts and emotions along the way. A great gift.
