Summary: This book made my pregnancy go by just a little faster.
Review: This was my first pregnancy and I was nervous, anxious and curious about the whole thing. Being able to read what was happening to my baby inside me every day made me feel like I knew her and made me want to take care of her all the more. I tell all my friends about this book. I couldn't have done without it.

Summary: This book introduced us to our baby before she was born!
Review: This book made being pregnant so exciting! My husband and I would read it together everyday, and when he traveled out of town, I would email each day's exciting events to him. I also felt the Food Facts were very helpful and they inspired me to eat the best possible foods for my baby. My husband enjoyed the quotes at the bottom of each page and we actually posted some of them on our refrigerator. I send a copy to all my friends the minute I learn they're expecting!

Summary: Great gift for newly pregnant first-time Mom!
Review: I bought this book for myself... and couldn't be more pleased. I read the daily passage to my husband every night before we go to bed. It's so interesting to understand what's going on with our baby's development and what's happening to my own body!

A few months into the pregnancy, I began to use the other features of the book as well... recording my weight and waist measurements... and recording what I've been feeling. This has been helpful to look back upon to see my progress.

I plan to give this book to my close friends that become Pregnant for the first time.

Summary: A must-have!
Review: I had this journal with my first two children and now that I'm expecting again I have to have this book. It can't take the place of a good general pregnancy book like "What to Expect When You're Expecting" or Dr. Sears' "The Pregnancy Book." But it offers something that most other books don't - interesting, relevant information for EVERY DAY of your pregnancy. I really liked being able to read something new each day, not just once a month. As far as the journaling part of the book, it does not offer tons of room to write every thought and feeling you may be having throughout your pregnancy. But for me it was just the right amount of room. It allowed me to make quick notes every few days that I thought my future child would like to read one day. I saved my more personal details for my regular blank book journal. At the end of the book there is space to record the story of your baby's birth. All-in-all this is a wonderful book for keeping connected to your developing baby as well as a beautiful keepsake to share with you child in the future. It is definitely a must-have!

Summary: Informative, well researched and interesting
Review: I am currently at 19 weeks of my first pregnancy and am finding this book a wonderful asset. The first trimester is full of description of all the changes that are going on inside with out my even knowing. The second trimester, there are fewer changes going on with baby and more with Mom. There are important tidbits of information including; nutrition and saving your back, cross-cultural examples of childbirth and pregnancy and proverbs and quotes which will make you reflect. All of this and it's a journal, but not one with blank empty pages that you have to fill in even when you're not feeling anything particularly different. A few lines here and a few lines there. Even the information is not too much to digest at a time, allowing you to miss a few days and not be overloaded with catching up. A plus for busy Mom's and Dad's who are trying to get as much information as possible without having to read the encyclopedic books on pregnancy and birth.

Summary: The only book you need
Review: I bought a ton of pregnancy books and found that this was the only one that I needed. I wrote entries all throughout the book and kept track of everything from my weight to the baby's movement. I read the entry each night to my husband- and he actually listened because it was short and to the point and full of information. I loved this book soo much that I bought another one for my second pregnancy. Now my children have a journal of when I was pregnant with them. It tells all about the pregnancy and how they grew from day to day. I have since bought 4 more of these and given them as gifts. Honestly, this is one of the best books ever.

Summary: Great for First Time Moms
Review: When I was pregnant, I received the "What to Expect" books as gifts. They were helpful but very generalized. When I found "The Pregnancy Journal", I bought it because it is a day-by-day account of what you and the baby are going through. I loved it!!! My husband and I looked forward to reading each days passage and it was fun to read ahead and see what the baby would be doing in days to come. The quotes are a great part of the Journal. Also, each day there is a parenting tip, 'pregnancy in other cultures' fact or other baby related fact to read. (Always interesting!) There is room to write your own thoughts, I tracked doctors appointments, ultra-sounds, food cravings, dreams, special events, etc. with this space!! I enjoyed tracking my weight and waist size, something I look back on now and am glad I have written down somewhere. I will buy this Journal for friends having babies and highly recommend it as a "MUST HAVE" if you are looking for that one good book. Its easy to read, very informative and also enjoyable!!

Summary: I love this book!!
Review: This book is wonderful! I bought it when I was pregnant with my son in 2000. I used it again when I was pregnant with my daughter (I just jotted notes down in a different color ink!) I love how positive it is and all the great little tidbits of interesting and helpful info! It doesn't have the wealth of info that other books, like "What To Expect When You're Expecting" have, but it is a great daily read to see what is happening with your baby's development. I have given this book to many friends when they were expecting and all have loved it!! I highly recommend this book!

Summary: A Uniquely Informative Find: A Great Companion Book
Review: I love this book! This is my first pregnancy and i have thus far read many books on the subject. I find The Pregnancy Journal to be a wonderful enhancement to any general pregnancy guide. This book takes you out of the "worry" of pregnancy and puts you into the thrill of your developing baby. My husband and I read a page outloud every night. It's a great way to share in the experience. We love the inspirational quotes at the bottom of every page and also the trivia about cultural differences on the subject of pregnancy and birth throughout history. I really enjoy tracking the changes in my mood and measurements. But mostly I love the ease with which i can read and enjoy the information throughout this book.

Summary: Should not be your main reference book
Review: I bought this book as my main reference book, but quickly realized that it is not sufficient. It tells you about your and the baby's development day by day, and a bit about what to eat. But there is no index (for, e.g., first movement, development of certain features, etc.), nor does it contain any suggestions about what to do when you feel, say, bloated, or how to exercise.

Before I bought the book, I read a lot of reviews, but I think I misjudged the reviews on this one compared to my purpose of using it. In the end, I've found my husband's "The expectant father" much more useful as it raises a lot of issues that we would never have thought of ourselves.

All in all, The Pregnancy Journal is good for nice-to-know information, but now, 5 months into my pregnancy, I barely look in it...
