Summary: Life Today
Review: Start each entry with Life Today. It's wise and good to do so to make an entry each time you feel it's something you're likely to forget later. With my brain ad other children, that's more often than not. My mom gave this to me and I love it. Writing personal notes is the best way to have big dreams for your bundle of joy. My other kids are stepchildren and while I love them too, this is my firt creation and family life as I know it and it will never be the same. My shower was simple but I loved the basket of books more than anything. Inside were the following titles - all of which I would highly recommend to all moms (working or not) and all dads: Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems, by Rihard Ferber, an oldie but goodie, Keeping Kids Safe, by Keneth Shore, it's a new book, Expecting Baby, by Judy Ford, another new book, and Mommy-CEO, (Constantly Evaluating Others) 5 Golden Rules, by Jodie Lynn, new 2001 edition (lots of tips and plenty of motivation secrets)and Everything Baby's First Food, by Janet Tarlov. I was so surprised by the selection and found each one to be very helpful. Personally, I am thrilled with authors who make room inside their book for moms to jot down questions or ideas like in Mommy-CEO and the Pregnancy Journal but yet still offer down to earth nitty gritty true to life tips. It just helps in busy families.

Summary: Great for Mom - great for baby
Review: I loved this journal. It is very informative and full of useful tips - especially for the first time Mom. But the best part is the journal aspect. I not only recorded small and major developments, doctor's visits, first movements, first hiccups, etc., but also wrote my feelings and thoughts directly to my baby. This will be a great gift for my daughter when she is old enough to appreciate it.

Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK!
Review: This book is included in my nightly routine in reading about the daily progress on my baby. It is great because it covers the growth of the baby, the growth of the mother, tips on nutrition, and keeping yourself healthy and comfortable throughout your pregnancy. It also has places where you can write in thoughts about your pregnancy. I have even used the book to track appointments, and ultrasounds!

Summary: Inaccurate and confusing - buy a different calendar!
Review: Two frustrations with this book - (1) blatant inaccuracies about fetal development and (2) uses date from conception instead of LMP (which is used by everyone else in the entire pregnancy universe). I have had fun with the book, but take everything with a grain of salt. The author needs to brush up on her science!

Summary: Entertaining ... but Inaccurate!
Review: While the idea of having a book to turn to every day of my pregnancy has been fun, I cannot rely on it for factual information on development and pregnancy recommendations. It's been off by more than a month on certain milestones and my doctor (and other books) disagree with much of the "advice".

The "childbirth in other cultures" feature is especially interesting. However, I'm not yet ready for the parenting suggestions -- they seem misplaced.

Enjoy it, but don't take it too seriously.

Summary: A MUST have during pregnancy!
Review: I LOVED this journal! It was incredibly informative. I didn't like reading about my pregnancy on a month to month basis. I wanted to know what was happening each day. This journal was the first I found to do such a thing. It even explained what was happening to my body. The quotes on each page were so cute. I also liked the fact that there was room for my husband and I to write to the baby. I've had two children and used this book through both pregnancies. I've even bought copies of this book for all my pregnant friends.

Summary: a fun way to get through pregnancy
Review: This was the first book I bought when I found out I was pregnant. It's hard to keep myself from looking ahead to see what my baby will be doing tomorrow. Very informative! Also a great way to keep my husband involved. He can't wait to hear what is going on inside my belly.

Summary: Pregnancy Discoveries!!!
Review: I ordered this journal when I first got pregnant just because it was called a "journal", not knowing what the book was really about. I learned so much about my changing body and my first baby growing inside. Several months after his birth my sister found out she was pregnant so I pulled it out to find the stage of her baby. It was neat to be able to look back on things I thought about and things the doctor told me throughout my 9 months. Now, my sister-in-law is pregnant and I just got through ordering one for her. It is a mother's must!

Summary: good development info/not really a journal
Review: I had originally written what I considered to be a bad review on this journal after I first got it, but as it turns out, since I've been using it, it's much better than I thought. It gives you fetal development information daily, so can get an idea of what's going on day to day, week to week, rather than monthly (like in some of the most popular books). The "journal" isn't really for writing lengthy prose, though - just enough room to make a few notes per week. As it turns out, that's ok - I don't want to write as much as I thought I did!

My only complaint: the weeks are given as gestational age (rather than the more commonly used weeks from last menstrual period) - so I'm always 2 weeks off from where I should be. Also, it's not nearly as detailed as I would like it (but nothing short of a medical textbook would be, so I'll forgive that).

Summary: A must have for all expecting moms!!!
Review: This book is wonderful! Not only does it allow you space to record how you are feeling but it gives a day by day analysis of what is going on with your body and your developing baby. You enter in your due date (beginning at the end and working your way backwards) and then you have a daily passage to read and inform you. It is especially neat in the very beginning when so many amazing things are taking place. Theer are also sweet little quotes at the bottom of each page about parenting and children and towards the end of the pregnancy they give parenting tips as well. Highly recommended.
