Rating: Summary: Put's your mind at ease. Review: I am pregnant with my first child, and I had a ton of unanswered questions running though my mind. Is this normal, am I supposed to feel this way, am I going NUTS?!? And I think my mother was getting a bit weary of my daily phone calls probing her for answers. So I decided to pick up a book on the matter. I am so pleased with The Mother of All Pregnancy Books, that I hope that anyone having the same concerns I did will run and pick it up! It goes week by week letting you know what to expect and also explains some of the common and not so common pregnancy complaints and lets you know whan they are most likely to occur. If you are new to the whole pregnany thing, as I am, I highly recommend The Mother of all Pregnancy Books. It is reall worth the read, no matter how far along you are.
Rating: Summary: Chock-full of what you need to know Review: I bought this book a year ago when my husband and I were interested in finding out more about being pregnant. I read it and found that it touched on many subjects and gave plenty of information. When we found out I was pregnant three months ago I have since been flipping back through the book to read up on things as they are happening. I cant say how helpful this book has been! The writing style is VERY easy to read and there is so much coverd. I love the quotes from other women that are scattered throughout the book as well. I would reccomend this to anyone who is pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant and I plan on giving it as a gift to every new mommy I know. I would reccomend buying "Your Pregnancy: week by week" as well as this one. It covers much more that happens to you and your baby each week and has pictures of how small or big your little one is which is just so amazing to me. Happy reading!
Rating: Summary: A smart woman's guide to pregnancy Review: This book will appeal to women who want more detailed answers to their pregnancy questions than their doctor or midwife likely has time to provide. The author does an admirable job of zeroing in on the areas of greatest concern to a pregnant woman and her partner and providing tons of detailed, highly reassuring answers. Moms who are delivering soon will also want to pick up the next book in the series, The Mother of All Baby Books.
Rating: Summary: best pregnancy book I read Review: I probably bought 15 pregnancy books while pregnant with my first baby last year and this was by far the best one. Concise (even though long), organized, well indexed and all around well rounded. I recommend the mother of all baby books as well and will be buying the mother of all toddler books when the time comes.
Rating: Summary: My morning sickness survival guide Review: As other reviewers have noted, The Mother of All Pregnancy Books is a really comprehensive book. The author knows what types of issues you're dealing with and what kind of information you're looking for at various points in your pregnancy and she consistently delivers the goods. The section on morning sickness is a classic example. The author concisely summarizes all the latest research about the causes and treatment of morning sickness and then tells you all kinds of practical things you can do to try in order to ward off some of the queasiness. I have really found this book to be practical, helpful, and above all reassuring.
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: This book has lots of good stuff about conception. Once you've conceived, though, this book left you to your obstetrician. Lots of great anecdotes and stories from other mothers, but left me disappointed when I would try to find the answer to a specific question. Recommended, though, because it does give you a lot of information you wouldn't think about.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This book is absolutely a must have for every pregnant woman! I loved all of the "extras" such as common OTC and Rx drugs and their safety during pregnancy and the estimated due date calendar. Also, I love that the book starts with preconception! My only complaint is that I wish the book went into a little more detail about fetal development week by week.
Rating: Summary: The BEST Book...EVER! Review: This book is so fantastic! It really is the Mother of all baby books! It's filled with ALL the facts on everything! This is the one you should get!
Rating: Summary: Not reassuring Review: I agree with many other reviewers that this book is thorough and comprehensive. But it also scared the daylights out of me. As soon as I got pregnant, I started reading as much as I could and finally ditched this book because it's simply too frightening. There's actually a CHART in the back that lists all possible birth defects and their rates of occurrence. If you're not a statistician, you'd look at the thing, add up the percentages, and come to the conclusion that there's bound to be something wrong with your baby. I put this book down after my second month of pregnancy, and have slept easier ever since.
Rating: Summary: A Wealth of Information Review: Ann Douglas approaches this book with just the right amount of humor and a whole load of information rolled into one. Unlike other pregnancy books, it doesn't make you run for cover, but it does give you a clear cut insight into the journey of pregnancy.
