Summary: Very Helpful
Review: We started to ferberize our 6 month old and then I bought this book. Coupled with the info in the Ferber book I thought we had a great knowledge base to work from. I still think you must go by your instincts IN ADDITION TO their "plans." However, I think that the background and advice that is given in this book is so helpful. He does a nice job of making it ok to let your kids cry a bit, but is compassionate to a parent's concern about doing so. We have been very successful - our son was sleeping with us, up every 45 min to 1 hour nursing, and would not EVER sleep in his crib (naps - in arms, etc.). He now sleeps in his crib for all naps and all night. And he goes to sleep at 7PM and is up at 7:30, with 2 wakeups for nursing. He still only has short naps, but we are working on that. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: We now have 4 champion sleepers
Review: We have followed Dr. Weissbluth's advice for the past ten years and have raised 4 wonderful sleepers. They all took naps (one is still in that stage) and still go down to bed immediately and rarely get up during the night. His advice makes sense and is easy to follow, if you can be disciplined and consistent. Our extended families cannot believe what great sleepers we have. This book is always the first gift we give to our friends who have new babies and many of them (those that followed Dr. Weissbluth's advice) thank us for helping make their children great sleepers. Follow his advice, be consistent and you'll see, it works!!

Summary: Absolutely Essential!!
Review: This book was such a life saver. My wife and I had twins almost a year ago. The first 3 months were brutal, especially at 2AM. So anything we could find to try to get them to sleep the night was a benefit for us. My wife read this book and it really works. It takes a bit of discipline on the parents part but after a couple of weeks thats it. They were sleeping through the night and still are. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the author!! Get yourself a copy and get back to sleep. Zzzzzz

Summary: It Works!!
Review: This book works. Buy it and use it. My daughter is a year old and has slept great since she was six weeks old thanks to this book. She goes to bed at 7 p.m. and wakes at 6:30 a.m. She takes two naps during the day. She is happy and well rested and so are we! I would recommend this book for every parent of a newborn! It is a must read and a must follow!

Summary: Healthy sleep habits happy child
Review: This book taught be alot about my childrens sleep patterns, by using what the book taught me, adapting some of it to my family worked wonderful. My children are much happier because I read this book. I wasn't able to do everything the author said some of the advice just didn't work with my family. So I used as much as I could from the book and it worked wonders. Overall this is a must read, if your children are having sleep problems.

Summary: One Year, One Happy Baby!
Review: We are patients and believers of Dr. Weissbluth and his philosphy. Our daughter is a very happy, well rested one year old child and we acknowledge that we could not have done it without this book. We began sleep training at the earliest possible point and have never had to experience a night of crying...we are fortunate. At a very early age, our daughter showed signs of being a child that needed sleep and a routine. We found this book to be very "common sensical" in addressing these needs. My husband and I also are the first to say that it may not work for everyone because each family's situation is different and their child/ren unique. If you follow the Weissbluth method, prepare yourself for the comments from friends and families. They will think your protection of naptimes and bedtime to be extreme. However, they will not complain when your child is happily sitting on the floor while meltdowns are happening everywhere during a family gathering. We have experienced a significant lifestyle change--no more 7:00pm dinner reservations unless we have a baby sitter! Our daugher is in bed by 6:00pm-up at 6:30am and sleeps 3-4 hours during the day. She is the happiest and most playful in the morning; therefore we are now all morning people. We strongly recommend reading this early on and beginning as soon as possible to help with the structure and your confidence.

Summary: A must for parents of difficult sleepers
Review: Do you have a difficult sleeper? You know, one of those babies who can't sleep through the night at eight months? Or a nap-time boycotter? Does your child need to be rocked or fed to fall asleep?

I really recommend this book for parents of difficult sleepers. It includes sections on sleep habits of newborns all the way up to teens. The following are some of the helpful things I learned from it:

1. Your children will wake up around the same time each morning regardless of the time they go to bed
2. Put your children to bed when they are sleepy-it doesn't help to keep them up longer to play more or so they will sleep in
3. Motion sleep such as in a swing, car or stroller is not quality sleep
4. A nap does not count as a nap if it is less than 45 minutes

I have learned from experience that changing children's sleep patterns can be difficult but worth the rewards in the long run. Naptime is still rough for my twins, but nighttime is great. Sam and Theo sleep 11 hours a night. That means my husband and I get to sleep seven to eight hours! Wow!
