Summary: YES YES YES!!! IT TRULY WORKS!
Review: I was so sure that I would be one of those people who got absolutely no results from this method. But I am happy to report
that I was wrong!! One month later (results are not instant but they are something better: permanent!) my 20-month-old daughter is waking up twice a night (the first time after about a 6 hour stretch). One month ago, she woke up every two hours without fail, and I would have to nurse her back to sleep. Now she goes to bed earlier, wakes up happier, and I feel like a human being again!

The most important thing: read the entire book and follow it to the letter!!!

Elizabeth Pantley has made a huge difference in my life, my husband's life, and my daughter's life. She is eligible for any and all Humanitarian Awards given out in this country!!

Summary: Written especially for the sleepless parents
Review: Elizabeth Pantley's The No-Cry Sleep Solution: Gentle Ways To Help Your Baby Sleep Through the Night is a "user friendly" ten-step program written especially for the sleepless parents of crying infants. From taking precautions against Sudden Infant Death Syndrome; to avoiding linking a baby's sleep patterns; to sucking or being held; to simply balancing one's schedule to cope with the developing body and interspersed sleep habits of a newborn, The No-Cry Sleep Solution is an absolute "must" for any parent coping with an infant's restless and fussy night.

Summary: This WILL help you!
Review: There are so many great ideas in this book to try (it does not give you a regimen, which I really liked), I tried a few and they all moved my baby closer to sleeping better. He slept 7-10 hours a night now for over a week and he's only two months old. This is a wonderful book!!!

Summary: It worked for my 3 year old!
Review: I bought this book for my baby because we were still having sleep problems with my 3 year old and I didn't want to have the same problem with my new baby. My baby is now sleeping great, but I'm even more excited to report that the ideas solved the problems with my older child. She was still waking several times a night and getting in bed with us but now she sleeps *happily* in her own bed all night long!!! I have many books about children and sleep but they all advise some version of crying and don't seem to care about my children's feelings (or mine either!) This book is different. The author is a mother with 4 children and she obviously understands a mothers point of view. (And my husband loved the book too) It explains WHY you have sleep problems and HOW to solve them in easy to understand ways. I was impressed that the author doesn't judge a readers way of doing things and offers many different suggestions based on what YOU think is right. She doesn't preach only one right way like so many other sleep books do. Our whole family sleeps now. I LOVE this book!

Summary: Very Satisfied Mother of Six
Review: This is the first book by a "sleep expert" that has made perfect sense to me. I have six children and have tried many different approaches, this one is the best. This book is an easy read, offering simple and practical tips on improving your sleep and that of your baby. This is a book that does not preach any one type of parenting and it will not require you to give up your style... including attachment parenting! A great book!

Summary: Finally, a sensible child-based approach written by a Mom!
Review: I was delighted to discover a book that considered the needs of my child as she learns how to sleep through the night. As an educator, I spend much of my energy trying to listen to the needs of my students to help me plan for them. I only wish that I would have had Elizabeth Pantley's advice for my other two girls. Now, my little one is learning to sleep on her own without the trauma of crying it out. It takes time to learn something new. And with a patient and consistent parent each child can learn how to sleep through the night.

Summary: This book may have saved my life
Review: My baby was waking up every hour or MORE all night long and wouldn't nap for more than 30 minutes. I was so sleep-deprived that I fell asleep driving! Luckily, it was a minor accident, but it scared me (my baby was in the car, too!) It made me realize how critical it was that I get more sleep. I did an intense internet search on babies and sleep and discovered this author's web site. After reading all the excerpts and interviews with parents who had used these ideas I ordered the book. It's been only 3 weeks but my baby is now sleeping up to 5 hour stretches and napping 2 hours. I am feeling so much better now I can really enjoy my baby. I loved that this author isn't judgemental nor preachy. She's a mother and shares her knowledge in a kind and helpful way. There are tons of ideas and you choose from them to make up your own sleep plan. The forms and charts in the book are helpful. I am going to buy this for every one of my pregnant friends and know that they won't have to suffer the way that I did. (And now that I'm sleeping at night I'm ready to try for number two!) If you want to sleep, and don't want to make your baby cry, this is the only book with the answers.

Summary: I expected more
Review: I have been reading Dr. Sears' books for the past 12 years. In fact, I've raised my kids by them. I expected more from a sleep book he chose to endorse. Disappointing.

Summary: Success for working mom with twins!
Review: Before I got this book I was a walking zombie. I work and have 10 month old twins and between the two I was waking up every hour every night. I was desperate for answers but there was no way I was going to put my precious babies in their cribs to cry to sleep. This book was an answer to my prayers. When I read the first few sections it became obvious what my problems were, and the solutions given helped me overcome them. It took 3 weeks of consistent work, but they are now sleeping incredibly well. The key ideas that worked for me were: a bedtime routine, reading their sleepy signs, using white noise, not running to them when they made a sound, feeding them more during the day, using the "Gentle Removal" for both their bottles and pacifiers, and working with their daycare provider to help them have consistent naps. This book has so many ideas and the logs and questions help you determine which ones are best for your family to use. I would highly recommend this to parents of twins who don't want to go the crying route to better sleep.

Summary: Finally, a NO-CRY sleep solution!!
Review: No crying? How can this be true? Every book I have read on sleep and babies usually involves a certain amount of crying... usually a lot of crying. So, imagine my surprise when I picked up a copy of this book, read it and loved it! Elizabeth Pantley is first and foremost a mother of 4 as well as a published author (5 books) and parent educator. Her first 3 children are about 2 years apart, eight years later, came the loving inspiration for this book, Coleton. By the time Coleton was 12 months old and STILL not sleeping more than one and a half hours at a stretch, she was a tired mom. But like many moms out there, her exhaustion moved her to greatness. She became determined to find a plausible way to get our little ones to sleep without trauma to us or them.

Elizabeth compiled lots of notes and ideas and contacted other parents (her 'test parents') going through sleep dilemmas. She read and re-read all thebooks about babies and sleep. She viewed 'crying it out' as cruel and unusual punishment for all and ruled it out as an option early on in her parenting journey. She did however, discover many interesting ways to encourage sleep and she has put the whole process together in this book.

The No Cry Sleep Solution is for all parents. I recommend reading it before the baby comes. It addresses a whole myriad of sleep situations; co-sleeping, bassinet, crib, breast, bottle, pacifier or cup, only child or one of many. Elizabeth has a great way to help us see our good intentions as parents and how to achieve even better skills. The book comes complete with examples, sample 'logs' to use and many stories from parents. She has a great chart on how much sleep a baby/child truly needs and constant sweet reminders that she too is a push over for a crying baby or toddler.

She teaches patience and how to measure the smallest successes until they become big successes. She writes about baby safety, basic sleep facts, and getting started. She also writes about revising her 10 step plan until it works for you and yours.

Elizabeth's 10 step program will take you on an incredible journey to peace!! She has a monthly newsletter available from her website: pantley.com. Which serves to further remind us as parents that who we are and what we do is very important. Our future depends on us to do our best to raise the best kids ever so their future will be secure too. The No Cry Sleep Solution makes the whole process just a little easier by providing us with the often missed link to success....SLEEP.
