Summary: Suprisingly Great Book
Review: Don't get me wrong, I love Rosie. I get her magazine, I sometimes watch her show. I requested this book from the library and it took a little while before I got it. When I did get it, I was not in the mood to read "Rosie O was born on..." blahblahblah. So I left the book on my dining room table for 3 days. Then I picked it up while the kids were sleeping, and I NEVER PUT IT DOWN until I was done. Not only was this not your typical autobiography, it kept me on the edge of my seat wondering about "Stacie". I learned a lot about Rosie but not too much that she came across annoying. It proves that money does not always buy happiness (or sanity)! Great read. I recommend it to everyone!

Summary: Where have I heard this before?
Review: Is it just me, or did Armistead Maupin write this book a few years back and call it The Night Listener? Never mind, I enjoyed the ride. I was also pleasantly surprised that the gal who can tell a good tale, can also write one.

Summary: What's next?????
Review: This was a good book. It is definitely better than Rosie's other books, but it leads you to think what affliction she will come up with next. Yes, Rosie had a hard childhood, but who didn't. While the book draws you into it, in the back of your mind you are thinking: What's next? When is she going to tell us she is a Multiple? Yes, this book is a quick read, but only because you are wanting to hurry and turn the page to see what Rosie will come up with next. I would definitely wait till this book comes on the bargain table, I was disappointed I paid full price for it.

Review: Rosie has done an excellent job with writing this book. The story is quite captivating. Her ability to weave her childhood memories into what she learned about herself from a seeming stranger is fascinating. No, it is not a tell-all book. Yes, you might be amazed at her impulsiveness, but even she admits she's not proud of all her reactions. It is one person's story about her struggle with the trauma in her life. If that is interesting to you, pick up this book!

Review: If I'm supposed to find something here, I found interesting counterpoint. We have at least 4 melodies here. 1. autobiographical material. 2. helping a person in distress. 3. an e-mail salad. 4. the psychology of Rosie...Then the final chapter deals with life after death (she's not too sure). Who is?

Summary: Short review for a short book
Review: I am a dedicated Rosie O'Donnell fan as well as a dedicated memoir reader. This, however, is not Rosie's life story. Listen to the critics when they say this is not Rosie's tell-all tale. But it is excellent nonetheless. This book is the story of how a friendship, despite all the odds against it, can grow. Revealing her ever generous and compassionate side with complete modesty (Rosie's forte), Rosie's easy to read style takes you on a wild ride that you won't be able to put down. Be prepared to read this book in one sitting.

Review: No, this is not a tell all. This is a story about a troubled woman who reached out to another troubled woman. Very touching and honest. I was greatly moved!!

Summary: Not the Revelation I expected
Review: First off, I have to say that I enjoy Ms. O'Donnell's writing style. She tells a good story. I found myself drawn in and wanting to turn the next page to find out what happened next. On the downside, I felt the book didn't really do much to share with us the revelation this situation brought to Rosie's life. Or, at the very least.. it wasn't the WOW I GET IT response I was expecting. She does do a wonderful job conveying how she felt growing up motherless (though I suspect she held back). Overall, I'm glad I read the book. I did enjoy it and look forward to reading future books by Rosie O'Donnell.

Summary: A Fabulous Read
Review: For as short as it is, this book packs a whallop! It is wonderful on many levels. The story at the heart of the book is captivating and surprising and is, alone, enough to make it a great read. But along the way Rosie also makes the reader think about life and the forces that shape it, and she exposes thoughts and pieces of her life with such honesty that the reader can feel a real connection. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it gave me lots to think about. It's now one of my favorite books ever. Don't miss it.

Summary: She's a Rambling Woman...
Review: Boy, was I disappointed in this book. This slim volume contains a bunch of ramblings, vaguely centered on Rosie's relationship (if you can call it that) with a woman with multiple personality disorder. She talks about losing her mom, having OCD (maybe) and dealing with the problems of the MPD woman. I couldn't find the thread of the narrative, and felt like the story was very disjointed. Little aphorisms are sprinkled throughout, breaking up the story even more. My thought on finishing the book was "OK, so what?". Why was this story worth telling? Because she's Rosie, I guess.
