Rating: Summary: So Good I read it in one night Review: With in the first page I was hooked. I am a new mom who needs her sleep and I stayed up all night to read this book. It is so wonderful. I learned so much about myself, through Rosies book. She is an awesome woman!
Rating: Summary: powerful writing Review: Find Me is evidence--in book form-- of what has been evident since O'Donnell started her magazine. THE WOMAN CAN WRITE! Hers is not the over-worked, self-conscious prose that plagues so many memoirs. It is deceptively simple, refreshingly honest and insightful. Hers is not the typical celebrity story in which the author expects kudos for drawing breath. In fact, it is not her "life story" at all, but a slice of life- the elaboration of the point at which her life interesected with another. The power of that intersection casts her back to earlier years and ultimately gives her greater clarity about her future, and "made all difference."
Rating: Summary: Come On, Bessie... Review: I HATE reading. I don't even read books that are assigned for my classes. But, I found myself addicted to this novel. Rosie becomes a real person on the pages and not simply the celeb we always see on T.V. It's brutally honest and has it's moments where you can't stop laughing. But, Overall I found this book emotionally touching and a delight to read. Considering it is the first book I have completed since "The Cat In The Hat" says something about the intrest contained within the pages. I TOTALY disagree with Ro on this one~~This isn't just the best book you could have written~~IT IS THE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN!!
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: I enjoyed the book;however, I felt like Rosie tells you alot without revealing too much more than you already knew. I thought the book might chronicle her life more, where it sort of jumps from past to present and draws parallels between the two. I enjoyed the witty style of writing that she has, though. She wrote like she could have been talking face to face. I love her anyways, and I would have bought the book regardless.
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected, and I LOVED it. Review: I didn't know what to expect from this book. Lots of hype, lots of media attention on Rosie's orientation, blah, blah. I watch her show occasionally, and she's mentioned that it's not a book about her sex life. This is very true - that has nothing to do with anything. People who are complaining that she isn't dishing enough scoop on herself in the book must be missing the point. I've always liked her, and was interested to see what she wrote about... It is very moving and the story is not what I assumed it might be. I could not put it down and read the whole thing in a few hours. Very touching.
Rating: Summary: Find Me...in Vermont Review: Unbelievable. I am way too much like Rosie; except for the money part. I really wish I could be so lucky to have a friend, pen-pal, like Rosie. What does it take? I don't think I'm "weird" and I don't think I have any "disorders", but I do have a brain that works like hers. Come on Bessie?? Do you know how many times I say that in the winter (in VT) trying to get up my hill? Ask my 6 1/2 year old daughter....she'll tell ya! How many times have I sat and wished to be some different? Like BE Rosie?? I can't count that high, and I also can cry at the drop of a dime and get very teary eyed at things my daugher says and does. It is too weird. My aunt can't even tell me stories of when her husband lived with cancer. I cry for her. Weak heart? Not sure....gtg, just finished her book, now I have to wipe my tears and think about it her (Rosie) and the story all day! Love, Lisa :-)
Rating: Summary: A Compelling Story Review: As a big fan of Rosie, I waited anxiously for the arrival of this book. I had a hard time putting it down and did in fact finish it in a day. It is a compelling story of loss, hope, courage, and love. I was moved by the reflections that Rosie had of her mother, and amazed by the relationships that developed between Rosie and the women she befriended. Not only does Rosie have a gift of making people laugh, she also appears to have a gift of storytelling.
Rating: Summary: Thank-you Rosie! Review: This book was excellent. It was a very fast paced read, as if you were sitting in your living room talking to Rosie herself. She touched on many of the things I have been going through since my mother died. It was nice to know, I wasn't crazy and that these dreams and feelings happen to other people.
Rating: Summary: An Absolute Must Read... Review: I just received this book and read it in one sitting. It is an easy read, but it stops there. It is a raw, emotional, and inspiring tale of an individual that comes to the edge of letting all of America see inside her soul. The story of Stacie took me by complete surprise and how Ms. O'Donnell deals with the situation is awe-inspiring. Of course, there are humorous moments, but also heartbreaking ones, especially when talking of her childhood and the passing of her mother. The book says that an expert tells her some of her behavior is narcissistic, but I just see a human being that wants to kiss the world's "boo-boos" and make everything right. I stand in ovation and applaud with a resounding BRAVO, BRAVO!
Rating: Summary: I Loved This Book Review: I read this book in 3 and a half hours. I was not able to put it down. I am a big Rosie fan and had no clue what this book was to be about. Just that it was written by her and the proceeds would go to charity. This book touches every emotional sense when reading it. It makes you think about all the times you have reached out to help, wanting to make a difference, only to be disappointed at times and elated and euphoric at others. I would recommend this book to everyone. Don't just read it because Rosie wrote it. Read it because it is a good book worthy to be enjoyed by all.
