Summary: A Stream of Conciousness Journey
Review: I join in with the majority of reviewers who could not put this book down from start to finish. What an incredibly brutally honest book that reveals yet another facet of a brave and talented woman. RO is a ROle model for young girls and women who have strong beliefs and may have doubts about expressing those beliefs for fear of reprisal. It all comes down to honesty and humanity. Two characteristics that are the very definition of Rosie O'Donnell.

Summary: My Gratitude & Awe to Reviewers for Their Own Eloquence
Review: My eagerness to read this book is surpassed by the stunning and life-affirming eloquence, meaning and grace of so many of the reviewers. I am to receive my 15yr pin at the university, in absentia, but never once experienced such truth & understanding. I have never in my 40 years felt a sliver of the hope and benevolence that you have given me this torturous night of paralyzing fear [one of countless-all I had as an already panicked infant in an orphanage]. It is like love, and I have since received so much, could not reach my sense that my very being was an irredeemable outrage & sin.
It is incomprehsible to me that anyone would condemn a woman [as we are all mothers in our very essence] for becoming overtaken by the need to "try" to heal the broken heart & spirit of a child, especially when she has "lived" that wreckage herself. How can that be condemned as "selfish" - celebrity brings so much more pressure, judgemental scutiny, and heartless ridicule to women, in particular, these days. The courage it must take to be honest and to reach the hearts of so many with true humanity at a time, when the sound of self-righteous pretense crashing is deafening, is worthy of the greatest respect.

Summary: Find Rosie's book
Review: I just finished Rosie O'Donnell's biography and I have to admit it was an interesting journey. This is not the typical biography---starting with "I was born in such and such town" and so on. Instead Rosie gives us a glimpse of the kind of person she is through a story that is weaved into references of her mother's death and its powerful affect on her. The tragic rape and pregnancy of a 14 yr old that she encounters on the internet and becomes "obsessed" with helping is the story that unfolds and contains a lot of twists and turns. Rosie reveals a good deal of herself, flaws and all, through this little biography that leaves you wishing she would talk more. In trying to help this "victim" she realizes that she too needs help and guidance from friends and family. Rosie is an interesting person that I hate to see leave the world of television. Hopefully, we can look forward to more books from this talented lady.

Summary: An Afternoon Of Peace
Review: I love to read someone's words when it sounds and feels like your sitting next to them. I so enjoyed this book. I enjoy Rosie's style of talking. I picked this book up in the late afternoon, and didn't move from the couch. Thankfully, my husband was home to make dinner and play basketball with our boys! I did put it down to watch Will and Grace, but read it during the commercials. Although the story has a sad tale, weaved through is this other story of someone that needs to help so desperately that she forgets to check her sanity. I have to say I laughed out loud and teared up at some of the hopelessness in her words. I thought the very short chapters were an excellent use of words. Why say more when, if your talented enough, using each word wisely, makes reading feel more comfortable. I admit that I am usually a reader of romance trash( think Nora Roberts). This book took my whole soul in for a bit of time.

Summary: Good story... but why?
Review: I really enjoyed this book. The story was insightful, and thoughtful. But, and I wondered this throughout the entire book, why did Rosie write it? Why did she share it?
It was nice to get a personal glimpse into Rosie's life, and it was nice to read, in her own words, about her. But, while the story she told was interesting and very special, I didn't quite get why I was reading it. I kind of feel like Rosie was thinking out loud about a bizarre situation that she encountered and that I was eavesdropping. I mean, I guess not everything I read is for a reason, but I was wondering why this was published - I don't think that reason became clear anywhere in the book.
Was she self-exploring in front of the public? Was she trying to raise awareness about multiples? Was she trying to figure the situation out herself and decided to write it down to help? I am just not sure.
So, while I loved the content, and the story, I just can't seem to figure out why this was something she published and then, to take it one step further, I'm not sure why I read it. I guess because it was a quick and interesting read by someone I admire....

Summary: A very fast read and an incredible journey
Review: Be warned...If you buy this book you will most likely put everything down and read it straight through. It is definately a page-turner and incredibly interesting. I read it in about 3 hours.

After reading the book, what you find is that Ro, like the rest of us is human and not beyond hurt and neurosis and drama. What may shock people here is her lack of restraint. She does not even try to fake us out that she is the perfect day-time talk show host nor is she the new poster girl for the lesbian chic that has suddenly become perfectly welcomed by Hollywood.

Instead, she tells the story of an obsessive personality (hers) being drawn in by a multiple personality (Stacie's) and the lasting results that such a connection had in her personal life. You certinaly do not get the lesbian tell-all promised by the tabloids. You also do not get an in depth play-by-play account of her own journey through to stardom.

What you do get is a very honest and self-revlealing portrait of an imperfect woman, trying to find comfort in a connection with other imperfect souls. The book is well written, funny, and heartbreaking. I just hope that someone with as much insight into herself as Rosie has will be able to continue to cultivate herself and become the best that she can be for herself, her children and her partner.

She does not make any promises in the book...there is little resolution...which is actually refeshing. She simply tells it like it is and keeps going. I am sure she has quite a journey ahead of her...like everyone does.

All in all...a great read. Highly reccomended.

Summary: You WILL find Rosie in Find Me....in unexpected places
Review: Is it possible to write a celebrity autobiography that TRULY offers REAL surprises? It is possible to write a celebrity autobiography that doesn't celebrate the famous person's achievements, personality and decisions but (perhaps unwittingly) gets into bigger issues?

The answer, provided by Find Me, Rosie O'Donnell's potent, emotional and brutally honest autobiography is...YES.

Even the best celebrity autobiographies (and I LOVE reading them) sometimes resemble huge literary self-pats on the back. The glorification of "self" often oozes off each page like oil...and what's ofen lacking is the "spirit." You often feel that, no matter how hard he/she is on his/herself, the celebrity is saying: "Don't you wish you were me?" Or: "See how talented I am?"

O'Donnell's main belief, though, is quite different: "Nothing happens by chance." There's a reason for every success, failure or challenge...and a t.v. show and fame might not reflect life's REAL purpose and meaning.

You almost never see an autobiography questioning the idea of celebrity itself, the values that drive people to want to become celebrities, and what a famous person does with the wealth and power that often accompanies fame. And most celebrity autobiographies don't raise questions that make you THINK about human beings' tiny spark, called spirit, or innner light, that makes someone think less about themselves than others, not just about their immediate family but their human extended family.

Find Me is a HUGE SURPRISE. I ordered this before publication and fully expected a very readable, fun and enlightening light-weight autobiography...and instead I experienced a roller coast of emotions and surprises. At times suspenseful, always powerful and painfully frank, Find Me, is one of the most unusual and innovative celebrity autobiographies ever penned.

From the early pages where Rosie contacts a 14 year old girl who she was told had been raped, you will be SURPRISED. And the surprises are STUNNING. This book can be ruined by revealing too much but here are some reasons to read it:

It really moves. It's not ponderous, long or overwritten. Ms. O'Donnell isn't trying to sell herself to her readers as a genius, as better than they are. Nor does she batter them with pity-seeking accounts of childhood traumas -- but DOES recount childhood traumas in a refreshing and moving way. Her no-holds-barred candor is what makes this surprising story and innovative approach work.

And, NO, this is absolutely NOT a book about her sexual preferences. That aspect clearly was exploited by some in the media as a news "hook" and by those who disagree with her political stands. Parts referring to that are exceptionally brief and mentioned only in passing. Anyone who blasts Find Me because of that clearly has not read it or doesn't know how to read.

Find Me's drama lies in the tale of Rosie's attempt to help a young person...where this trail leads...and what she learns about herself and life itself. She accounts her growing feeling that it was time to leave her show because what constitutes the real Rosie O'Donnell was not necessarily the woman on the t.v. screen, even though increasingly large sums of money were repeatedly dangled in front of her.

Her tale is told through a mix of narrative, emails, a smattering of poetry, even accounts of dreams. You'll FEEL her childhood and present day traumas and virtually taste her overwhelming desire to use her time on this earth helping others, especially young people.

These are all bits and pieces of Rosie, held together by the highly dramatic central story. Find Me was written right from the heart -- and that is precisely where you will find Rosie O'Donnell.

Summary: Compelling, but almost disturbing.
Review: I thought this book was a page turner, but it left me feeling a little sad for Rosie. Not sad for where she has been, but sad when I think about where she is going. I hope she finds happiness and peace in her life. This book shows a side of Rosie that no one who watches her show would ever expect. She is a survivor of a childhood that was at times very difficult. She has risen, literally out of the ashes, but remains very tormented and unhappy about certain aspects of her life. She is very honest about her self described shortcomings and the book is very well written.

Summary: Perfect!
Review: This book has made me look at Rosie in a different light. She's amazing on tv and off.

I'm an 18 year old who hates reading, but this book made me love it. I've read 2 books front to back in my life. Harry Potter and Find Me.

I surprised myself when I finished this book in less then 2 days. I've never met Rosie, but somday I hope I get the chance. I would take it.

2 thumbs way up. And Rosie, if you ever read this, your an amazing person and to me, you'll always be 'Good Ole Rosie'. Thanks for the memories!! Peace out!
