Rating: Summary: Down to earth and relevant Review: I love Debbie's column which I receive in my e-mail on a regular basis. I also love this book. It is full of some very funny insights into life as a parent. She is someone who has been "in the trenches", so to speak and knows exactly what it feels like when your darling children are ready to drive you to the funny farm. She writes with a loving heart that shows the best way to handle many situations is to laugh about it. Sometimes parenting children can push you to the end of your rope and the best thing for you and your children is to stand back, take a deep breath and let out a good belly laugh. I look forward to a follow-up book in the future.

Rating: Summary: Exceedingly Funny! Review: The next time I see a woman dragging her leg across the supermarket aisle, with a child clinging on it, I won't stare at her in amusement. I'll shoot her an understanding look. Because through her book "Don't put Lipstick on the Cat," Debbie Farmer has given me a whole new perspective on parenting. One that's quite depicting, and at the same time absolutely hilarious!
In a collection of almost 90 essays on the humorous side of parenting, Farmer takes us through some of the routine incidents of her life. Like the time her son went through a eat-only-blue things phase, or when she bought her daughter a new and natural Barbie, which was immediately traded in for a better model. Or the time her mother moved in next door making her feel like a teenager once again, only to find her daughter behaving the exact same way.
Then there are the numerous school tales-being asked to sew her daughter's first Brownie badge on her uniform, carving dinosaurs in Pumpkins, being a volunteer at the bookstore and managing a class of tiny toddlers as she tried to help them make a fruit salad. All incidents that went bust and left her feeling drained, but will definitely have you laughing to tears.
Parents will immensely enjoy this book as they have those "My kid does that too!" moments and as they discover they're not the only ones being thrown out of restaurants or parking their kids in front of televisions for just one moment of peace and quiet.
If you're looking for a couple of laughs, and some great reading, get this book. I highly recommend it.
