Summary: Major Disappointment
Review: I was excited to start reading this but after a few pages I realized that this is a book written for men who are being dragged kicking and screaming into fatherhood because it's going to interfere with their drinking and golf game. For those of us who can't wait and want some real information on what's taking place and how we can help, this book is completely useless.
It also seems to be written from another time and place in some imagined history. Advising us not to drink in front of our wives, not to look at other women or to comment on her weight. We're actually given such gems as to hide the liquor until after the baby arrives - just in case she can't control herself in private, and to ask that gentleman at the bar to not smoke in front of your wife!
There are a few descent tips but your time would be better spent on another book.

Summary: Fun to read, great for Dad-to-be
Review: I was searching for a pregnancy book that my husband would enjoy reading when I discovered She's Having a Baby. Since we were expecting our third child, being pregnant was nothing new for us. James Barron provides an accurate and often homorous look at pregnancy through the eyes of a father to be. As I read the book, I found myself laughing at the thought of my own husband musing about my ever-changing body, mood swings, enormous appetite, and fascination with the size and shape of my belly. Gene laughed harder than I did at many of the comments and smirked a time or two when I asked if he really had thought the same thoughts Mr. Barron described. This book won't give you much medical information but it will provide an insightful look at pregnancy from the viewpoint of a dad-to-be. A Child is Born is also an excellent resource as it contains detailed pictures of the unborn baby. We're Pregnant! is another good resource as it contains a down-to-earth look at pregnancy from the viewpoint of both an expectant mother and expectant father.

Summary: Not for everyone
Review: If I wanted over 200 hundreds pieces of advice on pregnancy, I'd ask my mother-in-law.

Summary: Don't Waste Your Money
Review: If you are a first time father to be and have absolutely no inkling of sensitivity towards your wife and no clue what pregnancy is all about, then maybe you should get this book, but do yourself a favor and check it out from the library. The very fact that you can read it in a span of 10 minutes and catch all the useful information says a lot. You could surf the internet for 5 minutes and get all the info that is in this book. If it doesn't insult a man's intelligence - it should!

Review: My husband and I both LOVED this book! It is so funny and also so true! I had purchased so many pregnancy books for myself and he had nothing to read. My books grossed him out because of the pictures and descriptions. This is a true, but lighthearted look at pregnancy! A definite must-have for any first time father!

Summary: Informative and Lighthearted!
Review: My husband was glued to this book for days after I bought it for him! Although he is fascinated with my "technical" pregnancy books, "She's Having a Baby" was the first to tell HIM what to expect from his ever-changing wife. It is so much fun that I've been reading it too!

Summary: A readers Digest version
Review: My husband works close to 80 hours a week, getting him to read anything but a newspaper is not easy. I purchased this book late in pregnancy for fathers day and he has been reading it. His only comment that was negative was that some of the humor was a little on the corny side, but other than that the book is short, to the point and gives him an idea of what to expect from the day you both find our to the first days home. It really gives him an idea as to what I am going through. This book is perfect for the first time dad.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very funny and right on target
Review: She's Having a Baby is an excellent book for both fathers and mothers-to-be. It is funny and accurately captures the many thoughts and emotions that couples tend to experience during their pregnancy. I laughed out loud many times as I read the book. I knew exactly what Mr. Barron was talking about more times than I would like to admit. From a father's viewpoint, my two favorite pregancy books are this one and a book called We're Pregnant! - written by an expectant mother and father and also very candid, funny and true-to-life.
