Summary: stop with the hallmark quotes
Review: a decent book if you take it point-by-point, but my GOSH the endless 'life lessons' in each paragraph get annoying, nauseating, etc. and some of the info is inaccurate, for instance, it's perfectly fine for a pregnant woman to drink coffee but the book says they can't. cute read, but skip the last few lines of each paragraph and you'll be happier.

Summary: A cute book, but not a great pregnancy resource.
Review: Although this book is very well written and will definitely elicit laughs from the reader, I was disappointed in the formatting and lack of real medical information. For example, my husband wanted to find out exactly what an amnio was, and tried to find out in this book - there is no index or guide, and he had to thumb through the book until he found it among random second trimester advice. The book is rather small, and is divided into 3 sections, one for each trimester. Maybe I'm just looking at it from a female standpoint, but both my husband and I were frustrated that there is really not any true medical content. This is a great, quick read (very funny and some sweet suggestions for every hubby) as long as you are just looking for a break from medical jargon and a humorous approach to each trimester.

Summary: Yes Yes Yes!
Review: Barron has a knack for articulating the male condition during that first pregnancy. If you're gonna b e a dad, you owe it to yourself to take a look at this book. If you do, you won't be able to put it down.

Summary: Best Parenting Books of l998--Child Magazine
Review: Child Magazine awarded this book "Best Parenting Books of l998." "This light-hearted book targets the husband's role (both real and assumed) during his wife's pregnancy. From conquering insurance paperwork to understanding what goes on during a routine ob/gyn visit to no-nonsense behavior during delivery, the author handles a wealth of material with more than a little laugh-out-loud wisdom."

Summary: A great gift to give an expectant dad.
Review: Fathers need to know that while they can't get pregnant, they can certainly share in the process from the very beginning...past conception. Mr. Barron has written a sensitive, humorous and useful book for expectant fathers. I will recommend it to our clients. In fact, I already have! Good work Mr. Barron.

Summary: Buy this for him now!!
Review: I am 7 1/2months pregnant with my first child and just bought this book for my husband for his birthday last week. WHAT WAS I WAITING FOR??? In less than a week this book has changed my husband from a terrified, distant, unaffectionate husband into someone who wants to take my picture so I can see how beautiful I am when I'm pregnant! And he's bringing home presents to show me how much I'm appreciated. I have read a few chapters with him and have laughed out loud. This book has totally lightened the mood in our house and made me feel like my husband finally has some idea of what WE are going through.

Summary: Terrific for all expectant parents!
Review: I bought this book for my husband - and read it cover to cover myself first! It is hilarious! And almost all true. I bookmarked significant passages for him. I'll let you know how he likes it. I think he'll love it.

Summary: Very useful
Review: I bought this book for my husband to help him thru the trials and tribulations of my pregnancy, of which I am having many. It has been extremely useful, and I believe it has given my husband real insight into what I have been going thru and how I feel. I feel like he sympathizes more and is more supportive since he has read it. Whenever I try to enlighten him about something, he says "I know that, I read it in my book!"

Summary: Great bathroom book for first time dads!
Review: I bought this book for my husband when we found out we were having our first baby. I first bought myself 3 books on pregnancy and he was annoyed that I was always reading them and he had nothing to read, I told him he could read my books too but he didn't like them. I then discovered this little gem. It is written in numbered sections, most being a page or less. It is a perfect book to leave in the bathroom if that is your husband's favourite reading spot, like mine! It is NOT a medical book, he will have to look at your books for any details but does tell him how to deal with all your symptoms including hormone craziness, worrying about miscarriage, getting fat... Even tells him how not to react if he happens to ingest a bit of breast milk later in the pregnancy! Very funny and well written. It validates alot of the feelings men go through too, worries about money, their wive's health etc... I would highly recommend it.

Summary: Happy Neanderthals should read Breathe too
Review: I enjoyed this book immensely, although for sheer volume of sexist, nonsensical, chauvinistic, and hilarious advice, I preferred Breathe! A Guy's Guide to Pregnancy. It's got no useful medical advice whatsoever and is written by a National Lampoon'er.
