Summary: the reality of pregnancy
Review: I have bought tons of books on pregnancy since I found out I too had becaome part of the club. This is the only book I really enjoyed reading. It is filled with real advice on practically anything you can think of having to do with pregnancy. I finished it very quickly and I was very thankful for the book when I had a small emergency during my pregnancy that had been covered by the author. I recomend this to anyone who is pregnant and find it a relief from the other books that tell us pregnant women that we can cheat on our diets once a week and have a bagel or some bread. Thank you Vicki and all the girlfriends for calming my fears, making me laugh and shedding some light on much needed information.

Summary: A must-have for first timers,
Review: Since this is my first...I have bought (like many others)various books on pregnancy. All have been great and informative. But, in my opinion, every first time mom needs to have this book in their personal library. It is absolutely hilarious as well as straight to the point. I felt like I was on the phone with my girlfriends...I lent this book to my co-worker and have given this to my other friends who are expecting their first. This is a hilarious and warm-hearted addition to your pregnancy library.

Summary: The perfect cure for the pregnancy blues!
Review: This is my first pregnancy, and friends got me both this and What to Expect When You're Expecting..and they are both invaluable! they are very different books....What to Expect is a great reference, but the Girlfirend's Guide is what will really help you keep your sanity...when you're ready to kill your spouse, or feel like sobbing uncontrollably, crack it open and cheer yourself up...it had me laughing out loud no matter what mood I was in when I started reading.

It also does have some very practical advice, which is presented in a format that makes it easier to remember than something like What to Expect. I loved the down-to-earth attitude...this book will never make you feel bad for eating chocolate or forgetting to do your Kegels!

Summary: The Best Pregnancy Book I Have
Review: I love this book. She gives real advice, candidly without all the BS and the condescending tone of other Pregnancy books like "What to Expect When Your Expecting". She doesn't scare you to death and reminds the reader that women have been doing this for thousands of years! Buy this one!

Summary: A Mind-Saver!
Review: I absolutely adore this book! Vicki is funny, straight-talking & very "connect-able" - her words relieved my fears & made me laugh like none of the other pregnancy books did. I totally dig the idea that every woman who's become a mother is now a "girlfriend"!

Summary: The Best Pregnancy Book I've Read
Review: My best friend told me about this book and I am so glad I bought it. The author skips all the bull and tells us first timers how it really is. The book is full of laughs and stories that you can actually relate to making you feel like you're really talking to your girlfirends. It made me feel so much better about my pregnancy. Just knowing that the changes happening to your body are normal during pregnancy eases the stress and puts your worries to rest.

Summary: Saved my mind!
Review: I read this book while I was pregnant for the first time. I am SO glad I found this book; it eased my fears so much, and it also let me know that I'm not the only woman to fear the same things I'm also so excited about. I recommend reading this in conjunction with a more medical type book.

Summary: Funny and informative!
Review: This was my favorite out of all of the pregnancy books that I read while pregnant, and trust me, I read a ton of them. This book was not only funny (unlike the other books) it was the ONLY one to tell me things that no one else had the courage to. Like, what things would be like after the birth: the stitches, the mess, the whole "not being able to sit down right" sort of thing, that people just seem to keep to themselves.

I appreciated the sincerity of the facts, as presented in this book. The author has gone through this a few times and really knows her stuff. Not only was it a joy to read, it helped me to understand and cope with the new things that were happening to my body. This is a book that is not to be missed by pregnant women.

Summary: Finally a book about pregnancy that makes you laugh!
Review: The tiltle says that this isn't coming from a doctor, so take everything with a grain of salt. Absolutely every page is informative from the perspective of someone who's been there. Vicki is quick to point out that what happened to her may not happen to you. Every pregnancy is diferent. This book is a refreshing departure from the dry analytical books which others recommend as "bibles". Buy it, read it and enjoy. The joy of pregnancy is too short to take it too seriously!

Summary: Belly Laughs
Review: I loved this book! It is not a preachy, what to do/what not to do kind of book. If you want to have a lot of laughs and fun, then this is the kind of lighthearted, entertaining book for you. If you want serious, doctor recommended advice, shop elsewhere.
