Summary: First time moms!!
Review: This book is THE best for first time moms!!!!!
After reading so many baby books on what to expect, I loved the humor & "women talk" of this book. I was laughing so hard I couldn't put it down!!! The advice is useful and funny and the book is great to share with your hubby & girlfriends.
Definately give this as a gift -ASAP- if you know someone is expecting!!!

Summary: Most useful for first timers
Review: This book fills in all the missing DETAILS about pregnancy that aren't in the "other" books. Breaks all the bad news firmly but gently and doesn't apologize for the facts. Doesn't pull any punches. And not at all clinical. Written totally from the perspective of the pregnant woman; doesn't suck up to the medical community at all. Only chapter I had some problems with was the one on fitness/exercise during pregnancy.

Summary: BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!
Review: I purchased this book based on some very favorable reviews on this website and because I'd heard this book was sooooo funny! Well, it was insulting to me!
I'm not pregnant yet... But, while we're waiting, I'm reading everything I can about pregnancy and childbirth.
I was sooo excited when I bought this book! I just knew I was in for a treat! Well, I quickly determined that I'd just wasted [my money]. Not one to abandon a book...I read all the way up to chapter 5. Then, I just couldn't read another page. It was insulting to read her "professional" opinions. I wish I'd borrowed this one from someone! I sure would love my [money] back!!!

Summary: Funny, but shouldn't be your main source for information
Review: I liked the authors style, but two things bugged me. (1) She keeps touting that pregnancy lasts 10 months (because, as she says there are 4 weeks in each month, and since pregnancy is 40 weeks, that's 10 months). That's just not true otherwise our year would only be 48 weeks long! There are on average 4.33 weeks in each month (52 weeks divided by 12 months) so a pregnancy is just about 9 months. (2) She complained about having to "go through the x-ray machine at the airport". I believe she was actually talking about the metal detector that people walk through - the only x-ray machine is the one that your bags go through. So, no need to make pregnant women fear the metal detectors at airports - there are no x-rays scanning you, just your bags! On the whole this was funny, and some important information that women aren't getting elsewhere is provided.

Summary: Very Real and Funny
Review: My husband is a physician and he was surprised by the information she provided. I felt so identified with her. It was like my story on the book, it help me a lot when I felt nobody could understand my feelings.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A funny, relaxing read
Review: While I don't agree with everything that the author promotes (I do not think an occasional glass of wine is ok, and I do not agree that you should be drinking coffee whenever you feel like it) the book is very funny and takes you mind off of the more serious stuff for a while. So you don't agree with everything, shkip what you don't like. This isn't meant to be a medical book or a What to Expect book, but rather a funny, laugh-out-loud look at pregnancy. Put your feet up, grab a (healthy) snack, and enjoy!

Summary: Very Entertaining!
Review: We are trying to conceive and I am finding this book to be very entertaining and informative. I find myself laughing out loud at the author's wonderful sense of humor. I plan on buying this book for all of my pregnant friends!

Summary: Not what I expected!
Review: I bought this book thinking it would be fun. I was hoping it would ease some of my fears and tensions but it did the exact opposite. It scared me! Some of it is funny-but she really focuses on some mediocre stuff that most likely the majority of us wouldn't even worry about. I felt depressed after I read it-then I realized it was just a book and I am not going to let one lousy book get me upset.

Summary: HILARIOUS outlook on pregnancy!
Review: This book was given to me by a friend.
It was soooo funny! It's so "matter of fact" about your pregnancy. She tells you whats going to happen without tippy toeing around the facts. Just says it like it is!
I bet the author would be one of the funnest people to know!
I highly recommend this book, and intend to buy it for pregnant friends in the future.

Summary: Should be titled ¿Cheerleading Squads Guide to Pregnancy¿
Review: o.k., I admit I have laughed out loud reading this book. I've read about Vicki's 20 girlfriends who've been pregnant and all of their trials and tribulations with pregnancy & delivery. However, for those of us who have supportive husbands who DO want to have children (and didn't "knock us up" by accident) or for those of us who already have imperfect bodies and don't obsess about outgrowing our size 4 jeans, some of her banter is really irritating. The book is a good one to add to the collection but it's not the one to refer to for anything too serious.
