Summary: great cookbook (for kids AND parents) with tons of variety!
Review: frankly, i was a bit surprised to read the negative reviews for this book! out of 365 recipes, of course you're not going to like every single one of them. my kids DO love fish and vegetables, and sheila ellison gives me plenty of different, fun ways to prepare healthy meals for them in this book (as well as many other kinds of food, of course). many of the recipes are ideal for the kids to participate in cooking them, as well. get your kids to try something new! i love the fact that the book contains recipes i'll actually eat with my kids, and i can feel good about serving a family meal that is enjoyable and healthy. not to mention the book contains the best chocolate chip cookie recipe on the planet (and my kids will attest to that!)...

Summary: Kids Do Love to Eat, and I Love This Book
Review: I am a chef at a daycare center, and I've used many recipes from this book to help compile nutritious meal plans for the children. But I'm also a mom of a 7-year-old boy who loves to cook, and the best part about this book is going through it with my son, finding recipes to make, and doing it together. The recipes are divided up nicely into categories (baby food, beverages, breads and muffins, breakfast, fruits, do it yourself, lunch boxes, salads, sandwiches, soups, snacks, cookies, designer foods, pasta, vegetables, meats, poultry, fish, desserts, parties, holidays, and foreign foods). It's great because there's so much variety, with different kinds of food for different tastes; both younger and older kids will find something they like. Even finicky eaters can find that food is fun if you choose recipes they can prepare with you. The kids' drawings which illustrate the cookbook are a nice touch. Only one recipe I've tried hasn't come out, and that's the fun fortune cookies, but everything else has been yummy. Definitely pick this up if you cook for or with kids and want a fun book to choose meals from.

Summary: some fun recipes and ideas... BUT...
Review: My two toddlers won't eat 95% of the stuff in this book. If you have a picky eater, this book may or may not be helpful. For the parent who wants fun recipe ideas for kids who are not very picky, this book is worth a try.

Summary: Recommended for a family cookbook collection
Review: Practical recipes that are delicious for kids and parents alike. Ingredients are common and easy-to-find. Wide variety of recipes, from down-to-earth standby's to fanciful concoctions! I found this book at the library, and have used it several times a week since! My husband loves it too.

Summary: Not as Kid-Oriented as I'd Hoped
Review: The authors suggest banning the use of the words "Yuk" and "Do I Have to Eat This?" I couldn't agree more, and I would start by banning recipes like Salmon Asparagus Roulade, Shrimp and Fish Mornay, Tuna Souffles, and Asparagus Crepes from a kids cookbook. My kids, at least, DON'T love to eat this way. Not exactly what I was hoping to find.

Summary: Directions incomplete and poorly written
Review: The recipe directions are incomplete and poorly written. The only reason we can cook from it at all is through years of cooking experience. There are many other cookbooks that would be better to own than this one!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not what I had hoped for
Review: There are some good recipes in this book. Unfortunately, you have to hunt them up, because there are also a number that caused my husband to go "YUK" louder than my kids. Some of the recipes are just plain weird. Pancake Soup? Carrot Mushroom Loaf? It's also not terribly well organized and too tightly bound, so the recipes I do like are frequently hard to find, and when I do find them, I can't get the book to stay open to read them. I would recommend First Meals by Annabel Karmel as a good alternative, particularly for people with younger kids.

Summary: A step beyond the PBJ
Review: This is a good cookbook. There is a lot of variety, all recipes are simple to follow. No special tools or ingrediants are required. Most are easy enough for the kids to do. There is even a section about foriegn foods with a few international recipes. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking to add a little variety in what their kids eat.
