Summary: Not worth buying
Review: I have her first 2 books and I think they are great. This one was not what I was hoping for. Many of the recipes simply taste terrible and the amounts etc. are inaccurate. I also noticed that she cut and pasted many of the recipes and only changed one ingredient. I expected more from her and would think twice before buying another one of her books.

Summary: A useful book...for the wrong reasons
Review: I have read and followed Marilu's "30 Day Total Health Makeover" programme, and I could not recomend it higher to anyone who wants to feel their best.I was therefore thrilled when I saw this book coming out and rushed to order it.I was not disappointed to the point of sending it back, but not for the reasons presumed.

The most useful sections of the book are those dealing with organising your pantry with healthy ( no-meat, no-sugar, no-dairy ) alternatives, plus substitutes for chemical detergents, and the glossary.

I would recomend that you use this book ONLY after you have gained confidence with the " 30 Day " lifestyle.Tastes may come as a disappointment sometimes. We have to admit,as this book proves, that there is no tasty substitute for cheese, and those suggested are not necessarily healthier. Actually,if you are committed to following a dairy-free diet,I believe that you would be better off if you forgot about cheese alltogether.

I would therefore advise you to use the book as a reference if you are interested at "alternative" pantry organisation( although the undescribable green and salmon lettering will certainly put you off from going back to it as often as you would wish to )or if you need guidance in order to enrich your dairy-free menues. But, really, nothing Marilu hasn't told us already. And this IS a disappointment. Marilu, you can certainly do better than that!

Summary: Healthy cooking
Review: I have read both of Marilu Henners Total health Makeover books and this new cookbook is much more than I could have imagined. Not only is the book full of recipes good for you and good to eat, but the book has wonderful content on how to set up your kitchen in the most convenient manner, and how to change any recipe into a Total health recipe. It also contains lists of the many harmful chemicals that are in our processed foods today. I was unhappy with many of the recipes in the 30 day THM because they were expensive, but the recipes in this cookbook are easy to make without having to invest a fortune. I love this new book and can't wait to try all the recipes in it. They are sure to be as pleasing as the ones already devoured by my family.

Summary: Great new book by Marilu
Review: I love all of Marilu's books, but this one is the best. The recipes are so easy and delicious. Best of all, my kids enjoy the food. That's very important to me. I have lost 11 pounds since doing the dairy, meat and sugar free habits, and my 4 children behave a little better since reading I Refuse To Raise A Brat! :-) Thank you Marilu!

Summary: Dana
Review: I LOVE this book! I have tried several of the receipes and they have all been hits with my family. I found the section about going through your kitchen to be very helpful. I also thought the section about shopping in the health food store was great! I would never have been able to find all the things I was looking for. I was having some minor health problems and with the changes in my diet I am now completely off all medications. I have so much more energy and feel great. I hope that Marilu continues to write this type of book. I found it easy and enjoyable to read.

Summary: sick of marilu
Review: I realize that she has many talents but her books are so much of the same thing! The recipes are difficult and time consuming and she has a very arrogant "I'm right about everything" attitude going. I think her book "I refuse to raise a brat" put me over the edge. I respect her for putting health first and sharing her ideas but her books are the same old things over and over and over ...

Summary: Did anyone bother to try any of the recipes before printing?
Review: I tried two of the recipes the day I got the cookbook and found them disastrous. The banana bead needed moisture and the thai coleslaw was horrible. I cook quite a bit and was disappointed with the results of these two recipes. This book gets donated to my local library.

Summary: Not As User Friendly As Hoped
Review: I was very excited about this cookbook, until I started trying the recipes. I have tried approximately ten recipes, and although most are great, there are some errors in measurements and the recipe does not come out right. It's frustrating to spend an afternoon cooking something you hope to eat and have it be inedible, even if you can fix it the next time. One I've noticed, but have not baked, is the "cheesecake" recipe, which calls for 1 tablespoon of tofu and 1 tablespoon of the other main ingredient... This is obviously not correct, but there is no way to figure out with what the "tablespoon" should be replaced. I have tried her web site but there is no place to post questions to correct these errors. I hope these errors are discovered because the recipes that were correct were great, and I feel so much better when I eat under her plan. Perhaps a more experienced cook could figure out the corrections before cooking, but I am not that cook, so I have been frustrated with this purchase.

Summary: great family-friendly recipes!
Review: I'm always looking for healthy, nutritious meals to feed my family. There are so many great recipes in this book - and everyone loves them! From meatloaf to mac & cheese, from muffins to cookies - everything we've tried has been excellent! Plus, so many of the recipes are good enough to serve company - and cheaper than eating at a restaurant. Even if you don't follow Marilu's health and diet plan, you'll love these recipes. They're amazingly good, and good for you, too!
