Rating: Summary: Winner of the prestigous James Beard Award! Review: This cookbook just won the prestigous James Beard Award. How can a cookbook merit such a coveted award and garner such bland reviews? I was planning to order it today online until I read these reviews. I highly recommend the Lean Star Cuisine cookbook published by Lake Austin Resort in Austin, Texas. Spicy, easy and delicious recipes fill the pages.

Unlike other cookbooks, particularly vegan or vegetarian cookbooks, the recipes use easy to obtain ingredients that you can get anywhere. This is key in the short preparation time.If you have kids, and want them to get a wide variety of vegetables or make them a meal that combines certain nutritional necessities, the book discusses foods, portions, and servings for a variety of different health needs. It also tells you exactly what's good and bad about different foods. For instance, an avocado has three times the amount of potassium as a banana.

Rating: Summary: Healthy haute cuisine! Review: Yes, you won't like this book if a Value Meal is your idea of good eats, but if you are interested in providing healthy meals for your family while introducing them to varied foods then this is the book for you. Too many Americans turn their noses up at 'healthy food' because they have never had them prepared for them in a delicious and eye-catching manner. This book was enough for me to try brussels sprouts for the first time. Americans need more books that make healthy food palpatable. This generation of Americans continues to eat 'crap' because that what has been served to them. Break the cycle by preparing things from this book!
