Rating: Summary: The Carbohydrate Addict's Cookbook Review: The recipes in this book are excellant, unfortunately due to the fact that I am lactose intolerant most of the recipes contain milk products therefore I can make them but can't eat them. I'd appreciate soo much a book written for those of us who would like to enjoy dairy-free recipes.
Rating: Summary: This book is a must for every kitchen! Review: This is an excellent companion cookbook for any of the Heller's programs, or any other program controlling your carbohydrate intake. The recipes in this cookbook are easy to prepare, using normal pantry ingredients. Most of the recipes are not run-of-the-mill items, these recipes were written so that anyone controlling their carbohydrates will have choices of delicious, easy meals. Many of these new recipes have now become staples in my home. Try it, I know you'll like it.
Rating: Summary: It's So Great I Can't Believe It's a Diet Cookbook Review: This is the best cookbook ever! Can't believe it's low-carb. I would gladly cook up these recipes without being on a diet. They're easy and fast and most require only a couple of simple ingredients. Don't know how they did it - they made it so simple. But the really good point is the taste. I would use this cookbook instead of Joy of Cooking anyday - and I've lost eight pounds in two weeks. Not bad!
Rating: Summary: The Carbohydrate Addict's Cookbook Review: This is the best cookbook I own, and believe me, I own a lot. It is full of recipes that are easily prepared, healthy and tasty. The reviewer that did not like this book, made a keen observation. This is not a DIET, it is a way of eating. There is no measuring, or counting of calories or grams of fat, so nutritional information is not necessary with this plan. It is making healthy choices of wonderful craving reducing vegetables combined with lean protein. It is not a diet of elimination or deprivation. The program shows you how to regulate your insulin production, and control your cravings by eating healthy foods and healthy fats with smart carb choices. I believe these recipes will be loved by all, but more appreciated once you have read the Carbohydrate Addict's Healthy Heart Program, or the Carbohydrate Addict's Lifespan Program.

Rating: Summary: zzzzzzzzzzz Review: What is it about a cookbook that really makes it jump off the shelf and into your kitchen? Some cookbooks have a gift for making you want to try everything. This book does not do that. At least not for me. I found myself skimming through the book, and not really noticing anything that gave me an "I gotta try that one" response. Maybe it's the lack of pictures, or the haphazard layout. Either way, I don't find it useful -- whether the recipes are good or not. I guess I'll look at it again... one of these days.

Rating: Summary: Not What I Expected Review: Yes, there are some tasty looking recipes here, but I expected (and need) nutritional info for each recipe. I'm very disappointed that this information is not included. Recipes that "cut the cravings" just isn't the truth for me. I am a true carb addict, so I have to be very careful with my carb intake, because once I go too far then I just can't stop. I've needed to modify the reward meal - no sugar, no starches, etc. and I have to make sure the carbs are less than 10g or I'm headed for a binge. So without the nutritional breakdown, I'll only try those recipe which are obviously very low in carbs. Therefore, I'm not going to use this cookbook very much. I think I own a copy of every low-carb cookbook on the market and I still think that the best one out there is "Lauri's Low-Carb Cookbook" by Lauri Ann Randolph. If you are only going to buy one low carb cookbook, try Lauri's.
