Summary: Too Much Repetitive Information
Review: While there is some useful information about making fresh baby food and safely storing it, most of the book is repetitive. Also, a bit ridiculous - who wants to make their own yogurt from scratch? A better book is "First Meals."

Summary: One of the best
Review: This is one of the best books out there! I purchased this book when my ten-month-old finally got interested in solid food, and i found supermarket food to be inferior to what I knew I could do in my own kitchen. To those of you thinking that they don't have time to do thepreparation, it really isn't that hard, and takes only a few hours a month to do. Investing a little time saves you lots of money and makes for happy babies! I plan on using this with my next child (9 months pregnant now!).

The added sections on Arts and Crafts, tips, household hints, etc. are invaluable. I never successfully got blood stains out of clothes until I read this! I also think the recipes and the nutrition section are great tools. If you want a book that has a little of everything and is written in plain language, then this is the book for you. This is the first book I read that didn't make me feel guilt I was trying to be frugal and still raise a healthy child!

Summary: Good, but incomplete
Review: My kids eat a lot of the recipes from this book, and I use a lot of the cleaning ideas. This book would be so much better if the author set aside her personal feelings (the ones about meat get really annoying) and tried to be more comprehensive. My kids are sensitive to dairy and could never eat the way Ms. Yaron suggests. At least the second edition includes some meat recipes. Cookbooks should TEACH about food, not PREACH!

Summary: Super book for super parents
Review: This book has been my bible as both my boys have progressed through various eating stages. Even if you aren't vegetarian and don't want to make ALL your own baby food, it is the best resource I found.

Summary: My baby food bible
Review: What can I say, I love this book. The only cons I can think of are: my twins can no way eat as much as she recommends. I also think she goes over board on the "clean" issues when making baby food, but I'm guessing that is for liability reasons. She is also pro-vegetarian, so that could be a turn off too.

But all in all, I could not have gotten started making baby food with out this book. Even now my twins are 9 months old and I still open the book weekly for ideas and to refresh my memory. This is a book for any parent..even if you do not plan on making baby food in the beginning. My girls eat table food now and it gives good ideas on what to offer. Brussel sprouts, beets, etc, things I just would not think of

Summary: Saving Money, Made Easy!
Review: I liked the simplicity of the directions in this book. This book really shows how easy it is to save money making your own baby food, and without a lot of work! Parents can go as far as putting their baby on a vegetarian diet by making their cereal from whole grains, or they can make it as simple as just making fruits and vegetables, which would save a lot of money alone and not have to deal with those baby food jars and food full of water, salt, sugar and preservatives. You can go as far as you want with this book or make it as easy as possible to save money. I have explored most baby food books before purchasing one and this book is by far the easiest and contains the most information and walks you through step-by-step. I definitely recommend it.

Summary: My super baby is now a toddler!
Review: I used this book to make my own baby food starting when my son turned 6 months. The suggestions for how to prepare and store the different foods was invaluable. I then looked each new food up in my New Whole Foods Encyclopedia. It was a wonderful opportunity to really increase my knowledge of nutrition and implement it not only for my baby, but for my husband and I as well. Being a vegetarian, the protein complementarity charts were very useful. I made use of the homemade diaper wipe solution a lot! My son is now over two! I still use the book for recipes for snacks occasionally and for the party and craft ideas. Liam loved his super porridge... I don't know why I ever stopped feeding it to him. Now I have a very picky toddler eater and WISH he would get a full day's supply of nutrients at breakfast, his best-eaten meal of the day! I'll get use out of this reference for years to come!

Summary: My Bible
Review: This is THE BEST BOOK I purchased after having my son. He is almost one year old and I reference this book at least once a day. I am a vegetarian and was concerned about him getting enough calcium, iron and protein. So far he is a veggie too and he is one of the best fed babies that I know of. My husband who is not a vegetarian said this was one of the best books he has ever seen. So much valuable information it is actually making me eat better.

Knock on wood, my son has not been sick yet!! No colds, coughs, runny noses etc...

Good luck and happy eating!

Summary: Good basic guidelines, but too many extras
Review: Frankly, I've been very frustrated with this book. The author uses a lot of cross-referencing, and what little organization there is tends to be very user-unfriendly. Plus the recipe section is cramped and difficult to follow. I found the information I was looking for -- a food introduction timeline for my 6-month old, as well as an alphabetical index of how to purchase, prepare and freeze a number of fruits and vegetables -- but I definitely don't care for the tips on frugal and eco-friendly gift giving and household cleaning. I'm pro- frugality and pro-environment, but what's that got to do with baby food? I'm also concerned about all the supplements the author endorses for babies. Although her suggested servings seem reasonable, the author is not a nutritionist (nor does she claim to be), and some supplements can be toxic in incorrect doses.
