Summary: Super Baby Food review
Review: This book was exactly what I was looking for when I decided that I would make my daughters food from scratch. Ruth Yaron does a superb job at organizing ages to introduce different foods with recipes that cover 4 months into toddlerhood. This book covers so many things, it's impossible to cover them here, but as a new mom and a full time RN in a pediatric ICU, I found it an extremely helpful reference in getting my daughter started on a lifetime of healthy eating habits. While her methods are about as strict as you can get, I recommend following her guidelines tapered to fit your own lifestyle. It has been wonderful so far, and my baby's only five months!!

Summary: For Healthy Families Only
Review: This is an excellent reference guide for families who want to give their babies the healthiest possible food. I do agree that the organization of the book can be somewhat confusing, but that doesn't detract from the content of the book, which has been invaluable to me as a first time mom who is very serious about the food I give my daughter. I suffered through very painful nursing for the first 4 weeks because I knew it was best for her, and when it comes to solids I'm just as determined to get her off on the right start. The author is very well informed about real nutrition, something most moms I know don't give a real thought to. They figure whatever was good enough for them is good enough for their babies. But the very real dangers of increasing percentages of child obesity and diabetes and adult cancers and heart disease make me want to give my child better food than what my parents knew to give me or had available to give me. Pesticides, hormones in meat and other foods, preservatives, artificial flavors, other food chemicals, and excess sugar and salt are very real dangers to our children's present and future health. This book helps you steer clear of those things and give your child the healthiest possible food, which is just what my daughter needs.

Summary: Best Book for New Moms!!
Review: What a wonderful book. I have learned SOOOO much. This book outlines each veggie and fruit and tells you how old your child has to be to eat it, how to pick it, when it is in season, how to prepare and store it and nutritional information. I am a nurse so I have really valued all the research based information and all of it makes so much sense to me.

The book is so complete - I have used it for ideas and reference more times than I can count. It covers not only baby food, but adult food too and household remedies and craft ideas. There is something in here for everyone - it is a must have for the library of any new mom.

Bottom line - I am a better mother because of this book and my daughter will be healthier and better fed because of it!!!!!!!

Summary: Super Baby Food....a Super book!
Review: I love this book! I have the new edition of the book...I love how it throughly explains how to make each food, portion size, how to make batches ahead of time and freeze and how easy it is to read. It even has parts about things you can add to make the homemade food even healthier...like flaxseed. The recipe's in the book are simple and easy to make too. I made my son's 1yr birthday cake and he loved it. Best of all , I feel good knowing exactly what my son is eating...my husband and I are eating better too. The book also has sample menu's and in addition to discussing foods, it tells you how to prepare them, the nutrients in them, how to store them ,etc. I also enjoyed reading the chapters on "fun stuff", like how to make your own playdough,etc...The chapter on nutritional information is very through and well written...like how to make a complete protien,etc...Overall I loved the book and it stays in my kitchen ready to use at any moment. Also, I wrote to Ruth Yaron with a question, and she emailed me back! That is so great!! Thanks for a great book!!

Summary: The most comprehensive resource for feeding your child
Review: This book should be called "The Ultimate Parent's Resource Manual for: healthy eating, safe cleaning, fun playing..." The list could go on and on. Yes, it can be confusing. But just read what you need -- use the complete table of contents & index. The information contained inside the book is so well-researched and comprehensive that it is the one and ONLY book I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend to all the moms I know. Just a couple of days ago I started growing sprouts for the first time using the information in the book.... Yesterday I made applesauce crackers, granola bars, and vegetarian burgers (like Boca Burgers) from the recipes and my family loved them all.

One thing I use all the time is her idea for "Super Flour." Instead of using just whole wheat flour, she adds some easy nutritional boosters to it before cooking. No one can taste the difference, but the nutritional boost is awesome. Did you know that one teaspoon of sea kelp in a glass of water provides a THOUSAND times more calcium than a glass of milk? (I got that information from a different book, but I use kelp as a nutritional booster because of Yaron's great & easy suggestions).

In addition to feeding your child healthy foods, Yaron has great ideas on how to make homemade baby products, safe & effective home cleaning products, a crash-course in nutrition, birthday party ideas ... it's amazing.

If you are a parent-to-be, a parent of an infant, or a parent of a toddler, you MUST have this book. It is invaluable.

Summary: A great guide
Review: I loved this book! I am not a vegetarian nor are my children but the information that was provided about each specific food and at what month it is best for your babies digestive system was most helpful. I wouldnt go without it. There may be alot of information that you will not use but the good information outways the bad for sure.

Summary: Missleading
Review: It should say it is for vegetarians, clearly on the cover! It is not very useful until your baby reaches 6 months and on top of that it doesn't cover how to include meat and fish in your baby's diet. Had I known this I would not have purchased it. The only good information I got from it was the ice cube tray method for freezing baby food. Also, it is very confusing and lacks logical organization of the chapters.

Summary: Unorganized!
Review: This book has a lot of useful information regarding baby food, but it also has TONS of USELESS information. For example: how to load your dishwasher, save energy, wash your hands, use a blender, etc. It is very repetetive and unorganized. And unless you are a vegetarian, and plan to raise your kids that way, forget it! It is pretty much a vegetarian baby food book. If you have the time to read the whole book, you'll be able to pick out the important parts. It should have been half as long. I couldn't imagine knowing this woman - she is a freak!

Summary: Unorganized
Review: I am not too fond of this book. It is very confusing (and I am a very well-educated person). You end up doing a lot of flipping around. It seems that every paragraph refers you to another page for complete information. Also, it is very overwhelming for those who are just starting to prepare their baby's food. The complete recommended diet is very complicated, with each meal including more ingredients than most people use in meals prepared for adults. Also, my pediatrician recommended that I not offer several foods that are recommended in this book until a much older age. I would prefer that the book have references to support the use of some of the supplements, as well. Overall, this book discouraged me from preparing my baby's food, as I found it overwhelming, confusing and complicated. Now I only use it occasionally to look up how to prepare specific foods.

Summary: Super O
Review: This book is horribly organized and is always focusing on the Vegetarian aspects. When I ordered the book I was looking for something easy to follow and quick. New parents making baby food do not have time to flip through pages of useless information about this and that. This book needs to scale its information down and place all recipes where they are age appropriate, easier to read and to get to! In my opinion I would never, ever recommend this book to anyone.
