Rating: Summary: I Own 5 Other LC Cookbooks - This One WINS!!! Review: After a year of losing 40 pounds eating according to their earlier book, Protein Power, I began searching for ways to expand my menus. I have bought several other cookbooks looking for adequate alternatives to baked goods, but was never happy with the results: Often too delicate, or too bitter, or they'd fall...Now along comes Drs. Eades and Ursula Solom with recipes that are exactly what they advertise: Comfort Foods. Tonight, we enjoyed delicious Chili Con Carne with Black Soy Beans and slices of Best Whole Wheat Bread and butter. All low-carb, satisfying and delicious. For breakfast, we added a slice of Super Banana Bread mini-loaf to our plate of ham and eggs. Hard to believe it was low-carb, it tasted (and rose) just like the real McCoy. Most of the recipes freeze, so I can make a variety of baked goods on the weekend, freeze and have them handy for days to come. I can hardly wait to try the Cinnamon Rolls, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Elegant Biscuits and so much more. If you enjoy a low-carb lifestyle, this book belongs in your arsenal.
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected Review: Authors are trying to peddle their own diet plan (high protien) and unless you're interested in that, don't bother buying this book. There are too many weird ingredients needed for many of the recipes. Not a good cookbok for the average user. I've had it for about a month and haven't used one recipe.
Rating: Summary: You don't need this Review: Carbs are good for you. Proteins are good for you. Fats are good for you. Eating all of them in moderation is good for you. Moderation and some exercise -- and greatly reducing your intake of highly processed junk food -- is all you need to maintain a healthy weight. Books like these-- gimmicky schemes that promote an unbalanced diet -- don't work because it's advocating an unnatural diet. Sooner or later you're going to fail on this diet because you simply can't stick to something that's so against your nature. Eat moderately. Exercise moderately. It's not a matter of "will power," it's a matter of adopting new habits -- without resorting to having to obsessively count grams of fat or carbs or whatever, which (the obsesssive counting) only feels successful because it gives you a false sense of control over your body.
Rating: Summary: WOW!! Bread Finally Review: Eating bread, 2.2 g of carbs, pasta at 6.2 g of carbs, cookies at 1.4 g of carbs. WOW!! Salsas, Pizza, I can't believe it is real. (And tasty!!). With over 30 million american's on low-carb eating lifestyles this is the answer to their daily counts. Not only do they have simple receipes they tell you how many carbs for each item. No more guess work. I started doing the Drs. Protein Power Lifeplan about 3 weeks ago and have already lost 16 pounds. (Without trying to hard.) Now that I know that the results are there, and have added confidence I can do this. I am going for it. My next step, beyond cooking will be to dive into their other book, Slow Burn Fitness revolution. Now who can't do 30 minutes a day. From someone who has always struggled with weight, this is an awesome answer. No pills, No "special foods," no eating what I hate. YEAH!!
Rating: Summary: I'm loving this book! Review: Got the book from the library and now I must buy a copy. (Everything looks made for my taste and pantry!) I just made the Magic Rolls...Oh oh oh... I can't keep out of them. Are they supposed to be hollow? Well, mine are but I don't care...they are divine. (Alternatives are given if one wants to make them out of whole wheat, or into raisin rolls, low carb danish pastry, herbed croutons, bread crumbs.) I thought I'd failed when they were in the mixing bowl..it was just a bit too easy. So I figured I'd be tossing them out...and I'd then for sure just return the book to the library and forget about it. But no!! These are kinda magic. I would make these no matter what kind of diet (or not) that I was on. They are GOOD! I can't wait to try more recipes from the book now. :)

Rating: Summary: Delicious!!! Review: Great recipes, easy to follow -- the best cook book for eating like a human being should eat thus far!
Rating: Summary: Looooooved this book!! Review: I bought 3 books in one day....this book was one of them. I use this book more then I use any other cookbook that I have for low carb cooking. The Magic rolls are wonderful. The Pasta is worth the extra effort. I have to honestly say that I have not tried one recipe that I did not like! I wish they would come out with a book for candy & sweets. I don't eat them often, but with Christmas coming I would love some good candy recipes to get me through the holidays without cheating!
Rating: Summary: Found it fairly useless Review: I bought this book based on generally favorable Amazon reviews and was extremely disappointed. In general, thought many recipes had too many ingredients that were not commonly stocked in my pantry. The remaining recipes were nothing special - lets face it, figuring out how to make entrees that are low carb is not rocket science and this book's recipes were nothing remarkable.
