Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Parenting really isn't for cowards! Review: As a mother of eleven children I can only hope that many new mothers who are challenged with strong willed children can read this book with all its advice and wisdom which came at a time when I most needed it! For years I have referred to Dr. Dobson's books but by far, this book brought me more than I ever expected a book to do. Forgiveness came almost immediately and guilt and self-doubt were replaced with confidence, then I could re focus on my very strong willed 17 year old. Each day will bring something new but I am re-fueled and stronger from Dr. Dobson's words and advice. This is a must in every home with strong willed children,to be read and referred to over and over again. It truely will help and parenting does become a joy once again.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent advice! Review: Dr. Dobson has penned yet another fantastic volume of parental wisdom. It is so important that we take our role as parents seriously with our eyes fixed to the future of the child, in line with basic Biblical principles. This book is wonderful, a must read for all serious parents out there!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: You Need this Book! Review: This book is Awesome. The title says it all. And of course, Dr. James Dobson knows what he is talking about once again! Get all of Dobson's books, if you are a parent!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: It is an excellent book for new parents. Review: This book is very interesting to read. It also gives very specific steps on how to discipline children from young age to entering adolescence. However, I do think each parent needs to evaluate the discipline methods and find one that is suitable for both the parents and the child. It is excellent in terms of setting up the basic principles in teaching children.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Perfect Parenting Book Review: This book masks a Christian stance and advocates violence and oppression against children. In one passage, Dobson recommends "a few sharp slaps to the leg" of a cranky toddler on a plane! AS if THAT will solve anything. JAmes C. Dobson obviously knows nothing about developmentally appropriate behavior in children. He seems to think that asserting yur authority and submissing children into fear is the way to raise happy children. I THINK NOT! Kids certainly need (and want) limits, but they need limits to be set in a way that they understand. Furthermore, children must be respected if they are going to develop self-esteem, which is the REAL basis for self-conrol and discipline from within. Dr. Dobson, What Would Jesus Do?

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Perfect Parenting Book Review: This book was one of 13 that I read in desperation, and it was the only one that helped me with my very hard to handle son. Mr. Dobson helped me realize that parenting is NOT a breeze, it is not joyful or as wonderful as everybody else says, it is the most difficult challenge of my entire life. I received the sympathy I needed and I realize that parenting today is too permissive, thus we are raising brats. His guidelines make alot of sense, and the generations before us didn't have the problems that kids have today. Why? Because there was discipline back then. Today, parents are afraid to set limits and discipline their kids. I feel so much better after reading this book, I know I am not alone.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A must-read for parents of stubborn or strong-willed child! Review: We've all witnessed the frustrated, harrassed mother battling with her stong-willed child. We've all seen, at one time or another, this same mother (or others like her) losing that battle of wills. We may be that mother, embarrassed by a temper tantrum in public, giving in just to avoid further scrutiny by stangers witnessing our attempts to control a child who absolutely WILL have his/her own way! I am the mother of one of these beautiful, sweet, creative, funny, delightful, stubborn, maddening, bratty, hard-as-nails children. Even if you are not an active, practicing Christian, even if you don't listen to "Focus on the Family", you will gain priceless information and helpful tips about your hard-to-control child. Dr. Dobson mixes clinical research with heart-warming stories, helpful hints, and for those that are interested, solid Biblical principles in an easy-to-read text that should claim a place in the library of every family. He also gives excellent advice for integration of this strong-willed child with the compliant children in the family. I have one of each, and Dr. Dobson revealed to me ways to control one without smothering or ignoring the other. My children didn't come with instruction manuals; Dr. Dobson is a gem to share the how-to's for "operating this delicate piece of machinery": parenthood
