Summary: where's the spark?
Review: I'm sorry to say but this book was agreat dissapointment for me. I've read two other books by Hayden, but I really missed the spark in this book. Maybe because it's her 1st one, but still, I love her.

Summary: a book highly recomened for those who love maricals
Review: If you are the type of person who loves mariclas and neverending love then you'll love Torey Hayden's "Murphy's Boy". This book is enjoyable from the engaging begining to the emotional ending. Full of humorous, happy, and sad suprises this book always gives one a warm cozy feeling in side. Torey Hayden is a splenid writter and, in this book, writes about her personal experiencs with a boy labled to be hopless. Each page is full of love and neverending friendship;even a marical here and there. I highly recomend this book and hope others will enjoy just like I have

Summary: What an amazing person!
Review: In third grade, as you can imagine, I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up. I thought maybe being a teacher would be nice, although I knew little of the consequences that job included. Being a smart child I read A LOT. And not just small books, I read some that were at a 8th grade reading level. One of the books I read was titled "One Child" by Torey Hayden. That book changed my life more than any other book has. It made me realize (still only in 3rd grade) that being a child psychologist was exactly what I wanted to do when I got older. Since then I have read each and every one of Torey's books a hundred times over, (my two favorites being "Murphy's Boy and "One Child"). I someday wish to meet this wonderful author/teacher/psychologist/woman, and I pray that when I become what I am very determined to become, I am half as great as she. Thank you, Torey L. Hayden, for changing mine, and so many others lives. ..............

Summary: THE WORLD NEEDS MORE LIKE TOREY HAYDEN!
Review: Kevin was extremely fortunate to have someone as dogged, dedicated and determined as Torey Hayden enter his life. The holocaust of his past would hurt even the most stalwart person and it is truly refreshing to know that there are folks out there who will make that extra effort to improve somebody's life. Ms. Hayden's "Little Sister" Charity's inclusion in the story added a much needed and enriching element. I think they ended up balancing one another well. It is with great pride that I can honestly say I have read each one of Ms. Hayden's books (except for her novel, "The Mechanical Cat." if anybody can tell me where to find it, I'd really appreciate that). more than once and am able to quote whole passages by memory. I am eagerly anticipating her next book. I dearly hope to one day meet this remarkable human being. Torey Hayden has changed the world and the lives of countless people for the better.

Summary: It was wonderfull
Review: Murphy's Boy is another amazing book by Tory Hayden. Some parts of it made me so angry that a child could be treated the way Keven was, but Tory's unconditinal live and hope is wonderfull and refreshing I have read all or Tory"s books my favorate being One Child. They have inspired me to volentear at a camp for disabled kids during my summer break. Tory is an amazing person and a riviting wrighter. Anyone would love her books.

Summary: The most moving book I have ever read in my life.
Review: Murphy's Boy is the most moving book I have ever read in my life. I could not put this book down. It was extremely well-written and very easy to read. As this is a true story it made me think that we have not truly suffered like this child. The world needs more Torey Haydens.

Summary: This one actually made me cry!
Review: Murphy's Boy was one of the most... intense true-life accounts of child abuse I have ever read. I felt saddened by this child's plight, to the point of tears, and slept like a log afterward (the book really drains you!) But I was also glad I read it: only through understanding and a genuine willingness to help kids in need, will anything ever change for the better. Like all of Torey's book, this one was detailed, emotionally moving, engaging and...despite the subject matter... fun. I highly recommend it!

Summary: Great Book
Review: Murphy's Boy was the first Torey Hayden book that I read. I finished it in less than three days. Murphy's Boy is excellent, good as gold. I read Murphy's Boy from the perspective of a clinician, a person just starting out with their career, and a reader of non-fiction. The book was extremely interesting to me as a "young" social worker. I could feel Torey's successes and failures. The highs and lows. Her relationhip with Kevin was intensely real. I plan on rereading Murphy's Boy numerous times. Each time I find something new that I didn't get the first time. Muphy's Boy is a great book to read.

Summary: A great made for TV movie too!
Review: The movie version was just as good! It was called "Trapped in Silence". Marsha Mason and a very young Keifer Sutherland, starred in this made for TV adaptation. Featured Ron Silver also.

Summary: Amazing
Review: There were so many points in this book when I could relate to Kevin and it helped me to see his improvement. I'm not in much of a writing mood but this is a great book and thank you Torey for saving another kid.
