Rating: Summary: Enlightening-Encouraging-Spiritual! Review: I found this book to be enlightening. Mr. West paints a vivid picture of episodes in his life. His words were an eye-opener for me. Some of the things that I just take for granted, ment so much to him. Simply playing with his son, or driving his car was a struggle to do flawlessly. I found this book encouraging because of the courage it must have taken him to go to school and earn his Ph.D. in the midst of all of his trials. I am thinking returning to school myself, and this story gives me strength. The spirituality that this book presented was not evident to me right away. At first I wondered how could this family go through all these trials and never once did Mr. West mention praying to God, or looking to God for guidance. Then it came to me that it was Rikki's extrodinary love for her husband and her son that kept them together; that kept them afloat. That is what sustained them. And God IS love! That is why I give Cameron West a resounding thumbs up!
Rating: Summary: Touching Bravery Review: I read this book after seeing the author on Oprah. I was awed by his courage and I had to learn more. First Person Plural at first sickened and saddened me when I read the accounts of the author's childhood and the struggles of his personalities. The drawings and scribblings many of the personalites drew were amazing. After reading this book however I walked away with a better since of understanding of the illness and thank Cameron West for taking the time and energy to share with the world his life.
Rating: Summary: Interesting Review: I liked this book, and his story of struggle is a good one to tell, but personally I wish the book had talked more about the problems of DID, his multiples, and go deeper into the cause of his DID, instead of his valiant struggle against not believing he had a problem.

Rating: Summary: It Is Real Review: After reading many texts on Dissociative Identity Disorder aka Multiple Personality Disorder (a disorder with a personality crisis all it's own)I finally got to Cameron West's writing. After personal experience with multiplicity and intensive therapeutic alliances regarding the diagnosis of DID I can genuinely say that Dr. West's description of his work with the initial therapist and his first full-blown abreaction are true to actual abreactive states and experiences. As this book is "triggering" I have not completed it yet, however I read all 135 reader reviews before embarking on the read. Some individuals do not believe that Dr. West is "for real", and others believe he is just "cashing in" on a new psychiatric fad. I doubt that he had the need to cash in, and I know the signs of true multiplicity. Cameron West is a classic case, so far. I'm not sure I want to drag myselves through the emotional caverns of his complete text; but I will. This book does draw you in; but if you are an undiagnosed, untreated dissociative it could swallow you whole. So be careful.
Rating: Summary: Very illuminating Review: I read this book all in one sitting; couldn't put it down. In the past, multiple personalities were something that I would make fun of. Those days are gone; after reading about Cam's pain and struggle to cope with the personalities, I'll be more sensitive. Very well written.
Rating: Summary: Gotta get the book Review: The reason I wanted to get the book is because I saw Opera with Cameron and heard his story in psychology class. His story was very interesting and touching. I am 16 years old and go to Belton High School. I also saw Sybill in class and am very interested in the class now.

Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!! Review: This book was incredible!!! Once I started reading it, I could not put it down. My aunt has DID, and she said that of all of the books written about her disorder that this one gave one of the greatest discriptions of what she has been through. By reading this book, I now understand more fully what she has been going through for the last couple of years, and I no longer feel angry about what she has done. Anyone who has a loved one who is suffering from DID should definately read this book. Cameron West did an awesome job!
Rating: Summary: Best book I've read in years! Review: I read this book as an assignment for my reading class in college. Granted, it wasn't my first choice, but I am glad to have read it. This is the first book I have read that really touched me. I found it profound the way West's wife, Rikki, pulled together, and stuck by her husband through the toughest of times. That's what love is all about. I really admire her courage. I would suggest that anyone who takes their life for granted, to read this book to find out what some of life's troubles are all about. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone. I look forward to reading more material by Dr. West in the future!
