Rating: Summary: Cblake Review: If you have ever asked yourself, "is life really worth living?" and you have struggled trying to answer your own question, you need to read this book. Here is a young man, once a small boy with no family, that was determined to make it in this world and he finally did. He believed in himself even when others wouldn't. Living in Cleveland, Ohio, driving down the same streets and places that was mentioned in his book of where the story of his life begins to unfold, those places are not just meaningless places to me anymore. They have a history, and I don't look at those places the same way again. Being a single mother and raising 2 small children on my own, I now know I can make it in this world as long as I believe in myself. Whenever I doubt myself, I think of Mr. Antwone Fisher. This book also be used as a lesson of how we treat people, especially our kids. If we give our kids a lot of unconditional love and attention, they will grow up to be someone successful. Of course, being a parent, you would want to be among the first person they (your kids) thank for their success. I sure would.

Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down Review: If you've seen the movie, you haven't seen the whole story. Although the movie was good, the book is better (not a shocker, I'm sure). Antwone Fisher is such a talented author, and after reading this book you will appreciate him even more. After battling everyone in his life, "Fish" manages to make something with himself. This is a very easy read, and it will be worth your time.

Rating: Summary: Depressing and Uplifting Simultaneously Review: It's nice to know that something positive will happen at the end of this book before you start reading, otherwise it can be a little daunting. But hang in there, it's worth the wait. The first 3/4 of the book deals with Fish ages birth to 18. The last quarter begins his climb out of the depths of a rootless existence. Children from loving families will be given a new perspective on what it's like to truly have no one to turn to in the world. You don't have to have been a foster child to appreciate the reserves of strength that it took for this young man to beat the cycle of poverty and abuse that defeat most.
Rating: Summary: Definitely "required reading", for everyone aged 12+ Review: Let this review count as an endorsement/"vote" to include "Finding Fish" as required reading for all students & adults aged 12 and above. Unfortunately, I didn't get to catch the movie; but I will definitely purchase the DVD as soon as it's available. Anyone who reads this book cannot help but be touched by this extraordinary man's lifestory. I find myself examining my own childhood in comparison and can truly understand that, while we were not "rich", we were wealthy in love and support for each other. I tell my family that I love them and I hug and kiss them so much more often than I used to; because I don't ever want them to feel lost and alone or to ever wonder if they are loved by me. As an only child, I was lonely at times, but never to the level of dispair as Mr. Fisher. What a generous soul, to have given the world such a gift by sharing his story with us! I'm very glad that Mr. Fisher has found love, respect, admiration, family, and success; because he truly worked hard for all of these things and deserves them.

Rating: Summary: The Reviewer Review: Reana Hunter, A reviewer I read the review for Finding Fish and for Nightmares Echo and bought both books. I am in awe and shock at what some of the children in this world go through.I believe these are two of the best books written on the subject without showing sensationalism. just getting to the heart of the matter. I will find the movie for Finding fish and watch it. This is excellent writing.
Rating: Summary: From a Fosterling to Success in Hollywood Review: This autobiography by Antwone Fisher is the true story that inspired the motion picture "Antwone Fisher," directed by Denzel Washington. It is the chronicle of one small boy metamorphosing into the productivity and significant accomplishments of his manhood. "Finding Fish" is the in-depth recall of an adult, with appropriate caveats, that has the draconian ins and outs of a good novel of any genre. A recall and 'telling' that propels the reader through the experienced agony and mistreatment initiated by a single mother unable to keep her child. Yielded into the welfare system by his mother, Antwone suffered twelve years of psychological abandonment and physical abuse by welfare assigned foster parents We are privileged to experience the angst bloom of teenage and puberty, then the transition to productive adulthood. This book is reading of the best kind. It snags and drags the reader from child to the finished product of a wonderful, productive and useful man and father.
