Summary: a heart wrenching story...if only he were a better writer.
Review: This is a story that needed to be told. My heart just cried for the poor child who experienced all the pain of his childhood. But, I can't help wishing the story had been written by a stronger author. Pelzer has an important message to communicate, and I hope that writing his book was cathartic for him, cleansing some of his pain, by putting it down in print. Still, the writing was weak. I wanted to cry more...

Summary: A very brave little boy growing into an even braver Man
Review: I read this book in a matter of 6 hours...once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. The degree of abuse this poor boy suffered is far greater than any one of us could ever imagine. My heart goes out to those who share similar experiences with dave, and to dave himself, for finding the courage and the bravery to tell the world his story and open our eyes. God Bless you

Summary: Opened My Eyes
Review: I am a volunteer with Social Services in Edmonton, Alberta; I work as a tutor with children from disadvantaged backgrounds. I was struck by two things regarding the book "The Lost Boy" by Dave Pelzer. First, it made me realize what really goes on in the heads of kids who suffer, or who have suffered abuse and neglect. This book showed in an incredibly clear way why these kids act the way they do, why they are often so difficult to reach and so difficult to manage, and most importantly, why so many abused children and adults continue to blame themselves for their ill treatment, and so often recant their testimony in court and return to their abuser. What I admire most about the author is that in spite of every thing, he maintained his belief in God. Reading this book made my own faith stronger. Dave, thank God you made the right choice.

Summary: You just wanted to hug him and keep him safe.
Review: An excellent sequel to A Child Called It. Throughout the whole book, you just wanted to take care of him - tell him it was going to be okay. Dave's courage is immesurable; I'm eagerly looking forward to the finale of the trilogy.

Summary: can't wait for the third book.
Review: if he didn't know there was a god in his life. i somehow think the story would have been far more tragic. he was one incredibly brave boy and one fine young man. i was so uninformed of the foster system and you've opened my eyes. i did actually think it was one big money grab. but i see more clearly now. i attend church with a man who works in a childrens home. many of them i believe come from similiar situations. i am grateful you've opened my eyes. should you read your reviews i would greatly appreciate a note of how to get to you personally to just meet you. you are a very special man and it would be an honor to meet you.

Summary: Outstanding and Courageous
Review: I cried for him in his first book A Child Called It and was inspired by him in The Lost Boy. This is wonderfully written book by a truly good person. I can hardly wait for him to finish his next book A Man Called Dave.

Summary: I found this book to be very good and sad.
Review: I first read this book when I was 13. It took me two day but I just loved it. I also read the first one in two days. I hognestly enjoyed this one more. Now I pick it up to read when ever I am bored.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A heart-wrenching but, paradoxically, inspiring book.
Review: This book, #2 in a trilogy, is as commanding as the first book. I was, literally, unable to put it down. Mr. Pelzer has a way with words that draws the reader in and makes one want to read quickly to determine the end but yet hate to see the pages read increasing in number.

As with his first book, "A Child Called It", I wondered what special part of this youngster pushed him on, gave him hope and, from the time he was still living with his parents, kept him alive!! Strength of spirit? Strength of mind?

The books are a tribute to the child, the man and the good people who helped him along the way.

Summary: A novel that everyone needs to read.
Review: "The lost boy" is a hard hitting novel that will "wake up the masses" to the problems of foster care and the bigottry that foster children are exposed to. This novel follows David, a 12 year old boy who after being liberated from a sadistic mother must learn that allthough his problems with child abuse are now over, his new problems as a foster child have just begun. You will follow David from age 12-18 as he tries to pick up the pieces from his shatted childhood and move on as he goes from foster house to foster house searching for love. A uplifting novel that has a very important message about the foster care system, and the usually unwanted foster children who must endure the scrutiany of those who oppose the foster care system and think that the foster children themselves should be neither seen nor heard. A must read.

Summary: A sad story about an amazing boy.
Review: I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Pelzer at an inservice callled through the eyes of a child. The purpose of the inservice was for him, to help us, help abused children in the best way possible. He definetly achieved this and if you ever have the chance to see him please do so. Both of the first two books of the trilogy are wonderful. The first is called, A Child Called It, the other The Lost Boy. These are both short easy to read books and you will not be able to put them down until you finish. These books are written through the the eyes of a child
