Summary: PARALYZING AND SIMPLY SAD,YET TRIUMPH IN THE END. AMAZING.
Review: TO ACTUALLY THINK THERE IS SUCH MISERY THAT CHILDREN ENDURE IN THE DARK JUST BREAKS MY HEART. TO SEE THAT DAVID MADE IT THROUGH THAT LIVING HELL BRINGS COMFORT AND REAFFIRMS MY BELIEF THAT CHILDREN ARE TOUGHER THAN ADULTS.

Summary: True Human Spirit can conquer anything
Review: A Child Called IT was recommended to me while I was attending Foster parenting classes. How horrified I was within the first few minutes. Part of me wanted to throw the book away and the other part of me couldn't put it down. I managed to read it in about 4 hours and immediatley went out and bought Lost Boy. I needed to know how he survived in a "normal" environment. David truly represents what the human spirit can live through and overcome. I am glad that I read his books as they gave me a better appreciation for life and understanding for my foster son who was abused also. I now cannot wait for the 3rd in the series to come out I keep checking every week! As so many people have stated already: God Bless You David you are truly an inspiration!

Summary: Someone willing to survive, emotional testamony
Review: I had seen Dave on the Ophrah show and was inspired to read his story, not knowing that there were 2 books so I read the second one first and then the start of his story. I was an abused child emotional and physical also not to the extent of his abuse, so I was sitting in the same seat as him. I cried for him inside, i was angry at the system and I hate his mother for him. His father deserved to die because he could have saved him from all of that, but he chose to let her run his life also. How could anyone that is suppose to be a "mother" treat anyone that was, he was not abused he was tortured there is a big difference. There are a few more resources now to detect this kind of thing, I really commend this man for what he has become from all that he went through. When is the 3rd book coming out, I would really like to know what happened to his so-called mother and his brothers, I really feel sorry for them as they have no control from her evil ways she must have a personality disorder. I told alot of people to read this book, some will and some will not because they do not want to know the extent of the pain he went through. I am a very slow reader and I read these in only a few days, talk about not being able to put a book down. May God bless you David thumbs up to you because you are the one who beat the system, and survived, you're in my prayers From one survivor to another.

Summary: Most touching book ever!
Review: I had the opportunity to read Foster Child and A Child Called It. Both are so touching and the way Dave describes the things that he went through is just amazing. You can get a very vivid image of evrything he's narrating. I cried reading both books and I was also able to look at things and people differently. You become a little more humane and more aware of things happening in our society.

Summary: What a great, heart wrenching book!
Review: This is one of the BEST books I have read in a very long time! I have already read it 3 times, and I still can't put it down!

Summary: A gripping story of a child who beat the odds.
Review: I read the first book after David Pelzer came to my High School during my Junior year. I couldn't believe that someone could actually survive such hellish conditions. His story is very sad, but it is one that needs to be told, so that people become aware that this kind of thing goes on. After listening to his story, I decided to become a youth counselor, to help kids who have to go through something like that. His survival is inspirational.

Summary: Amazing
Review: Having read both books last year I am still moved to tears just reading the reviews left here. David has a way with words that allows the reader to see the picture as if she were actually there. In no other written text have I been as moved. From a little boy who thought he would never survive to see the future comes a man that can change a nation. Thank you, Dave. One side note; Child abuse happens on a daily basis. Every year over three million children are abused or neglected. Make an effort to make a difference. Be a foster parent. Be a friend. Watch for sign and take a stand. Help children that have no way of helping themselves.
