Rating: Summary: Heartbroken Review: Well, I'm a G12 student from Hong Kong, I just picked up the book at my school library for my book report. As I read, my eyes were filled with tears and my heart was broken to pieces. I had to stop after reading for 10 pages. As my emotion didn't allow me to go any further. I took a break and began to read again, I sobbed. I sympathize your sad childhood, at the same time, I'm really furious with the what-so-called mother. I finally realize how lucky I am to be born in this family of mine. Thank God. I guess everyone in the world will sympathize Dave's childhood, no matter you are in Japan, China, UK, USA and so on. This is one of the books that has made me cry so bitterly.
Rating: Summary: A painful, heart breaking story of an innocent boy. Review: David Pelzer made his painful childhood come alive again in this book. His story tells about himself, a brave, severely abused child, who endure more than any individual should ever have to endure. It broke your heart to read about the abuse he tolerated but at the same time, it was impossible to put the book down. David Pelzer is truly a hero!
Rating: Summary: This book is very inspirational Review: I think that everyone should read these two books. They are a wonderful example of what goes on in everyday society. We do not realize it, but these kinds of things happen to children everyday and my heart goes out to all of them. Just put your faith in God and all things are possible. I would like to thank Dave for sharing his life with us.
Rating: Summary: This is for the Teens out there who think they have it bad. Review: Well, the two books were sad, unpredicatable, very miserable, and the most sad thing about the two books is that it was based on a TRUE story. When i read these two books for the first time it made me relisize that when i tell my friends that i have it bad at home because my parents wouldnt let me go to a party or go on a date with someone and i said i had it bad i compared my life to David's life. My point is that when you think you have it bad at home because you cant go on a date or something you really dont have it bad. Your parents are just watching out for your safety. So dont through a fit cause David went weeks at a time without eating and other horable things happened to him to.
Rating: Summary: LOVED IT Review: THIS BOOK REALLY TOUCHED ME BE CAUSE I AM A CHILD IN FOSTER CARE AND I ALSO CAME FROM AN ABUSIVE FAMILY NOT NEARLY AS BAD AS DAVE BUT WITH HIM SHAREING HIS EXPIRENCES THUGH THIS BOOK HE IN A BIG WAY HAS HELPED ME TO COPE WITH THE PAST AND MOVE ON. I WOULD LOVE TO TALK TO DAVE. I SUGGEST THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT WILL SHOW YOU THAT KIDS CAN MAKE IT AND IT WILL HELP YOU UNDER STAND SOME KIDS THAT YOU CLAIM ARE DIFFRENT
Rating: Summary: very sad and disturbing Review: When I read the book "A Child Called It" I cried and asked myself what kind of monster would dare to do this! I felt very disturbed since I am only 12.Since I have read the 2nd one I am intrigued to read the third one. I wrote to Dave and told him how much I felt for him. I think everyone should read this book to find out what some people have to survive.
Rating: Summary: Very, Very Wonderful, Very Inspiring Review: I have loved both books, that Dave has written, and I can't waite for the third book to came out. He is an very inspiring. I would Love to meet him, I work with a center here in Odessa, Texas where I live called Harmony Home CAC, it's an abused childrens center, I'm a volunteer there and love every moment of it. I am a victim of abuse and rape by my stepbrother and stepmother, and now I am divoting my time to help these abused children and I owe it all to Dave and his book's for helping me learn that I can overcome my problems and help others to over come theirs. Thank you so much. Lisa Roberts
Rating: Summary: I felt as if I knew Dave Review: when I read this book. As a Childcare worker I understand that not every child is as stable as the public views him or her, but Dave Pelzer overcame great obstacles. This book is a great continuation to "A Child Called It" and I think anyone who has read the first should definately read this book. Dave's spirit and undieing will to overcome hardships got him through the first 12 years of his life and in "The Lost Boy" he has survived to age 18. I can't wait to read "A Man Named Dave." Thanks Dave for sharing your life with the millions of people who read of your story. You have overcome so much and I am blessed to have had a chance to read your books.
Rating: Summary: very educational Review: i noticed the book in a doctor office and went out a got one i had no idea what it was about i ha ve learned more on the subject of child abuse than i ever thought possible from these 2 wonderful books a big thanks to dave pelzer for shareing his story
Rating: Summary: This book was gut wrenching, horrific and heartbreaking. Review: A Child Called "It" is a dose of reality, that most of us chose to deny ever exists. My heart went out to David throughout the entire book. I thank God that David never really lost his faith in God. He did question it at times, and no one could blame him. David's strength and survival is no less than a miracle from God. David endured more than any adult could. I can only hope that as David shares his nightmare and survival, that other children that sit alone in the corners of darkness, will reach out for help. David is a true blessing to all of us. I'd like to say that this world is a better place because of people like David, giving of himself and asking for nothing in return. Even though this book broke my heart from page to page, I can't stop telling my friends about it. David, THANK YOU for sharing your life with us. God Bless.
