Summary: My heart broke because it was my story, too
Review: Every person needs to read this book and the subsequent ones that follow. This first book of three is heart-breaking as the author recounts his physical and emotional abuse during his younger years. To many, they may want to turn a blind eye and refuse to believe that any child living in this country has and is experienceing this kind of treatment. Unfortunately, this kind of child abuse occurs everyday.

I commend David Pelzer for writing this book in a dignified way. He writes as if from the point of view of the child and it should definitely help adults to understand the struggle and mentality of a child that experiences vicious and cruel treatment especially at the hands of someone they love.

You must read this to enrich your life. Share it with someone. Let's continue to stop the violence so that our children can grow up to be well-adjusted adults who can contribute to society.

Summary: wow!
Review: I think that everyone should read this book. I cannot believe that a parent could ever do this to their own child. It definitly opens your eyes. I never thought that anything like this every went on, and it just makes you think whenever you see a child with a bruise or black eye. This book was definately hard to put down. There were so many times when I read for hours just to find out what happens. I always made sure to have a box of tissues, and I always found myself rooting for David. I have read the second one and I am almost finish with A Man Named Dave. This series is definately worth reading.

Summary: What did David do to deserve this?
Review: A Child Called It is a great book. I loved it and it made me respect my life much more. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a great book.
This book is about a boy named David or "IT" and his mother abuses him. David tries and break free from this but can gain control over his mother. David also tries and find friends. David has many younger brothers but they are mean to him but they don't get abuse from their mother.
If you like this book you should read the sequel called The Lost Boy.

Summary: A Child Called "It"
Review: A Child Called "It" Review

The book A Child Called "It" is a great book. It is about a young boy named Dave Pelzer (the author) who's is abused by his alcoholic mother. She has 6 kids but the only one she abuses is David. He gets abused in many ways for instance getting burned over a gas stove, stabbed, starvation, and spoonfuls of ammonia. You'll have to read the book to find out more ways she abuses him. Sometimes his mother says that he has violated some of her rules like no walking on the grass at school.
He also gets bullied and made fun of because he smells and looks bad. Plus he usually only gets 1 to 2 outfits every 3 years. David's father doesn't protect him but surprisingly a schoolteacher saves him. I think it is a great book for kids to read because it teaches then how bad abuse is. And if they think that they have a bad life you see how a kid's life is on a regular basis.
If you would like to keep reading about Dave Pelzer's life go and read his next books The Lost Boy and A Man Called Dave. Right now he is making a new book on another part of his life.

Summary: An Amazing Book A Chid Called It
Review: Review
A Child Called "IT"

In this book there is a kid who got beat severely when he was a child. His mom was really nice to him then one day she came home from somewhere and his mom starts hurting him or beating him when he does something that was not that bad or she makes something up to beat him.
In the beginning of the book it tells about what is happening right when he is talking in the book. It tells about the nurse finding out about all of the beatings. She tells the principal and some other people. Then they call a policeman and he has a talk with him.
I like this book because it tells people about what it would be like to have an abusive mother or father. That is my review of this book.

The book A Child Called "It" was such a great book. I couldnt put the book down. It showed how a young boy name Dave tryed anything to stay alive. He live with his mother that constanly beat him up and starved Dave to death. Dave lived with his other brothers, but he was unable to even look at his brothers or he was brutally beaten. His mother always thought of horrible games that either left Dave lying on the floor or about to colapse. He was known as "The Bad Boy" but late on known as "It." Daves Father had left the family after watching mother constantly drinking. Everyday when Dave had come home from school he would have to do his long list of chores and do whatever his mother had wanted. If he didn't do this, his mother would play another one of her horrible games. Dave was rarely fed, and when he was it was only scraps of food that were left from nights before. He needed to eat so he had stolen food from other children and from local markets, but was soon caught and beaten by his mother once again. Nobody knew about the life of Dave Pelzer, because he knew that if he said a word about mother, he knew that that night he would be hurt to death. His mother thought of the worst games suchs as making Dave eat his little brothers poo that was spread onto his face, or staying underwater for a long period of time, and even much more and worse.
This book was one of the best books that I had every read. It made me feel very lucky that I wasn't treated like Dave was, and how lucky I am. I thought that the book was absolutely perfect and I would reccomend everyone to read this. It showed how such a young boy can live through all the harsh things that his mother had done to him. While I was reading the book i felt like I was there at his house watching his mother beat him. He was so brave and he had his ways of making his mom mad. There were some times when he felt like giving up and just letting his mother take advantage of him, but he was strong and knew what to do. After many times of being yelled at and being hit, he had found ways of getting out of them such as stalling time until one of his brothers was home. Daves mother was nicer when his brothers were home or near them where they can see what she was doing to him.
One thing that Dave had said was "What other reason could there be for a life like mine?" I thought that it was very sad, because he felt like nobody loved him, and he just wished that his mother would finally one day stop and love him and treat him like his other brothers. Dave prayed daily for everything to stop and to become normal but it never did. " You are a nobody! An "It"! You are nonexistent!" That was what Dave's mother had said to him. It was when his mother started called him that. It hurt Dave to hear this, but he still kept strong.
The favorite part of the book was when Daves mother went from a happy loving family, to becoming an alcholic and treating Dave with no respect. It was interesting seeing how such a fun loving family can become so broken apart and so violent. I just love this book so much.

Summary: We have got to Learn
Review: Jewel Moore, A reviewer

We have to stop this abuse! With the recent headlines through out the United States regarding the Carlie Brucia case,It made me angry at all the no name children out there that are brutalized, beaten, molested and raped...even murdered. I am hoping that more people will buy this truth telling poignant book. We need to be aware of what is happening and we need to learn how we can get a handle on it. I personally, am telling anyone that will listen to read this book and a few others I will mention below. We can not help the future Carlies unless we learn...and learn some more.

Summary: A Child Called it
Review: A child called it is an excellent story for young adults. I say that because there are ordeal events that take place in that book. Negelect is the whole purpose. I feel if kids read this book they'll know how lucky they are to have parents who aren't like It's. If any children read this book be lucky to even have a name! How would you feel if your name was IT?

Summary: Mother From Hell!!!
Review: This is a true story about a little boy whose worst enemy was his own mother. Psychotic and alcoholic, she would beat, burn, and torture him in the most bizarre and painful ways. It's a miracle he even survived the maniacal woman's daily campangue of tortures. It's very painful and disturbing to read what this little boy had to go through. Because a starving 8 year old boy is pretty much defenseless against a full grown woman. She would starve him to the point where he had to eat as much food as possible at school, force him to drink cleaning agents and chemicals like ammonia, hold his hands and arms over the flames of the stove, tore his clothes off and threw him on top of the stove with the burners lit, cut him and smashed his face into mirrors, forced him to do housework while stabbing him with knives, forced him to stay in freezing cold bath water for hours at a time, heavily sprayed the garage with disinfectant cleaners and locked him in to inhale the toxic fumes, made him sleep in the freezing cold garage on the floor with only a light jacket, and brutally beat him daily. The odd thing is that she treated her other children like gold and never laid a finger on them. Her husband was a joke and never bothered to help the boy from his crazed mother. This story is by far the worst case of child abuse I have ever heard of. I was very emotional while reading this book. You will be too.
