Summary: A Child Called It
Review: I read this book twice and each time i enjoyed it alot. It goes into great deapth about a boys life growing up and how he was trawmaticly abused. i found it upsetting and sad. im also amazed he survived considering its a true story.
Over all it's a good book and anyone who likes books with a real good story would really enjoy reading it.

Summary: You will never forget this book
Review: I read this book because I'd heard SO much word-of-mouth. Within a day I was rushing to get the next two books in the series which I finished within another day. If you're going to buy this one, order the next 2 as well because you won't want to wait to continue the story.
This book is written very simply -- I think the intention is to give it a child's voice. As the stories progress you may find he gets a bit self-righteous, but all in all this is a monumentally important series.
I'm not religious, and you'd have to pay me to read a Chicken Soup book, but Mr. Pelzer is an inspiration. He has taken all of these misdeeds against him and worked them into his path in life -- to be strong and share his strength. I've met him a couple of times and quite frankly I think he works TOO hard and is never satisfied no matter how many accolades he receives.
I agree that these books should be read by every parent, every person involved in childcare and social services.
It makes you think -- David is one who survived. He speaks for so many who have not.
I can't help but be insulted by the few negative comments I've seen on this review list. Don't read it for beautiful prose. Read it for the sense of gratitude and duty you will be left with when you are done. Would you ignore the testament of any abused child because of his way with words? The fact that Pelzer is an adult survivor makes his tale no less poignant.

Review: I loved this book. I read it so soon. I cant believe the contents. Some of it is so unimaginable (please excuse my spelling) I almost cried. This book really changed me. Thank you to Dave for sharing the wonderful story.

Summary: Great Book, but I think I need closure.
Review: I got this book today and wasn't going to read it until later this week, but I started it and couldn't put it down. It is a short read, only took about an hour and a half. The brutality in this book is astonishing; I won't disturb you with the details, but what David's mother does to him is almost surreal. The very fact a woman could do this to her own offspring makes her seem subhuman. It's really an amazing story of David's struggle, but it leaves me asking, why? Why did she do this, and what happens to her, does she get prosecuted in any way? I guess I'll have to buy the next book to find out.

Review: This is an incredible book about the courage of a young man facing incredible evil. The whole time I kept asking, "Why! Why would anyone treat a child this way." Bless you Dave for sharing your story!

Summary: A Child Called "It"
Review: This is one of the best books available. It is inspiring and educating. Once you stop you can't set it down. There is so many wonderful and colorful meanings and values taught. This book really taught me a lot about children, young and preteen. The inspiration itself is so amazing, it only took thw first page for me to get hooked.

Summary: The Fundamentals of Sadness.
Review: I read this book straight through without stoping once. Since then I've read it two or three times over again. I've never been so touched by a book bofore as I was with "A child called it", and never have I actually started crying during reading, which I did with this book, and more then once..Child abuse at the peak is the topic. You'll be stunned at all the different techniqes that can be used by a Mother to physically and psychologically torture and abuse her child to a point lightyears beyond proportion. You'll feel the anger and hatred enflicted by a mentally ill Mother, as well as the agony, sadness and anger from Dave as the abused child.

Summary: TO BE READ BY ANYONE WHO HAS NO EXPERIENCE WITH ABUSE!!!
Review: If you suffered horrible child abuse, you know what Dave is speaking of is the truth. If you were much more fortunate to be born in a good family with good parents and grandparents, you may not have an understanding of what your friends have experienced who survived a horrible situation. This book will really give insight and understanding and compassion to people who were more fortunate. And maybe you will be able to see a child who is being abused and do something to stop it. After all abused children in most cases grow up to be mentally unstable adults who create one problem or another for others! Please read this book and others like it so you can stop these crimes. Two books I read about children surviving bad situations was The Diary of a Slave Girl, Ruby Jo and The Journal of Leroy Jones! Also, read other slave books written by real slaves to see how they survived.

Summary: Great book for victims who aspire to overcome!
Review: This is a wonderfully written account of a child who refused to use this abuse as an excuse not to succeed. Easy to follow and sincere this book is the best book on the issue I've read.

Review: I think A child called it was one of the best books I have ever read. I couldn't put it down. I felt like I was there with him as he went through everthing. It was so emotional as his parants abused him I wanted for him so much for him to get help.I encourge anyone who is looking for an emotional book to read this. I think this book is great for teens and adults.
