Summary: Wonderfully and beautifully described
Review: I first read this book probably 2 months back. My friend had recommended it to me and brought it to school. When I read the back to see what the story was about, I was completely intrigued. During schooltime I sneaked in to read a couple of pages because I just couldn't put it down, it took all my self-control to put the book down and listen to my teacher. I was literally in tears when I read about how Dave was abused. Some of those things are just unbelievable, the things that his "mother" does to him are just horrible. I have trouble believing a human, let alone a mother, could do something to such a young child. What amazes me is the fact that Dave was able to survive this sort of torture and live to tell about it today. Any other person would just give up and probably kill themselves, he shows a strength that few people are blessed with. The book is beautifully described and detailed even thought the content just wrenches your heart and you can't help but hold on to the hope that that little boy will soon be loved. He shows compassion for his father even though the man does nothing to help him during his time of abuse. It was hard to believe that a young child could be subjected to this kind of terror and pain and survive. By the end of the day, I just couldn't wait to read how Dave ended up in his second book. This story is definitely one of the best books I've ever read in my life, you can't put this book down, and it will guarantee to put you in tears. I highly recommend this story to anyone.

Review: I, too, read this book and cried for the little boy that was treated so cruelly. In retrospect, though, I wonder about the truth of the story. Some of these abuses should have caused death or severe health problems. Do we have any proof that this isn't just a story told to move the masses and line someone's pocketbook?

Review: This book is a "at the edge of your seat" suspense, yet a very heart touching story. It is soo totally good. I like read it so many times. And I am currently reading it now too again. Everytime I read it I cry. So I soo recommend that you have a box of tissues and a shoulder to cry on...

Summary: Very Emotional
Review: This is one of the most emotion-provoking books I have ever read. While it does detail terribly horrible incidents of child abuse, I found the triumph of the David's spirit the most touching. I cried the most when he triumphed, no matter how small that triump was. This book reminds us all, everyone has the will to survive deep in side of us. We just need to continue to fight for it.

Review: A Child Called It and The Lost Boy are the inspirational stories of the young Dave Pelzer to survive his childhood. Pelzer is known for his courage to survive his mother's mental and physical tortures. She would make him sleep on the basement, starve him, and one time she stabbed him for doing the dishes too slow and his father did not even help him. Finally, he was saved and lived in about eight different foster homes. Pelzer's accomplishments are surviving his mother and becoming an inspirational speaker all over.
These books are easy to read and understand and the describing details will make you want to keep turning the page. All the information in his books is in order from when he was young until he was in his teens. The only thing I would change about this book is the way he never talked about his brothers in The Lost Boy.
I rated these books five stars because a book has to be really good or I won't read it and I could not put them down. I would recommend these books to others because I think they were really great books and they made me laugh and cry. I think what the author is trying to say in these books is that you should not give up and do not keep it a secret if you or someone else is being abused. This is a valuable message because it is not right for children to go on with being beaten and abused and not telling anyone

Summary: A Child Called It- A story of courage and determination
Review: I chose to read the book, 'A Child Called It' . This is an autobiography about the author, Dave Pelzer and is based on his life from ages 4 to 12.
In this book, Dave Pelzer wrote about his life growing up with his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother and the abuse that she inflicted on him, which lasted for years. His mother played tortuous games, some of which nearly killed him. She no longer regarded him as a son, but a slave; no longer a boy, but an 'it'.
What he went through was a horrible childhood that no child deserves, not even animals deserve to be treated the way Dave was. He was starved, suffocated, stabbed, emotionally scared, isolated, and treated worse than the family dogs. When he was allowed the luxury of food, it was scraps from the dogs' bowl.
As I read this book, I felt an immense amount of anger, sadness, and confusion. How can a mother do this to her child? Better yet, what kind of father would watch? I continually asked myself these questions. There were moments while reading this book that I had to fight back the tears.
As well as being a book about the suffering of a child due to child abuse, it is also a story of inner-strength, courage and forgiveness. Dave was determined to find a family to love him and call him their son. It took years of struggle, deprivation and despair for him to find his dream and make something of himself in the world.
This book is very well written and describes the pain and heartache of Dave Pelzer so well that you can feel it. The novel was obviously based on abuse, therefore, the mood was one of confusion and depression.
"A Child Called It" is an unforgettable novel that made my heart break. Once I picked it up, I could not put it down again.

Summary: Heartbreaking
Review: This story broke my heart. David was a very brave person to go through his child experiences and then be willing to tell the world about the way he was treated. David shows great spirit of mind and body to endure all that his mother did to him. It is sad to think that a mother could abuse one of her own children the way she did and treat the others so well. How could a father let this happen while he was in the home, and even go so far as to accuse a child of provoking the abuse? It is amazing the school system let this go for six years before helping this defenseless child. This is a very moving book and I would recommend it to everyone. I cannot wait to read the next book in the trilogy.

Summary: one childs courage to surive
Review: A child Called "It" was a very well written book by Dave Pezler. It was a walk through his child hood and a look at how he was abused by his acholic mother. By the age of four, little Dave was no longer a part of the Pezler family. He was considered "a child called it ". After years of his mother making him dirnk amonia and starving him for days at a time,Dave over came his past and became the of his ablity. Personaly, this was a great book that every one look into so that they could learn about the struggles that others might be faced with. everyday.

Summary: A small boy's struggle....to survive
Review: A Child Called it, by David Pelzer, was a very good book. It's about a little boy's story about how he got abused by his alcoholic mother. She burns him on the stove and sticks him in the bathroom alone for hours with amonia. At the end of the book he is still with his mother, but theres a sequal. I really liked this book because it was told by the boys point-of-view, so you feel very sympathetic for him. I wanted to help him. This book was a little depressing but it made me realize how lucky I really am.

Review: I THINK THIS BOOK IS THE BEST BOOK YOU CAN EVER READ. I GAVE IT FIVE STARS. IT'S ABOUT A CHILD WHO GETS BEATEN BY HIS DRUKEN MOTHER. SHE HAS NO LOVE FOR HIM. DAVE HAS OTHER BORTHERS BUT THE MOTHER ACTS NORMAL AND CAREING WITH THEM. SHE IS SO HORRIBLE TO DAVE SHE DOES THINGS SUCH AS STICK HIS HEAD IN A DIRTY DIPPER AND BURNS HIS HAND ON A STOVE. SHE IS SO SICK. I THINK YOU SHOULD READ THE LOST BOY. I THINK THIS THIRD BOOK A MAN NAMED DAVE PELZER IS NOT AS GOOD AS THESE ONES. BUTACHILD CALLED IT AND THE LOST BOY ARE VERY GOOD BOOKS.
