Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Two years later and I still refer to this book Review: I bought this book after seeing an Oprah episode with Julie on it. It's been two years and over the course of those two years I've used it to organize my garage, bedrooms, bathrooms and most recently home office/craft space. I keep going back to it again and again because those places that I've used her book are still working. My garage, after 18 months is still organized! The reason my husband (the pack rat) likes it is she doesn't focus on throwing things out. Instead she is realistic and makes you figure out how to find systems that fit your style and personality.Buy this book and keep it handy!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: What a wonderful tape! Review: Wow...by listening to this in my car, I was able to organize our basement in just 6 hours (and it was a FULL basement!). I borrowed this from the library and liked it so much I'm buying my own copy.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Slobs of the world-There's hope for us! Review: Ms. Morganstern goes into the psychology of packrathood in detail and each of us will probably find ourselves in one of her descriptions. I never knew I could be so organized and do it without stressing out over where to get started, what to throw out and what to keep. By following Ms. Morganstern's advice and reading ALL of the first few chapters of her book BEFORE you dive in to organize you will find yourself going in a more step by step fashion and ending up with far better results than if you skip straight to the chapter with the room you want to organize first. As a recovering slob I recommend this book highly.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Some good stuff here, but Review: If you think you're a cluttered person who can't ever get organized, you will probably find this book very useful. But as informative as it is, I felt it was written poorly. Though the ideas are good, the first few chapters read like a generic self-help book so I found myself skimming through the entire book and trying hard to find the important points that are worth reading. It's unfortunate that you have to wade through anecdotes and pseudo-psychology in order to get a few good tips on organizing. But if you read it quickly and end up with an organized home, then it's worth the time.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: It worked for me!!! Review: Up until I read this book several months ago, I was a slob. I had tried other methods, but would revert back to my cluttered habits within a matter weeks. Julie's use of the kindergarten classroom as a model for organizing one's space is so simple and logical, and yet I never would have thought to organize my home in such a way. She also lists the actual causes of clutter and gives you ways of combating them. Mine happened to be technical errors, and alot of them. Her system is absolutely wonderful and I would have given it five stars, but I wish that there were more pictures, and in color in the book.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: She's God sent Review: Almost everyone needs a Julie Morgenstern in their life. Her books, audio and videotape are a must have for anyone trying to cope, survive and manage their lives. I'd suggest getting the videos', thereby you'll actually get to she what she talking about and the resulting effects!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great! Practical and detailed. Review: I bought this book before moving to another house. I am NOT a neat-freak or an obsessive organizer - in fact, I've been pretty relaxed about mess so far in my life. However, the tips in this book have really improved the pleasure I feel at home, and my serenity and well being. Morgenstern gives very real, applicable advice and a method to follow. Realistic estimate of how long it will take to apply to each room. At first, I thought that her "kindergarten model" sounded a little anal - "No way will I have a kitchen with labels on every shelf" I thought. Well, guess what - I found myself buying a label making machine and now I have a fully organized kitchen and I LOVE it! How did I do it before? I actually ENJOY emptying the dishwasher and tidying up now!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I share this book with all my disorganized friends Review: This is the best book on organizing the home and office I have ever read -- and when I used Ms. Morgenstern's technique of sorting I found I had 9 of them (3 of them were the same book.) What makes this book different? She doesn't impose arbitrary rules, but instead she encourages the reader to analyze first what techniques are already working and to incorporate that into a larger system of organization. I first read this book in 1998. Now I am re-reading it as a refresher -- a little like losing 30 pounds and gaining back 15.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Excellent tool to help get your life in order Review: Wow! That reviewer from Philly was pretty upset! I suppose if you're already a decently organized person, purchasing and reading this book will leave you feeling gypped. For the rest of my discombobulated sisterhood, this book is fabbity fab fab. Yes- there are some no-brainer ideas (get more shelving, add an extra clothes rail), but I was impressed with Morgenstern's concept of recognizing your "organizational personality". Much like dieting and exercising, if you try to organize around a personality type that doesn't suit your style, chances are you won't stick with it. Once you conclude what your "type" is, Morgenstern gives you great ideas for purging the unused junk out of your closets and cabinets -"anything that hasn't been used in the last 6 months, unless it's a reliable cocktail dress or seasonal clothes, should GO"- which includes that goopy makeup sitting in a container under your bathroom sink (you know who you are!), or lotions and toiletries you bought but rarely, if ever, used. It's amazing- my Mom has always said, "The state of your home is a reflection of the state of your mind". This must be part of Feng Shui- it's true, though. Once I applied Morgenstern's ideas and de-cluttered my life, my mind felt less cluttered as well. Don't forget to check out Morgenstern's other book "Time Management from the Inside Out".
