Review: Like anyone who has ever suffered from any form of a human deficiency, it is much easier to take counsel from a convert rather than from someone who has always done things "perfectly" (even though I love Martha Stewart too...) That is why this book has given me the inspiration to begin to attack my clutter. Before plunging into helpful ideas on HOW to get yourself organized, the first half of the book is dedicated to WHY you aren't already organized. Finally, I was able to understand why I couldn't (until now) keep a clean house. It's been a godsend...thank you Ms. Morgenstern!

Review: I have been seeking some motivation and cheap help to get going on organizing my lovely, but clutter home. I wanted to be sure I would use the book- not just buy another self help for the shelf! And I have found this interesting, very practical, and motivating. I am going to organizie most of the house. I started small- the pantry. My pantry has never, never , looked so good, and been so easy to find those spices! The office is next and the garage for the fall when you can handle working outside for 3 days!I think that many people that have glimpsed the peace of a organized home and office, can get into this easy read.

I also highly recommend Superself and Financial Self Defense which offer accessory techniques not offered in Organizing from the inside out. Great books. Must reading for anyone who wants to maximize effectiveness, at home and in the office.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A unique and inspiring approach! Review: This is a fantastic book! I highly suggest it to anyone - whether you need a complete overhaul on your life, or just want to organize your sock drawer. All of my life, I have been perpetually late, disheveled, and disorganized, and have hated it. This book has literally changed my life. If you're just looking for a book that tells you how often to mop your floors or change your furnace filters, this book is not for you. It examined underlying issues that caused my disorganization - isues that I never realized I had - then provided me with a detailed, step by step program to work with myself instead of against myself to create an organized, comfortable home. Truly a great book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great book for helping you start when you don't know how. Review: Good book for the person who can't figure out where to start attacking their clutter. Also gives nice rational on why it's ok to throw away items (so, you don't feel like you wasted money). Well organized book --- tells you how to get the room clean and then how to maintain (really the hardest part of dealing with clutter, in my opinion). The real-life examples are nice so that you don't feel like you are the only person who lets their "stuff" overwhelm them.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: An excellent process for undertaking serious organising Review: I liked Julie's book because of the process she describes and greatly encourages us to use when undertaking yet another re-organising project. I initially bought the book to help me cope with my home office that had become extremely dysfunctional over the previous year. In my case, the average times she listed for the various stages of the project were way too low but the process ensured I saw success failry early. My only complaint is that I was really hoping to see more pictures of completed work so that I could get some more ideas and inspiration for creating my own new space. Julie writes a fair bit about getting creative but falls way short on examples or illustrations. However, the book is placed on my reference shelf in my now fully functional and very effective home office.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I learned as much about who I am as I did about organizing. Review: A wonderful book. Unique in style and approach. I learned as much about myself as I did about getting organized. Most books on this subject give you lists, projects, ideas and plans. This one makes you think. And the best part of all, it lets you feel ok about who you really are then helps you find the path to make things work for you. I found it liberating. For the first time in my life I found someone who is wise, and kind and has a workable answer for the clutter. I saw myself in many of the evauations presented. Plus a workable plan that I can live with. I am an artist, crafts woman and clutter bug. Thank you Julie for caring about who is inside. You nailed me when you said: "Do you collect huge amounts of supplies?" I sure do. Now I know how to live with it in harmony.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Excellent content but a bit repetitious Review: I got a lot of good ideas from the book. It is repetitious in that many of the chapters repeat the same ideas in different contexts, and some of those contexts are pretty similar. For example, she has separate chapters on the home office, the business office and the business cubicle. She certainly demonstrates that there are enough differences to discuss them separately, but there are also enough similarities that she repeats herself. However, I like the book, enough to buy several copies for presents.

I would recommend it to anyone who has ever wrestled with piles of paper and debris. She is the best at this stuff and has a foolproof approach to getting organized at home, in the office, and in your life as a whole.
Rating: ![0 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-0-0.gif) Summary: Why I wrote this different sort of organizing book Review: From the day I was born until the birth of my own child, I was a notoriously disorganized person. I lived out of piles, spent half my day searching for things and lost everything imaginable-- little things like keys, gloves and wallets to really big things, like a pair of boots, the jacket from a vintage suit and believe it or not, even a friend's car. I tried to get organized for years-ached for it deeply-but no storage unit, clever organizing basket or even marathon cleaning weekend ever seemed to create lasting results. Within days, my old familiar mess would be back. My daughter's birth gave me the motivation I needed to finally break free of the chaos. One day, after spending over 2 ½ hours getting ready to take her for a walk, I realized that if I didn't get organized, my child would never see the light of day! So, I started with the diaper bag, just so I could be free to take my child on an outing at a moment's notice. (Details of how I succeeded are in my book). With that victory under my belt, I used the same approach to tackle the kitchen cabinets. Then the closets, then my papers, and so on. Before long, I had my entire house under control and was finally able to experience the freedom and empowerment of organized living. There are many excellent organizing books on the market-but the majority focus on a thousand and one clever ways to stretch space and store your belongings. My personal experience and my work organizing clients have taught me that the major obstacle people face in trying to tackle their clutter is not a lack of storage ideas....it is that when they face the mountains of clutter, they are completely overwhelmed. They have no idea where to start and they don't know how to see the project through to the end. They make many classic mistakes which actually lead to creating a worse mess than when they started. And when they search for clever tips and cool looking containers, they have no criteria for deciding which ones will be right for them. With Organizing from the Inside Out, I address the true challenge of getting past the overwhelm to design a system that is right for you. Sharing my 10 years of experience as a professional organizer, I teach you my method for sorting through the piles-for facing the mountain of clutter and knowing exactly where to begin. I provide you with a foolproof 3-step process that works on anything you want to organize-from a closet to a garage, a filing system to a schedule. Organizing from the Inside Out shows you how to design your system based on your unique personality, natural habits and goals so that it is incredibly easy to use and a snap to maintain. Organizing is a simple skill anyone can learn. I hope my book will get you past the roadblocks which have been holding you back, and allow you to experience the joy and power of organized living forever.
